"If you're searching for a dining experience that blends innovation with authenticity, Perry's is an absolute gem. My favorite is their Udon Carbonara and Chirashi Donburi, both dishes always hits the spot! The Udon Carbonara is a game-changer. The thick, chewy udon noodles--perfectly cooked--were tossed in a creamy, rich sauce that expertly balances the indulgence of classic carbonara with a fresh, subtle Japanese twist. This dish features a beautifully seasoned broth that mingles with smoky pancetta, adding a savory depth that takes the comfort food to the next level. The egg yolk on top, gently breaking into the noodles, creates a luscious, silky texture that coats each bite. It's a fusion dish that feels both familiar and wonderfully new, a must-try for any foodie-- it's so good, we keep coming back just for this dish! The Chirashi Donburi is also an absolute must. Served with an assortment of the freshest, highest-quality sashimi, this bowl is a masterpiece. Each bite was a harmonious balance of delicate, melt-in-your-mouth fish and subtly seasoned rice. What really sets this dish apart, though, is the careful attention to detail--every element on the bowl, from the pickled cucumber to the pickled ginger, felt thoughtfully placed to create a symphony of flavors and textures."
"Really nice traditional sushi restaurant next to the Hunters Woods shopping center. My partner and I went for an early dinner without a reservation, but the place filled up very quickly so it would be a good idea to have a reservation if you go after 5:30 pm. My partner and I shared the Maguro Box, which had several pieces of raw tuna sushi, sashimi, roll, and spicy tuna salad. It had excellent spicy flavors, the tuna was fresh, and it came with a basic side salad and miso soup. Since we started with the box we didn't have room for anything else beyond a few sips of Junmai sake. It was a lovely experience with attentive service and I would recommend for lunch or dinner."
Inside: shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber. Outside: tobike and honey sauce.

"I dream of this house salad! It has sashimi and a ponzu vinaigrette that keeps me coming back. I only recommend if you enjoy a citrus vinaigrette. The key to this restaurant is the fish! I would skip the ramen, fries and overpriced stuff and stick with the skewers and fish. Genki Roll - one of the best rolls I've had. The smokiness and truffle reminds me of the winner from Yume Sushi. Volcano Roll and Lava RollSashimi - great quality but wish they included more varietyToro Bowl - I'm glad they have this one the menu but needs a crunch component. If they added fried onion might add some nice crunch Grilled Saba - small size but tastes deliciousIf you absolutely have to get something other than fish enjoy the Skewers - i love the momo, gyuharami and anagoTornado Omelette Fried Rice - delicious but mentions chicken in the description and doesn't include much. Japanese Chicken Wings - don't forget to squeeze the lemonWagyu Fried Rice - delicious but definitely overpricedEvery time I come here I feel like I'm in Japan. The ambiance is so relaxing and modern. The service is always respectful."
"This tiny restaurant packs a big punch with its exceptional sushi and Japanese cuisine. Though the space is compact, it is a testament to the quality of food they serve. The sushi here is consistently fresh and vibrant. Whether it's a simple roll or a more elaborate creation, Zento never disappoints. Their carryout service is efficient and reliable, making it my go-to choice for enjoying top-notch sushi at home. The attention to detail in packaging ensures that the food arrives just as delicious as when it left the restaurant. If you're in Old Town and looking for amazing sushi, Zento Japanese Restaurant is a must-visit. Its combination of quality, flavor, and convenience makes it stand out among the rest."
"We've only ordered DoorDash from here, but it's always deliciousI love the vegetable bento boxThey have the best miso soup! Almost buttery, with the best seaweed tooEverything in my picture comes with the vegetable bento box, a lot of food.Sometimes they undercook the sweet potatoes in the tempura rollStill a great deal for $20"
"Matsu Sushi is the absolute gold standard in neighborhood sushi spots. I have been going since I was a kid and the consistency in terms of food quality, service, and pricing is amazing. My family and friends trek far and wide for a taste of this family-owned Centreville gem. A few updates or notes: They no longer do complimentary gyoza and edamame but have been able to maintain their Y2K era prices on sushi which I can appreciate. My favorite rolls include: scallop nigiri, hamachi nigiri, fatty tuna nigiri, vegas roll, spider roll, and the kabuki roll. The fried banana and ice cream is also a must, even if you are stuffed! There is a private party room in the back"
"Been awhile since I been here, but returned with my husband and 2 kids. Made reservations via yelp which was very convenient! The seating for hot pot is all counter style, but we got the seats along the curve so we could kinda face each other. My kids kids are old enough to manage and use chopsticks so we each had our own pots. The food and service were superb! My son and I had a mix of the tonkatsu and spicy miso broth with the prime rib beef and my husband and older son had the tonkotsu broth and wagyu beef. All were excellent! The wagyu beef, though expensive, was definitely worth the splurge. The waiter assisted us with every step from ordering to mixing the sauces to adding our noodles! We finished it off with mochi ice cream for dessert. Everyone loved the meal! Highly recommend this place!"
"Definitely check this place out for Omakase! Came here for lunch omakase and it was sooooo good! $100 pp chawanmushi, an appetizer dish, about 8ish sushi pieces, hand roll and miso soup and dessert. The omakase had a variety of fresh fish and all the traditional stuff you'd expect to have with hints of variation to bring out the fish. My fave was the hotate with salt and lemon. Best way to serve hotate! They take call in reservations for omakase only and then walk in for ala carte menu. A very calm and quaint sushi spot tucked away on a busy street."
"Sushi tasted great. Had four of the specialty rolls. All were delicious. The ingredients tasted fresh. The rolls came packed neatly in the containers provided by the business. Hood service on their party. I can't speak on the ambiance but they packed the rolls well in the provided containers. I would try this place again."
"Delicious local place. Good ambiance and nice service. Tuna is delicious I order all the time on UberEats and this was my first time in person. Would recommend both!"
"Just stopped by here on a whim with a friend for lunch the other day. Wonderful place. We weren't quite sure what to expect but it was kinda cool. Walk inside and WHAAAAM there are suddenly a slew of different stalls and counters and vendors to choose from. Though my picture absolutely sucks, it gives you a vague idea of that initial moment. They have bunches of tables and chairs in the middle, with shelves for napkins and tableware around.I got an order of Chicken Yakisoba, while my friend got Spicy Chicken Dupbop, from one of the counters. While I'm still not sure what either of them are (yeah, I'm 'Murkin), they both arrived quickly and were really delicious. The Pike Kitchen is easy to find and get to, right in the heart of the Pike in Rockville. Just a quick turn off of 355 into the parking lot. We got there just after lunchtime and it was not crowded, but I can easily see this place being a standard go-to for a lot of locals for lunch."
"Popped into this little Japanese spot for a quick dinner. We were a few strip malls away at Jammin Java and had a few hours to kill before the head liner. Small dining area full of locals. I absolutely know why. We were seated immediately in spite of the crowd. Near the sushi bar. Huge menu. A vast array of sushi selections and Japanese dishes. We got sushi of course (not pictured). Fresh and delicious. Lots of wasabi and pickled ginger. Then we had the spring rolls. So hot and crunchy. Packed with shrimp but not filling. GET THESE! We also had the traditional soup and salad (traditional) My dinner date lived in Japan a few years and confirmed that his Yakisoba was authentically prepared. I tasted his and it was delicious. Packed with veggies and tons of protein. My fried rice was awesome. Served piled high in a little wok. Portions were incredible. Seriously, enough for lunch the next day. They didn't have a bar but do have a good bar selection menu with mixed drinks and Japanese Beer. I had Kirin and it was ice cold and satisfying. All in all, if you're in the area, shopping or looking for a great dining experience try Sweet Ginger. Good Eats!"

We slept on Perry's for the last decade until Tom Sietsema and Washingtonian's top 100 list brought this restaurant to our attention. Husband picked Perry's for his birthday dinner, since he loves sushi, but fortunately for me (no, I do not like sushi), there were plenty of dishes other than sushi, and they were delicious. We came here for dinner on a Monday, and had no problem scoring a reservation a couple days before. The restaurant was not full through the night, but it had a good number of patrons. Of course, street parking was abysmal, this being the city. There were many sushi and non-sushi dishes on the menu, which made it hard to decide what to order. By the way, they do have a specials menu, giving us more options!I decided to go for several dishes (thinking that leftovers were possible)- edamame dumplings, chicken kaarage, udon carbonara, and the chicken nanban. My husband had the Sushi&Sashimi for one. My husband helped me with the dishes I ordered, and the dishes were not too small, but well-sized for sharing, and we finished all of the non-sushi dishes with no leftovers. I would say that the Chicken Nanban was similar to the chicken kaarage, so I wouldn't recommend getting both on the same night. Every dish was great. My husband enjoyed his sushi (but wasn't a big fan of the sashimi), and did save his roll for the next day. We also ordered dessert- bread pudding and lemon tart, both delicious. Our server was attentive and checked on us often, which was appreciated. We learned a cool fact that this place used to be a nightclub-Biltmore Ballroom, hence the B B on the windows.

Service is always great even when it's packed and it does get packed during evenings. I've been going here for a number of years since it's my wife's favorite sushi place nearby so I'm a bit biased obviously. I've tried Michelin rated sushi and a variety of different places and I frankly can't tell the difference. Maybe my palate is unrefined but overall ariake is a very nice and cozy place for families, couples, even work lunch crowds. Highly recommend the chirashi bowl.

Everything was good but not great. The food and prices weren't amazing enough to want me to go back again. The mentaiko udon was extremely creamy and portion size was small. Skewers and curry were mediocre. Fries were good. The fatty salmon was really good.

I never realized this place existed. Normally the go to sushi is Momo, but they have been difficult and different as of late. This is a small shop somewhat hidden off of Washington St. parking is a bit rough but it's old town. Entering the restaurant, the service is friendly, prompt and smooth; carrying through the rest of the meal. The place was busy but quiet. Service was responsive and direct. The food was fantastic, the spicy tuna roll has some kick to it. The speciality rolls like the dragon roll are great as well. The portion spices were good for the cost. They have much more on the menu as well but I was looking for easy sushi and got what I wanted. A small non-assuming sushi place on the edge of old town may just be the go to for me.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sushi Jin, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The food was outstanding, the ambiance was cozy and intimate, and the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and welcoming hospitality. The staff took the time to explain the menu and made excellent recommendations. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and made sure our glasses were always full and our plates were never empty. The sushi was truly exceptional. The fish was fresh and of the highest quality, and the presentation was beautiful. Each piece of sushi was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and intimate, with a long sushi bar and only a few tables. The decor was sleek and modern, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was the perfect spot for a night out with friends or a romantic evening. What really made our experience stand out, however, was the friendly and attentive staff. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, and were always happy to answer questions or make recommendations.Overall, I would highly recommend Sushi Jin to anyone looking for an exceptional sushi experience. The food is outstanding, the ambiance is cozy and intimate, and the staff is friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back!

I won't be shellfish and gatekeep this place. Matsu sushi has ebi-thing: fresh sushi/sashimi, good prices, and kind staff. I am not a huge sushi eater, but my family and I both really enjoyed a light dinner after the spa...thanks to yelp showing me what was around. Matsu sushi had great reviews and I can see why. We came around 7:00pm on a Sunday night, and it was pretty full but luckily we were sat right away mear the sushi bar. We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo, chicken teriyaki, and Sapporo. The sushi and sashimi seemed fresh and were tasty. The chicken teriyaki came on a hot plate with lots of veggies under it, and a serving of rice on the side (just fyi--doesn't come as a bento box). Waitresses were kind and didn't rush us. Gave us all appetizer salads, miso soup despite only ordering 2 entrees. Service was good. The restaurant was clean, yet a bit small. Not super trendy for the world of instagram and tik tok, just like a neighborhood sushi house. Would recommend and would return! Glad to have discovered Matsu.

I came here for my birthday dinner with my wife and we had omakase ($100 per person). The interior design is great, unique, and pleasantly quiet. Great service. It's a BYOB restaurant, and there is a liquor shop next door. Great appetizer, nigiri, miso-soup, maki-sushi, and matcha-ice cream. It's definitely one of the top-notch qualities in terms of food (literally everything). We felt this price is definitely worth (unlike other much more pricy restaurants in DC), so we would love to return. It's a five star restaurant.

"I live across the street from Ikko Sushi, which is located in the Bennington apartment building. I decided to try it out. There is a small dining area inside and plenty of outdoor seating. It had steady customers each of the three times I came in. I ordered takeout directly at the counter inside. The service is GREAT and the real reason for my review. Across my three visits, I ordered sashimi, beef udon, shrimp shumai, shoyu ramen, and yakisoba. They also have about twelve alcohol (sake) options to-go and I ordered two different kinds across my three visits. The sake is good. The food just isn't anything to write home about. Everything had a similar flavor across dishes and wasn't all that flavorful. It tasted bland. That being said, the sashimi was fresh and they had a nice variety and big pieces. I think that's where they might shine. I will try the sushi again, but won't order anything off the rest of the menu. I will probably stop in for some sake from time to time."
"Best best best value sushi ever. I think they share the same sushi supplier as makoto downstairs which is $$$$.Service is great and the sushi is amazing! Parking can be a pain but well with the effort"
"Umi is the only place I order sushi takeout from in DC. The fish is always clean and fresh and the lunch special is honestly a great deal. It comes with 2 rolls of your choice and either miso soup or salad. My go to is the salmon avocado roll. The food is ready quick even during lunch rush."
"Cute little restaurant with mind servers and amazing sushi. I wish i could come more often."
"4.5 large building with 3 restaurants within and takeout. omakase at the dear sushi 85 and nice deal, 5 course. the snacks had red miso and seaweed. the rolls were tuna and crab for old school new school but the crab was mixed with imitation and didn't blend well and also weak ricethe sushi was snapper salmon tuna yellowtail and toro all two ways, overall good garnishes, nice smoked otoroaoyuzu dessert"
"Sushi On offers a vast menu featuring dishes from across East Asia, going beyond just sushi and also have dedicated dessert section!Space & Ambiance: The restaurant itself is large and spacious, perfect for bigger groups. However, be prepared for a wait on weekends, as it gets quite crowded. I waited about 30 minutes for a table on my visit.Food Rundown: While the menu boasts variety, the execution wasn't consistent across the board. The sushi, in particular, fell short with a thicker layer of rice than I prefer. The rest of the food I tried ranged from mediocre to slightly below average.Recommendation: If you're looking for a spacious restaurant with a wide range of East Asian options, this could be worth a try, especially for larger groups. However, if high-quality sushi is your top priority, you might want to consider other options."
"Kaz is go-to sushi place for us if we want good sushi but did not book a place far in advance. They usually have tables available day before on busy weekend evenings. I always have a nice time here. They nigiri and rolls are always solid and they will grate you fresh wasabi if you ask. The sencha tea is nice is well.I like the rotating hot specials. Agadashi tofu is nice.It is casual but also elevated enough that you could do a date night here. Service is always good. There was maybe one time where service was slow but they were pretty busy that night. I have been here many times with just my husband and also taken friends and always have a nice time."
"Tons of choices for sushi- very creative and varied. The food was absolutely delicious! We got the sweet potato roll and Amigos roll plus appetizers and devoured everything! The green tea ice cream was of great quality and perfectly capped off our lunch on this hot day!"
"Takeout was very quick and smooth! Online ordering was cumbersome so just ordered onsite. Spicy Sushi Combo roll was very good and nice price. Also provided with miso and chopsticks. Will definitely try some more sushi combos. Restaurant is not very large but seemed to have ample seating. Easy parking as this building is set aside from Springfield Plaza."
"Nobu is fancy, upscale Japanese food. You go here kinda to be seen but also to experience fine dining. It's quality food for sure and great service. Can't go wrong with anything here. I love the lobster roll and the black cod."
"At first glance I thought this was more of a takeout/"fast food" location, but boy were we wrong! Hands down favorite sushi I have had since moving into the area and I've been thinking about it often! Super sweet employees and loved the hand sanitizer on each table. There is a menu and a paper menu to mark your sushi wanted. We ordered some classics but we typically stick to anything with shrimp/crab combo and it all was soo good. Even the california roll felt more upscale than usual. The spicy edamame wasn't really spicy so I'd just order the regular next time. Warm Sake was delicious and quite soothing. Ultimate fave was the Sprite being in a can. No questioning carbonation here!"
"It's Hibachi. You know what you're getting into when you go here. You're paying for the experience and less about the food. It is no different than any other Hibachi place. So for that, I got my money's worth even if the food was average. The servers were hands off and I did not notice if anyone got refills at our table. Usually in places like this, the server is all over you. I hear Happy Hours are great here though, so I'm encouraged to try their happy hour some time."
"Sits in the Corner of a mall like plaza. Walked in and asked if they were open and then offered to have seating on the ground floor or upstairs. I chose upstairs. Was seated at a place with a view of the staff building my delicious meal. I ordered a sushi tartare, Obi and rainbow roll. All were tasty. The Obi was the most interesting. I didn't care for it but least I tried it.I added a hot green tea vice an alcoholic drink this go round. Great choice. Music that was playing in the background was also an interesting mix."
"My first time at Sushi Cho and I went on a whim because my cousin and I were craving sushi. We stumbled upon this restaurant on yelp and decided to give them a try. We didn't have a reservation, for two people on a Saturday night the wait was about 15 minutes which was not bad at all. I really like the ambiance of the store, looked very organized and traditionally on theme for a sushi restaurant. The staff were very friendly. We ordered three rolls: Chesapeake Bay, Dynamite, and What a Match. We also ordered an appetizer, Seared Salmon Belly. Our favorite of the three rolls was the Chesapeake Bay which has fried oyster in it! The Seared Salmon Belly is a must order appetizer. It looks like the other yelpers agree with me too.Overall, I would definitely come here again for sushi. There are 100 specialty rolls to choose from and it was a very pleasant dining experience."
"The best sushi in the area. I absolutely love this restaurant. What a pleasure to return and have tuna, and also spiced up salmon. The shrimp rolls are full of flavor. Is it expensive? Yes but you get what you pay for here. Quality over quantity, and the portions are quite adequate. This is without a doubt a must try establishment. It is beautiful inside. Admittedly strange as the strip mall it's in is so so, but once in you are in a completely different environment. Staff and service here are top notch. Also if new to the sushi scene, the staff will have you squared away. I look forward to my next visit. A good date night place, this really does belong in the best in Burke list."
"Where did I recently read people online debating the slang definition of "smash"? Some were saying it was to demolish a meal. Some were saying... well you could probably look it up. I am going to use it in the sense of demolishing a meal:Now, I have this weird relationship with sushi. I never order it alone. I could be at the store and you'll see little to-go sushi's and I think "I should get that!" but I never do. But when a friend says, "let's get sushi" I'm like YES. LET US!So above friend usually orders from Taiko. After perusing the menu online, I got a spicy tuna roll (standard!) and a mango lobster roll. When it arrived I was like oh man I'm not gonna be able to finish this. No. I SMASHED IT. I don't know which one I liked more. It was so good. It makes me want to break my sad eating sushi alone unwritten rule, and order from them all the time. The thing is, I want to order this again because it was so good but also want to see what else is on the menu and try all the things!"
"My daughter and I got take out from here on SuperBowl night. Our regular sushi place was closed, yeah weird I know, so we needed a back up. We were very pleased and would definitely return and dine in next time. The order was ready on time, staff were nice and got me checked out quickly. The presentation even for take out was quite nice. I want to note that when I went in to pick it up, there were other folks dining in and it gave me confidence I was going to like what we gotWe loved everything!"
"Sushi spot in Mosaic. Service is quick and attentive. Some of the sushi had a nice kick to it. The bowl was hearty. Tempura was lightly battered. Everything went well with a bottle of sake. Ambiance was underwhelming."
"I love the concept.... but don't come here starving... i love sushi... and they have my favorites.. you pick what you want... each plate... is coded with a price... it adds up quick though.. sushi is fresh and tasty. Service is great too... come here alone or make your man treat you ..cuz you deserve it....Make room for dessert at Cinnabon lol"
"Well, there are a lot of good restaurants in this area, no doubt.Really great restaurants come immediately to mind when we think of a particular type of meal.Really great means fantastic food with taste and texture and presentation and prompt professional table service. Our continuing go to for sushi is Koi Koi.Recommended by good friends several years ago we made that long drive to Falls Church from Arlington.Spur of the moment thoughts about dinner with friends sushi was the topic. The obvious choice was Koi KoiWe ordered spider rolls, avocado rolls, sashimi and it was beautiful, fresh and so tasty."
"It's like going to Disney World as an older kid. Still fun, but not the same. Before I go, endless grilled tiger shrimp swim through my mind......dreams of Waygu beef slices on perfect mushrooms and slabs of sashimi on clouds of rice. But afterwards, afterwards...the grand illusion crumbles to the ground in a shameful, dyspeptic, thud. The service and ambiance are good."
"Love their spicy pork don! Service is decent, but usually anything I order here I never regret. Love their sushi too."
"Finally got around to trying the hibachi at Sakura. It does not disappoint. You get the traditional Teppanyaki experience here, you sit around a big flat cooktop and the whole show happens in front of your eyes. We were a group of 7 and all had the full experience of hibachi. The meal includes salad, clear soup, veggies, fried rice, 2 shrimp, and your protein of choice. Noodles are $3.50 extra but worth the money. A great tip is to ask for extra egg for the fried rice and add extra garlic to everything being prepared. It really elevates the flavor. I ordered the filet mignon and shrimp entree, my wife ordered the rib eye steak. The filet was nice and tender but my wife's ribeye was superior in flavor. All the food was prepared correctly, the steak was juicy and flavorful and seafood was nice and tender. This gentleman knew his businesses. We had kids with us and the chef was kind enough to give us a heads up when the pyrotechnics happened. It's this kind of courtesy that adds to the whole dining experience."
