Brandee H. "Generally, we had a great experience for a special birthday. The meat, appetizers and drinks were phenomenal. The sides left a little to be desired, in my opinion. We ordered a Wagyu ribeye, lamb chops, wedge salad, macaroni and cheese and whipped potatoes. For dessert, we chose the S'more. The server was very attentive, and they swiftly moved to clean the table for the next course. The complimentary bread and french fry pseudo appetizer is unique and just about perfect! I loved the dipping sauces and the fries were fresh, hot and plentiful. The meat was cooked perfectly, and I was surprised to see that my lamb chops also included a good portion of roasted carrots, which was a huge bonus ! The other sides were a little runny in my opinion. The mac & cheese was extremely loose and bland and the mashed potatoes were flavorful but had a "sauce " consistency. I love that they box your food, and hold it at the front desk so you don't have to fumble with everything walking out. Overall, we will definitely be back, they had some really interesting craft cocktails id liketo try and potentially just sit at the bar. This is definitely a great date spot, somewhere for a nice occasion or generally for a great steak!"

I've heard of Firebirds but had never been before. Our server told us she was new but she did a great job explaining the menu.We had bread to start. Not the best but it did the job. It was a bit too crispy so it was kinda messy to eat. For food, I ordered a burger with tots while my uncle got fish and shrimp with a side of fries. My uncle comes here all the time so he loves the food here! I thought my burger was decent. Nothing special but I had been craving a burger for the past few weeks. The tots were great! Crunchy and well seasoned. I'd come back just for that!Overall, it was a great time. I like the vibe of the restaurant. Staff was really nice and personable. Lots of parking here too! The beignets had good flavor (not doughy or oily) and were surprisingly small, more like bites. The American breakfast, quiche, and burger were all throughly enjoyed. I would recommend for sure. The experience was reduced my one star because of our server. -- wasn't attentive and had to be flagged for almost everything we wanted. Never mentioned a name. We asked for fries without seasoning or salt, and she said "they are not seasoned." You know we received fries with salt, right? Never asked how our food was and things of that nature."

The atmosphere is lovely with beautiful chandeliers, dim lighting and large potted dracaena's. I ordered the stone crab which came with 7 medium and a side for around $65. The stone crab was sweet and rich. My partner got the lunch special with wedge salad and chicken stroganoff. He enjoyed it a lot. The Caesar salad is the best you can get. Nessa R. "I've been to 1799 twice, once for dinner on their patio and once for brunch inside. Never reviewed my dinner occasion but let's do Brunch! We were instructed by a sign on the main gate to use the bar entrance, bar is small, probably fits 15 people, super small. I wouldn't come just for the bar, too small for my liking. You are led down a hall to the main dining area. It was super empty on a Sunday (1/12) and with a brunch that is super competitive in price you'd think it would have been busy. It wasn't. Parking is a bit of a nightmare, it's Old Town so like most DMV places, use a garage near by or simply try to get street parking. Let's get into it! Waffle Station: Small but the waffle was delicious! The condiments are away from the one waffle maker/area, so kinda cumbersome to maneuver. Crab Legs/Shrimp: Plentiful - Good Omelette: Delicious and Made to Order, they have crab, shrimp, anything you want to add it in! Our favorite! Salad Bar: Small but does the job! No Ranch but I asked and they delivered! Mac and Cheese: Just okay.Fruit: They do not have a fruit station just a few for the waffle and pineapple randomly near the salad area. Beverages: We are Boozy Brunchers but they do not have an all you can drink option. We opted not to enjoy brunch drinks since we knew we'd be drinking all day plus, they didn't have a standard mimosa on the brunch options. Okay so I'm at a solid 3 for 1799, I remember my steak was wonderful for dinner, don't remember the sides, but if I didn't review, I wasn't impressed. Service was lacking. The waitress was hard to find even on a slow day. She had a guaranteed tip so boo for us! Sad Face :( My love had to keep asking for refills, ummmm yes the cup is empty, that means he needs another. And we had to keep flagging her down. My Treat This Time! When paying, I noticed a credit card fee. What in the world? What if I wanted to pay cash? So weird. I wish restaurants would just raise their prices because adding an extra $4-5 dollars to a bill is tacky. Super tacky! So everyone is paying the credit card fee? So when it's said and done, $140 for two people for a non-boozy brunch? We'd likely pass and take our foodie talents to Lamani or Old Faithful Sequoia. Those are the best in DC. (Four Seasons too, it's just more expensive.) Ambiance is normal, I wouldn't consider this fine dining at all. The customer service is lacking and the food isn't leaving a lasting impression. Would I return for dinner, probably not! Too many misses for this Mrs. I came, I tried, I conquered! Xoxo,Nessa"

The ambiance was perfect and her on point checking on use was commendable. The food was excellent. The tables were a bit close to each other but it was fine. Our server wasn't too on top of his game but he looked very tired. He was forgetting drinks, never came back with cheese for the top of my pasta, didn't know how to answer my partner's question about what type of beer, etc. My spouse questioned whether his steak was actually A5 -- it was on the cheaper end, and when it came out he definitely said it probably wasn't to that quality. He eats a lot of steak. I really enjoyed my meal though. I got chicken Parm and the chicken was nicely breaded and smothered in cheese. The sauce was chunky tomato which I like. My only complaint was that it didn't come with a lot of pasta, which is surprising... Usually carbs are easy and cheap. And you can't even see it here, cuz there just wasn't that much of it. The cheesecake is Junior's from New York. It was a bit more crumbly than I like, and I wasn't a huge fan of the bourbon caramel sauce. There's also barely any crust, which is one of my favorite parts of cheesecake. I did like the clotted cream and mint on the side, it gave the cheesecake more character. The servers came over to sing happy birthday to our friend... They'd been doing it all night. We heard several tables being serenaded, including the one right next to us, right before us! Overall, not bad, I really did enjoy the chicken parm. I had never been to this location and I enjoy looking at people's faces drawn on the wall."

You get the traditional Teppanyaki experience here, you sit around a big flat cooktop and the whole show happens in front of your eyes. We were a group of 7 and all had the full experience of hibachi. The meal includes salad, clear soup, veggies, fried rice, 2 shrimp, and your protein of choice. Noodles are $3.50 extra but worth the money. A great tip is to ask for extra egg for the fried rice and add extra garlic to everything being prepared. It really elevates the flavor. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp entree, my wife ordered the rib eye steak. The filet was nice and tender but my wife's ribeye was superior in flavor. All the food was prepared correctly, the steak was juicy and flavorful and seafood was nice and tender. This gentleman knew his businesses. I had this vision of DC insiders having these perfectly tender steaks with a glutinous amount of steakhouse sides, paired with uncorked bottles of wine and a (cigar) smoke filled ceiling. For me, this kind of ambiance is worth the price of admission. I drank a mescal old fashioned and a rum based punch from the drink menu. (Both drinks were good) I'm pretty sure the house bread had a decent amount of rosemary in it. I like that personally. The house salad with avocados and hearts of palm was a great call to start the festivities. My 14 OZ NY sirloin was very tender and flavorful. Some of my steak slices made their way in the red wine sauce that accompanied my wife's Filet Mignon. That was also delicious and perfectly cooked. My crispy onion rings were not so crispy, but still enough crunch to satisfy that urge. Our side of potatoes au gratin was a 10 out of 10. The staff was fantastic and our server was excellent. The restaurant offers complimentary garage parking with validation as well as valet parking for $10. The restaurant was clean, warm, elegant, intimate, and inviting. While waiting for our drinks, we were given a basket of parmesan popovers served with butter. They had a flaky croissant-like exterior, hollow on the inside, and moist and fluffy interior. My husband loved the Spring Forward cocktail and Harpoon Brewery Blood Orange Hazy IPA, while I enjoyed the Carrot Cake Old Fashioned. They were classic cocktails with a twist. The Spring Forward cocktail reminded us of a cross between a Mule and Mojito, except made with Jameson Irish Whiskey. We were in decisive about which appetizer to share. Among the Tuna Tartare, Oven Baked Lump Crab Cake, and Oysters Rockefeller, our server Jon helped us narrow it down. The Oysters Rockefeller came with five oysters. They were so good we fought for the last one. It was nice that they changed our silverware in between courses. This time, we skipped the Marchi, Insalate, and Farinacei and ordered from Caserecci and Carni sections of the menu. My husband and I shared the 20 oz. 55 Day Prime Aged Bone-in Cowboy, which was cooked to perfection (medium rare), served pre-sliced with five different kinds of Salse (Port Wine, Bearnaise, Prezzemolata, Davio's Steak Sauce, and Horseradish). Among the Salse, our favorite was the Port Wine. Since the steak didn't come with a Contorni, we enjoyed Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Sherry Citrus. In addition to the steak, we also shared an order of Georges Bank Sea Scallops, which was served over creamy corn with crispy parsnips. The Georges Bank Sea Scallops were super fresh, high quality, and cooked to perfection. It was some of the best scallops we've ever had. We enjoyed watching the dessert cart roll by our table, which provided visuals of each dessert. If we weren't so full, we'd order a Baked Alaska! We decided to share a Tiramisu, which consisted of layers of espresso soaked ladyfingers and cocoa mascarpone cream, dusted with espresso powder, and garnished with a dark chocolate covered espresso bean. The Tiramisu was light. It had a smooth mousse-like texture that melted in your mouth. I enjoyed the Tiramisu with a cup of hot Earl Grey tea with sugar cubes and half and half."

Love a restaurant that is timely! The decor was your typical steakhouse repertoire -- glass wine encasings, classy/beautiful seating, dim lighting, etc.I ordered the Hamachi Sashimi as my appetizer and their fish with rice. The fish with jasmine rice sat in a sweet curry-based sauce. I cleaned it. No complaints. The ribeye fell a bit short for me. It didn't have the succulent, juicy, robust flavor I am used to. The sauces on the side are mango lime (tastes likes a vinaigrette), lemon herb (has a creamy mouthfeel and a personal favorite), mild, garlic, hot, and extra hot.I only tried their sandwich, but the next go around will include some sides and flame-grilled chicken. ***UPDATE***Tried their onion rings (perfectly crispy and fresh), Honey Butter Sandwich (the flavor is WOW, and I'm not a fan of honey butter), peri peri fries were delicious but could use a little more crisp, and the shrimp tacos were filled with juicy, flavorful shrimp and fresh toppings. 10/10 :D Located in Colesville shopping center, I can see this turning into a family hotspot once their Kallisto Steakhouse menu rolls out. From what I could tell, the staff are doing a wonderful job tending to the crowd. They do not have a drink menu, but there is a food menu. It was a mixture of bar food and some more unique dishes, like jerk salmon and jollof rice. $15 is a good price! That's what I ended up getting for myself. It didn't take long for it to arrive, and it was honestly more food than I expected. The jerk seasoning was a little salty, but not enough to take away from the meal overall -- still quite enjoyable!
