excellent ambiance with a white lotus vibewide variety of dishes, from skewers, to cold cebiches, to hot rice dishes. amazonia's a la carte menu features the peruvian classics as well as more upscale twists i.e. with sea urchin. indeed, the sea urchin arroz con erizos was flavorful. the lomo saltado was another classic but the beef was a little tougher than my liking. the skewers were quite good, especially the chicken thigh. the desserts were fireeee. especially the mousse-like one with passion fruit.

Everything at Causa was as I expected, wonderful food, exceptional service, and understated elegance (Amazonia upstairs is also gorgeous, with impeccable service). Had the tasting menu and two fish supplements which honestly were underwhelming, unicorn leatherjacket (fresh/cold) and the seabream (grilled)- they were supposed to be total 2lbs for four of us but the portions were tiny. However the sauce that came with the sea bream was AMAZING - tomato, heavy cream, veggies at the bottom, fantastic flavor. I could eat an entire bowl as a soup! The rest of the tasting menu was wonderful, the textures and flavors were exquisite and the desssert was sublime.

I've had Amazonia on my list of "must try" restaurants for quite some time now. And each and every year as they've maintained their Michelin Star rating... I have only solidified wanting to visit and experience their intimate dining. My friend and I were so incredibly lucky that Amazonia extended their Winter Restaurant Week menu; and we were able to get a reservation!!From the minute we were seated, right through to the serving of each course - the service, the plating and the quality of ingredients were second to none. 10/10 all across the board. Each of the courses offered were spectacular- so much so, we ordered a second round of the Salmon Belly Anticuchos. From the other courses that we had - two standout dishes were the Chicken Wings Del Marañon and the Ají De Gallina. What a WW... The blend of flavours and spices with each of these were incredible. The cocktails were fantastic, the ambience set with the lighting and decor were also very sexy and set the mood for any special occasion (including Restaurant Week).

I visited for a restaurant week and got the dinner option. The staff was incredibly welcoming and though we got there right at 4 PM, which is when they reopened everyone was energetic and happy to set us down and service us. Our hostess was extremely sweet and also gave some great recommendations on cocktails as well as the food options. Both of the cocktails were amazing! I got the turron de Dona papa and the huacatay tropica. The prices for the drinks are a decent price too, less than $20! Since I came with a friend, we both decided to get different things so that we could try each other's items, we started off with the chicken wings and the ceviche nikkei (tuna), and the pork belly and chicken thigh anticucho. The meats were amazing! The chicken wings is a decent portion too. The tuna was good but wasn't necessarily worth the extra $15 for me. For our mains, we got the chaufa putumayo and the tallarin saltado. The chaufa fried rice was absolutely amazing, I desperately wanted more, but the saltado was just OK, I felt it was a bit too acidic and would have rather got something else. I really enjoyed the deserts too the chocolucuma was tasty and the suspiro was flavorful, but would only get it if you like pudding. Overall, would like to come back, though I am a little afraid of the regular prices!

What a place! I visited Causa on a Thursday night and was the first table to be seated around 7:30pm. I was celebrating a special occasion and the hostess made sure to recognize it by writing me a card thanking me for celebrating at Causa. The hostess also checked in our coats, which was great!Upon being seated, we were greeted by various staff. Our main server was very friendly and gave us a brief history of Peruvian Nikkei cuisine. It was hard to hear him due to the loud background music and because he was wearing a face mask, but he was really nice and I really appreciated him checking in on us throughout the evening. We also got to meet the chef, Carlos Delgado, the sommelier and their mixologist. They all provided fantastic service all night... so much so that my water cup was never below half empty. We started the Nikkei fixed course meal ($179/person) with five "snacks" brought to us by the chef. Every course thereafter was delightful. I can't recall all the ingredients in each but my favorites: purple potato (huancaína) with crumbled cheese and the dry aged fish misoyaki. I loved the shaved ice with pisco the chef sent our way to cleanse our palette before dessert. See photo of the menu.Overall, great service. I want to return to visit Amazonia, their restaurant upstairs, as that has more traditional Peruvian dishes. We were sent home with individual banana bread loafs and a copy of the menu. If I could make one recommendation, it would be to provide guests with the menu before they embark on the experience so they can try to pick out ingredients' flavors as they savor the dish.

Amazonia Restaurant week reviewAbsolutely delicious and amazing experience so I can't imagine Causa! Must return! The chaufa fried rice was tasty and one of my faves with little sweet notes in certain bites. My second fave was the cebiche clasico! It was the right combination of sour - though they could have left the hard corn out but that's just preference. I think service was amazing! My water glass never got empty ! I was so surprised at how attentive they are and how well the servers know the menu ! And the overall vibe is out of this world. It literally takes you on a journey through the Amazon. I think it's just secluded enough with mood lighting- it'd make the perfect date experience. Would love to return !

Causa was more than a meal; it was a whole experience. From the moment we set foot in the door, every aspect of our time at the restaurant felt meticulously curated to provide fine dining. Each dish was so unique and delicious, but what made them especially engaging was the way each staff member would explain the dish when it was served -- the concept, the history, the ingredients. So cool.We also did the wine pairing to bring the tasting menu to another level. It didn't disappoint, but be prepared to drink a good amount along with your food.Too many standouts to list here, but if you're looking to splurge, Causa is definitely an excellent choice in DC!

We really enjoyed our dining experience at Amazonia. We found that the dishes were great for sharing. We ordered a bunch of stuff that sounded good and split it family style. The anticucheria are unique! My husband was daring enough to try the duck tongue, but I was not. The salmon belly was great, though! The lomo saltado hot dish is a must try! The service was good! The kitchen had an extra dish that we didn't order, so they gave it to us, and we got a bonus entree. The restaurant is upscale but not overly fancy. It's dimly lit and had a trendy tropical jungle vibe. We had a great time! Oh, and the cocktails were delicious and specially crafted!

This is our 3rd visit to Chef Carlos Delgado's restaurant. We select this restaurant bc each time we are delighted by everything we order, from the bar to the kitchen. Random tip: Order the el Cacao cocktail if you can appreciate a drink with complexity, not terribly sweet, well balanced, mysterious and has a wonderful smoke to it. We ended up ordering a 2nd round and would return just to have it again (complements to the bartender). Each bite of all 5 dishes we ordered was like unpacking a gift or going on an adventure. Your taste buds will be like Princess Jasmine on a magic carpet ride.My husband has a dairy allergy and usually we feel cheated by eliminating menu items with dairy but not at Amazonia!! The service is also consistently amazing. Our napkin was re-folded when we returned from the restroom! Dribbled sauce was always wiped up! The water was refilled and our server was personable and gave excellent suggestions. No need to hesitate booking an evening here. Do it right now.
