First time eating at this deli in the Eastern Market. Ordered a spinach empanada; it was delicious! Much more flavorful than I expected. Also ordered a 1/4 # kale salad, which came with plenty of craisins and walnuts. Ate outside, b/c, as others have noted, not much seating inside, and it all seems to belong to another restaurant. Made for a good, light lunch, for less than $10.00. I was there after traditional lunchtime, so no line and the service was almost immediate.

I used to love this place and i usually get the chicken salad sub whenever I visit (which isn't often) w/ my sisters. However, this time I must've annoyed the worker cause I asked for extra toppings (please!!) and he put the most thinnest, singular topping i've seen in my life. I giggled at the audaciousness of it all, ate it and called it a day. But it's still rude lmfao so here we are.This place can get stressful and can rush you if there's a long line and/or you're not immediately sure of your order. I think also if you're hard of hearing and you ask for things to be repeated, u might irk the workers lol. Other than that, I really do enjoy my chicken salad sub, i'm just weary about the next time I visit, cause idk what I really did to annoy the worker to get such a passive aggressive sandwich.

This deli is located inside Eastern Market alongside other stalls. I got a chicken salad sandwich on rye and it was absolutely delicious! There was a good amount of chicken salad in the sandwich and it even came with a pickle. The service was super quick and the sandwich was appropriately priced. There's not a lot of seating inside Eastern Market but there are lots of parks and other seating nearby. I'll definitely be back to try another sandwich!

There are many locations within Eastern Market that will lure you to look at their meat and cheeses but not a whole lot of "quick eat" type places. This little sandwich shop is solid. Embodying the "eat local" vibe, I would come back for a sandwich anytime.

VERY delicious Cuban sandwich, BBQ chicken sandwich, and curry chicken. Such wonderful flavors!The service was fantastic. The man behind the counter gave us a happy smile and at the end told us to have a wonderful night!Prices are very good and the food is really filling. Great spot!

Best sandwiches! Friendly people with sandwich experience and honestly helpful. Cuban sandwich rocks, split one. I also had an incredible pastrami and Swiss sandwich - she listened, and then made it exactly as I had said. Yesterday, she told me what 'em was the 'best Italian sub' - she was so right. Just make sure they add the black olives and ask for oil and vinegar, rather than Mayo. Still, I go to Eastern Market just to get a sandwich at Canale's. Gracias!

The sandwiches were okay, but the person taking our order was so rude. She asked me what toppings I wanted on my sandwich, and I asked "what are the toppings?" She then pointed to the toppings (very far off the side of the menu) and said "hurry up you need to be ready". This is horrible customer service for someone who just wanted some clarity on the menu. I understand food service can be stressful, but there was only 1 other person in line behind us.So for anyone who's planning to go here, BE SURE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT BEFORE INTERACTING.

Be warned....this is not the same Canales Deli of yesteryear. Mr. Canales sold the business January of 21 and this new version sucks. Empty cases, no more empanadas, fresh salads, deli meats....customer service. Save yourself the trip.
