Had a very enjoyable dinner here, and there is something for everyone. I'm from New Jersey original, so was happy to hear that this NY style deli opened recently. I am not big on pastrami, but was not going to pass it up when I came here since that is one of their specialties. The pastrami sandwich was lean, and not too fatty, which I appreciate. It came with a pickle, side salad and coleslaw, which was plenty of food to fulfill my hunger. For desert, we had the oreo chocolate cake which was a bit too sweet, but still pretty good. Very nice decor here, with music albums and broadway themed pictures throughout the restaurant. Plenty of cushioned booths here, so it was very comfortable. I recommend reservations if you come on a Saturday evening, as it was very crowded. Will definitely be back at some point.

I really want to give this place 4 stars for the service and steak, but the food just wasn't it for me. The steak was surprisingly cooked to perfection at medium rare! It was juicy and soft to eat, just needed salt and pepper. The hash brown was weird, tasting like it was baked in the same pan as pastries. There was barely a crunch to it. The fries were yummy, crispy and soft at the same time. The milkshake is only good for show: the chocolate cake was comparable to a grocery store's without the extra sweetness. The milkshake itself was meh with the ice cream they used. They do have a lot of tasty sounding food here, but I would skip the desserts.

Presentation was two thumbs up but sadly to report, the quality of the food was quite the opposite. Came here due to a viral food review video and left disappointed. Chicken & waffles: chicken seasoning was nice but the meat was dry and overcooked. Waffles were too flimsy because the edges were not crispy. Steak & eggs: First time in life I had to add table salt to steak. I can be picky about salty food but the steak was so bland. Hash browns needed more seasoning too, and needed to be more crispy. Blueberry pancakes: The pancakes were so dry, even with the jam and maple syrup. Mimosa: This was the only item I have nothing to critique about. And for $5 each, makes it even better. Overall, I was expecting more, to say the least. I really wanted to like this place. The interior is spacious and I appreciated the cozy Carnegie-esque vibe. I would come back to give it another chance, but keeping in mind that they prepare food on the bland/safe side.

Food was great, service was great, and the ambiance is very clean/ trendy. Will definitely be returning. There was a 1.5 hour wait when I came but it was worth the wait. Totally worth trying out.

Service is incredible. Above a 5/5 for sure. Food came out fast, things were explained well, pretty wide range of things to order from, and beautifully designed. I would have appreciated a heads up of every dish comes with quite a lot of mixed green salad that didn't look the freshest compared to all the freshly made mains. The Reuben was very good. The meat is sliced thinly and was warmed perfectly through. The cheese could've been warmed more. I get residual heat should melt the cheese, but maybe a few seconds under a salamander/broiler would've really made it excellent. Nothing wrong with store bought mustard, but I was hoping for something more pungent. The pickle was a nice full sour. The carbonara was too bacon-y for me. It felt like a bowl of bacon and cream. I enjoyed the baklava and the spinach pie. Perhaps, I am feeling nostalgic for the closed Amphora. The dining experience was nice for a family. We didn't feel rushed even though it was full of guests.I'd definitely go back to work my way through the menu.Once again the staff is operating at such a high level here. I'm very impressed.

We've been to Carnegie Diner & Cafe in Vienna twice already for early morning breakfast, and overall, it's been a great experience. The service is excellent--very attentive and friendly, which really adds to the meal. The food is also fantastic. The eggs, in particular, are fresh and don't have that unpleasant smell you sometimes get elsewhere. Everything we tried was delicious, and it's clear they put care into their menu. That said, there are a couple of areas for improvement. The outside area could use some cleaning and better upkeep--it's something that's easy to fix and would make a big difference. Also, we didn't see any owners or managers stopping by tables to check on guests. For a new business, it's a small touch that could go a long way in building a loyal customer base.Despite those points, we really enjoyed our visits. The staff is great, and the food is definitely worth coming back for. We'll likely visit again soon!

Stopped in for a pastrami sandwich and was not disappointed. Felt like I was at a deli in NYC. The pastrami, Swiss cheese, Russian dressing and rye bread was on point. My wife ordered chicken soup and a Greek salad with no olives (Odd I know). She really enjoyed the salad which had extra feta cheese and tomatoes to make up for the missing olives. We did have a small problem with a turkey sandwich that was ordered by a member in our party who has a dairy allergy. The waiter was told that she could not have cheese. Unfortunately, cheese was accidentally added to the sandwich. This was brought to the waiter's attention who immediately sent a manager to our table. They were very apologetic and discounted the bill by 50%. It clearly was a mistake and the waiter felt bad. Hopefully in the future attention to food allergies will be a higher priority. Otherwise it was a nice lunch with good food and the service was great.

This place makes for a great addition to Vienna and NoVa as a whole. Probably the closest to an authentic NYC diner experience I've had since moving back from NY to the DMV area. There's a familiar dessert case with giant cakes in the front, massive portions on the menu, and a packed and buzzing busy environment. There's usually been a wait when we come on weekends, but the servers are efficient and we haven't had to wait more than 20-30 minutes, even on the busiest days. Parking is a bit tight, and it seems like the diner needs to negotiate for more exclusive spaces as they are by far the most popular establishment in the center. Food and drinks are delish - the iced lattes are by far the best diner latte I've ever tried. We usually get two entrees and split between my wife and me - we always have leftovers, too. We usually go for the Nutella pancakes and an omelette. Pros - NYC vibes, good food, huge portions, great coffee drinksCons - parking can be a bit of a mess, busy at times

Carnegie Diner & Cafe is so cute when you walk in and the case of desserts look so appetizing! But, unfortunately the food leaves a lot to be desired. I think with a few tweaks this place could be really good. I came for brunch on a weekday to give it a try. I ordered the eggs Benedict with lobster. It sounded so yummy and there was a pic in the menu that looked really good. Shortly after I ordered, I was told they didn't have lobster today. Huh? Then why put it on your menu?? So, I changed my order to the classic Benedict. When it came out, one of my eggs was clearly broken and when I cut into it, it was RAW. Gross. I asked for it to be remade (to the very nice and helpful Manager). Andddddd it came out raw - AGAIN! He was visibly upset to see that the kitchen had messed up my order again. I can say that the egg that was cooked was pretty tasty. Good hollandase sauce and nicely griddled Canadian bacon. The dish also came with hashbrowns and a salad. I found the hashbrowns to be bland and the salad dressing was very sweet. Not a fan. Some of the other food that was coming out of the kitchen looked good. Maybe they were having an egg-poaching off day. The Manager comped my meal and sent me home with some carrot cake, which I appreciated.Hopefully once they're open longer then can make some tweaks and improve.

I had blueberry pancakes which were very good except for the compote - I would prefer just fresh blueberries. Coffee was good and service was excellent.
