"A lovely local grocery store with everything one could want from fresh produce, frozen food, sandwiches to order, wine, coffee, yummy pastries, various selection of snacks, desserts, and so much more.We were so pleased to find this gem with high quality natural food with excellent service by owners who care about the community. You should absolutely visit and enjoy just like we did every day of our stay in the local area. The concept of a local Modern Mom and Pop grocery store is unique and every community should be so lucky!"
"Man this place was awesome! Not many liquor stores are open until midnight by a college campus so I appreciated that. The staff was kind and welcoming, they were super helpful and patient throughout their small rush they had closer to close. The prices are pretty affordable, however, I just wish they would accept Apple Pay! I would've spent a lot more money for the get together we were having. I'll definitely be returning here and encourage you all to check them out. They have side parking a little down the street from them but it can fill up quickly! Definitely bus accessible though!"
"Amazing liquor store really competitive prices and everyone there is super helpful!!! I think they had a good selection and the person even told me that if I don't find something they could order it!"
"It's pretty wacky that I could feel such strong feelings for a liquor store. It totally blind sided me, to be honest. After a trek through DC one early evening, I was looking to get my booze on. Living in Virginia, I'm not used to liquor stores looking nice and inviting. I have to deal with awful state-run stores and awful taxes. Walking around AdMo, I just so happened to stop into Virginia Market. I couldn't believe how clean and bright and inviting it was. It was not the first DC liquor store I went to, so I know that's not how all of them are. I couldn't believe that the liquor wasn't behind some counter and that everything was clearly labeled! What was this place?! There was great selection also... Not just of the alcohol, but also of the snack foods. (I liked that there was a freezer chest full of ice cream in the front.) They had a pretty good stock of Asian alcohol, too. However, I was specifically craving shochu, which they didn't carry. They did have soju though, so it was still ok! The owners both seemed really sweet. I didn't interact with them much, but I definitely got a vibe that they were good people. It's crazy how attached to this store I became during my brief visit! I don't live in the area, so I don't know when I'll be back, but I know if I were a DC local, I'd make a special trip just to hit up this store."
"I'm not really sure I understand this place. There is no seating out inside only seating outside if you want pasta, you can only eat it inside but I guess you have to spend $25 and eat it standing up. There's a wine beer insider and you think the price on the bottle is how much it cost, but if you want to eat, drink the wine at the location they charge you an extra $15 I bought a $20 bottle of cider and ended up spending $35 for it then they go cheaper than going to a bar really? The pizza was very tasty and I like the flavor combinations, and the salad was lovely. I think both of them were worth every cent. There was a long line outside for people wanting to get ice cream. I asked some people how long they had been standing in line and they were not sure they close at 8:30 on the weekends. It seems I'm just not sure why this place is so popular."
"Never thought I'd review a liquor store, but this one really impressed me.Spacious, well lit, great selection, and awesome service! The guy at the front was so cool and helpful. Love this liquor store!"
"I've known about this store for a while but hadn't had the opportunity to stop by until today. Needing a holiday gift for a friend who loves Irish whisky, I dropped in as it was on my way from an appointment. There's about 6 to 8 parking spots along the building, fairly easy to access if turning off of Blair or 4th. The store front & building paint are in good repair. The lady I met & her staff (super helpful & friendly) were busy stocking, organizing, & also putting up this excellent display in the liquor area for the holidays. They have a massive wine & beer selection as well (not pictured). She said she has been in charge for about one year now & her focus has been on making the store clean, well-organized, and with a great variety of selection. I frequent liquor stores for wines, whiskies, & IPAs so I've seen the gamut of what's on offer in the DMV area & I can say S&S is the best organized & stocked that I've seen. On this visit, I was able to pick up two Irish whiskies I've not seen anywhere else, one being for my friend who I think will be pleased.I'll be back over to S&S!"
"Sara's Market was recently taken over by the fine folks who run Dent Place Market over in G'town West Village. Much like Dent Place Market, Sara's sells high quality local products, and pantry staples, along with the best fresh made sandwiches, coffee, and pasta salads. They also offer dry cleaning, and a wide selection of wines and beers. The owners are incredibly kind and friendly, and are 100% committed to making their two markets neighborhood staples."
"I love the vibes at Dacha. I love the open space and freedom to move around and mingle with friends. Their service was cute and kind. I came during their all day happy hour on Monday. I wish the happy hour food menu was extended for more options. I ordered the steak sandwich i and it was pretty good. For the happy hour $10 price, I think this is a fair sandwich, but I would not pay full price for it."
"We came here for a group dinner last Wednesday. The restaurant was partly filled around 6pm. It was my first time trying Peruvian food so I was excited. I was not familiar with many of the options on the menu. The staff was very helpful with providing great advice. We started with a round of drinks. The Chicha Rum was delicious. The Latin Ice was bitter and did not have much flavor. The Inca Kolada was very strong and had an interesting mix. The rest of our group decided to stick with beers. For food I decided to try the Peruvian Sushi. I ordered the Acevichado Roll and the Tumi Roll. They were the top favorites on the menu. The presentation for the sushi was awesome. They were very similar but had very distinct tastes. They were packed with fried shrimp and topped with cream cheese and avocado. I ordered two rolls of five pieces each and it was enough to fill me up for dinner. For dessert we ordered the Sweet Sampler. This gave us a variety of items to try instead of ordering one piece of cake. It came with alfajores, churros, tres leches, suspiro, and flan. I love flan and tres leches so those were amazing. It was my first time trying alfajores and churros. They were very sweet and delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the options. Inca Social was a cool place to try. If I am in the mood for Peruvian food I will stop by here again."
"Don't think size here think quality. They nailed it! Their muffuletta tastes like the ones at Central Grocery or Katie's in New Orleans with 2 minor exceptions. The olive salad is chunkier but love that I can see and crunch on all that spicy veggie goodness. And yes it's much smaller y'all cause that's just the way it is outside of NOLA. But for my money this is a solid muff with the fresh sesame seed bread and the meats and cheese piled high. Ate one half room temp and heated the other in a pan recommended by a guy at Central Grocery (my fav). So what if you don't get to make several meals out of this littler version. Get it and be happy!"
"This is a cute neighborhood shop with a robust and tasty sandwich counter that, as a sandwich lover, I wish I could find more of in Northern VA. The staff is super friendly and there is a great selection of products and brands to choose from.I also love that it's near downtown Bethesda, but just on the edge so that you don't have to get mixed up in the chaotic downtown traffic."

Was randomly walking by and decided to pop in and check it out. I couldn't believe how cute it was inside! They do fun events on the weekend evenings in their private event space downstairs--like arts & crafts, stand up comedy, and more. The owner is a veteran and was super friendly. I got an iced vanilla latte and a Sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel and he made both to order. While I waited, I noticed they have a suggestion box too and the owner mentioned a lot of the things they have in the store now came from customer suggestions. Such a cool spot!

You will not find another liquor store with an owner and patronage as easy going as you will here. JP is honored to see his returning customers flash their smiles as he always has what they are looking for. Walking in, you're immediately greeted by two walls lined with selections from floor to ceiling. There is literally not a choice you won't be happy with walking away buying. Did I mention there is a discount on wine on Mondays and Tuesdays? See, now you won't have to wait until wine Wednesdays to save some dinero. As a new owner of this store, JP has hosted a few community events already in his short half year being open. Always check in with JP to see what he has up his sleeves, but it's usually a grand time.

This is by far my favorite place to pick up a six pack in the area. When I moved here form Portland, OR I was a little worried about the ability to find good craft beer in DC but my fears were put to rest when I found this place. Not only do they have a wonderful selection of craft beers (and almost nothing from the big bad beer guys) but the lady who runs the place will go out of her way to get anything you ask for. I absolutely love that I can go in there, ask for my favorite beers, and she'll have them in a week or two. What kind of store does that? I Love this place. Go try some fancy beer if you haven't already. I'd recommend the 22's of Green Flash Imperial IPA if you're really looking for a good time. Or a six pack of Hop Ottin' IPA will do.. Keep it up guys - You're the best!

Found this spot on IG and decided to give it a try during a 3-day trip to DC with a friend. We had dinner on Friday and were so pleased that we returned the next day. Service was great on both occasions, the team is super friendly and helpful with menu recommendations. Super cute interior with a good wine selection. We tried several appetisers and pastas (some not pictured), everything was absolutely delicious. The daily wine options by the glass were great as well. The pasta menu is only available for dine-in and there are no seated tables, unusual but we enjoyed the experience! Ended both meals with ice cream from the booth outdoors.Special shoutout to Eric; my friend had wanted to purchase some hot sauce to-go, we tried it with the pork gyros and it was really good - and Eric made it happen (we got the very last available bottle!).

Beautiful hidden gem of a liquor store. The place is beautifully lit and has a ton of liquor for any budget. They greet you as soon as you enter and not in the weird watching you kind of way but a hey I'm glad you found your way here way.

Just checked out their reopened location and it's far better then the old iteration. Bigger, newer, and a better selection all around. They have a great wine selection with many different things to try. The prices are about the same as anywhere else so I know I won't get ripped off here. The beer selection is solid, but they don't really carry much speciality stuff. They mostly have the known brands. The liquor seems to be all the stuff you would want. I wish they had more info on the wines, suggestions, or something to help you pick out new stuff. Always nice to get a recommendation when there are hundreds of options. Overall it's a great place to stock up.

This is as neighborhood-small business as it gets. I specifically came to try the market's small deli in the back. They keep the menu small, but everything sounds amazing. I got one of the freshly made paninis - the Prosciutto Mozzarella Arugula Tomato and Pesto. While waiting for the order, I walked around the shop, a great option for shopping for a party or night-in or grabbing snack. The wine collection is small, but diverse. Big plus for a lot of Asian brands, too. The warm panini made it the 20-minute walk home warm and still fresh. The ingredients complimented each other well - think the strong flavor of the sun-dried tomato with the mozzarella and prosciutto. Really great option for lunch if you are in Georgetown and want to try something off M St. or Wisconsin!

"I love snacks and anyplace in the Columbia Heights area that isn't always packed, is right up my alley. But and there are always buts, Odd Provisions is very much a hipster spot. Though usage of the term is waning, supplanted by millenials, Odd Provisions is one of those markets. Now, I like Odd Provisions, because the set-up is cool, everyone working there that I've interacted with is nice and there are cool snacks, I like the chip and drink selection a lot. Yes the prices, can be a little more than other places but I'm not mad at that. Rent's high for everyone and chains make it hard out here for variety--the stuff of life. Now the hipster element that I found off putting is I personally, hate when products, produced by non-native speakers use AAVE on the label or for the brand name. It just comes off, in a word, "wack" to me. Maybe I was just in sad mode that day but I doubt it. I feel like that's something that tends to happen most with smaller companies and brands, and a hook is necessary but don't be being egregious with it.*On a side note. They Odd Provisions has a really nice selection of local products. I bought some tea cubes because they looked cute and I love tea and come to find out, they were made on Bladensburg Road NE. So, do check out Odd Provisions. Get some sauces for that stir-fry you are cooking tonight to save money or fresh onigiri for the road.*I am well aware that "be" alone would suffice in Standard American English. In African American Vernacular English, I used the uncommon yet grammatically correct "be being" to add emphasis."
"The view of the river is so beautiful but the food was even better! We got the jerk wings, Plantains and spicy beef patties. Everything was really delicious, with fantastic flavors and just the right amount of spice. I got a strawberry Long Island ice tea which was great and not too sweet. During happy hour it's on sale for $8. Even though I paid full price it was worth it. The server was very helpful and attentive especially Dre who kept coming back to make sure everything was good. I can't say enough good about this place. Great food! Good drinks! Beautiful location! Great service!"
"Passing by and thought I try them out. Glad I did. They were conveniently located on the corner of 11th Street (in the name..lol). Close to my accommodations and off the bus line. Ambiance 4/5 Great decor inside and outside patio w/ great options for solo diners. Didn't feel awkward. Service & Food 5/5 Great service, personable and attentive staff, lovely ambiance and patio. Beautiful weather.. The food was fresh and flavorful. Good I stopped in. $82.00 including tipEmpanadas $14 * Pena Coloda $14 Salmon dish $27 total of 72.00 including added gratuity. Overall 4/5 Great ending to a wonderful trip!"
"I ordered a sandwich platter for a work event and everyone loved it. The favorite seemed to be the Italian hoagie but the chicken salad was really good too"
"Selection doesn't even come close to Schneider's, but they've got a solid variety of Ron Swanson juice at competitive prices with the occasional less common find. Staff is a little aloof, but it's nice that they can ring customers up on multiple registers before bottlenecking us back out the corner entrance. The Starr Hill vendor offering a beer tasting was an unexpected bonus. We'll be back to shop when we're in the neighborhood again."
"On a recent fine September day, I was driving down Connecticut with a gorgeous blond girl in the back seat of my car, heading vaguely towards Chevy Chase circle and its emporium of liquor stores. The light at Nebraska stopped me, I gazed right and saw this place. As if by magic a parking spot opened up in front and I turned around, looked at Soccerballgirl and said - "let's go get some beer for Daddy"Poor selection of beer - and overpriced compared to half a mile up the street. Troeg's for $10 or $11 a six pack was the best I could do. Didn't seem to be much else on offer except lottery tickets. If you are stuck in a pinch it will do - but if you have wheels head up the street and take your pick from MacGruder's Circle liquors or Chevy Chase liquors, all of which leave this place in the dust."
"These guys know their stuff and are my go to for hard to find liquors. They carry wine also although that isn't my thing so won't go into it here. On separate occasions I've needed Underberg (a German aperitif) and Unicum (a Hungarian staple). Both time I came by to ask if they carried these, I was met with "pretty sure we do, let me get it from downstairs" and they did. Their basement is a magical place of every liquor known to man apparently. In the case of the Unicum, they said that they were working on getting some of the original formula which is no longer exported to the United States. I was looking for the newer formula anyway so it worked out, but I'm impressed that they were going through the effort to stock a liquor with a limited customer base.To top it all off, they are very affordable. They could charge an arm and a leg given their location and the variety of liquors stocked. Another star for them if I could give them 6 stars. Affordable anything in DC, particularly M St in Georgetown is a a rarity."
"Alcohol buying is never fun. It can be exciting if you are in the mood to try new drinks like wine. But, at the same time, it can be quite intimidating, much like having to climb Mt Everest, on your knees, blindfolded! Trust me, I've been there (not Mt Everest) but having to tackle endless rows of wines or whiskey trying to pick the right one! More often than not, I have come out of the store with either no purchase, or a bad pick, or just the same old stuff! That's where Imperial comes in ! Bobby (or frankly anyone else) are really good at learning about your needs and then suggesting the best option for you. Their recommendations have always worked for me and I have been thankful of their assistance :)They have a good and curated selection of any type of alcohol that you are in the market for and often at the best prices around. Some of their prices have been comparable to Costco!I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking to buy some alcohol and wants good recommendation and price!"
"Great, surprisingly large liquor store I found near my hotel. From first glance it looks tiny, but it keeps going and going and going. Beer, wine, spirits, oh my. You name it, it's here.I fell in love with this place because they introduced me to wine in a can. That's right people, boxed wine? So pedestrian. All the cool kids drink their wine out of a can. Knowing I'm a connoisseur, he said, "we have chilled wine in the cooler". Lets just say I was in heaven. The best $7.99 I've ever spent. To the good people at Sherry's Wine & Spirits I say thank you. Thank you for introducing me to wine in a can and for your great customer service."
"Probably the best Italian food I've ever had (granted I've never been to Italy)- such a sweet staff and amazing service, very quaint and authentic setting perfect for a group dinner or dates"
"This place is more than just your average liquor store. Housebar is a one stop shop designed to help you create the perfect drink in your home. It's also Black-owned! I live in the neighborhood so I stopped in one day to feed into my curiosity. Kevin did a great job at explaining the concept to me and highlighting some of the great selections. They have a pretty nice selection of spirits, wine, beer and snacks! I prefer whiskey and they had a lot of my favs in there. They even have individual canned cocktails from California if you need something small but necessarily an entire bottle. I stopped in NYE to grab a bottle ring in the new year and also add to my collection. Kevin did a great job of offering up some recommendations. If you need help crafting a cocktail they will help you pick out all of the ingredients. I even saw some good items for mocktails. I love that they partner with local businesses so if you're looking for a local product, this is your spot. If you don't see something you're looking for just ask and they'll let you know if they have it or if it'll be coming soon. They have tasting events and you can even taste some of the spirits in store. The snack section is pretty solid. Boozy ice cream is definitely a plus. This is going to be a neighborhood staple whenever I'm in need of some liquor."
"Stopped in because they had a sign out front saying "Complimentary Wine Tasting." There were people who were walking right by it! Maybe they were illiterate?Anyway, not only was there free wine, there also free beer! I didn't buy any because I was in a rush (too much of a rush to buy beer, not too much of a rush to drink it), but this place has totally earned my business next time I'm in the area."
"It's probably the best wine and spirit store in DC. Every time I go there, the staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and I always find what I am looking for. They have a great selection. They also have a deli, which I don't use, but there is always a line, which makes me think it's pretty good."
"3.5 stars There used to be a long hair guy here -- he was awesome -- totally knew his wine -- and was very nice as well. 1 part deadhead and 1 part vinophile make an interesting combo.I think the 2001 Shirvington Shiraz was 99 points -- you couldn't get it anywhere except for brookers that charged 3x retail (at a minimum) -- well he got 3 bottles and sold one to me at retail. The place is the size of a closet -- and his selection per square inch was probably the best in DC. Since he left the place's selection has suffered a little, but it is still one of the best places in the neighborhood to pick up a bottle of wine."
"5/5!Cute & quaint restaurant in Adams Morgan. Reserved a spot for restaurant week and enjoyed every dish. Also, our waitress was super friendly & knowledgeable! I wish I could remember her name."
"This is as good as it gets in the District! Before I discovered Sunset Spirits, I would go to the sketchy bodegas or those inflated liquor stores to get the good stuff, but I always come out feeling robbed - either in quality or money! I thought to myself life isn't fair! Then I came across Sunset Wine & Spirit. This is hands down the best liquor store in the district - better than Barrel House on 14th. You can get hard liquor imported from India, the Caribbean, etc. - I'm not talking about the Bacardis and the Captain Morgans, I'm taking about the unheard of stuff that goes down extra smooth. Plus . . . (drumroll) . . . it's at a great price! Also, the guys that run the place are extra nice."
"Stopped by during St. Patrick's Day weekend for some of their specials and the Cajun Coast food truck. All menus are inside including the one for Cajun Coast food truck. The place is kept clean and all the staff members are friendly. Lots of families and young children are always here on the weekends. The wait for food was short and Irish music was playing as we enjoyed the specials. Everything was delicious. The corned beef and brussel sprout cheesesteak was stuffed with meat; would've liked a bit more of the sprouts as my child really liked them. The Cajun catfish was po boy was well seasoned and flavorful. Both po boy and cheesesteak weren't very heavy. The Irish stout stew poutine was good. The fries were not soggy despite being smothered in beef stew and cheese. There were plenty of beef chunks and soft carrots and onions. The Irish Old Fashioned Cocktail was also delicious: Irish whiskey, green tea, peach nectar, and cardamom bitters. If I had more stomach space, I would've liked to order all the specials."
"Close to our home, we pass this establishment frequently and decided to drop by on as a second venue stop since the offer small plates and a great assortment of wine and a few selections of beer on tap. We started with a Portuguese wine and a draft beer and a beer paired with a delicious beer crostini, ricotta, topped with pistachios . Mostly outdoor seating we chose indoor due to the smoke that we brought from California (smoke from Canada fires). The service was spectacular checking on us and explaining that they feature a different wine of the day every week and free wine tasting on Friday 4-7. It's also a small market with fresh brewed coffee, a nice selection of wine and other small products. We loved it as it was very relaxing as we wound down our Friday night."
"Consistently excellent beer selections, choices galore, options on size of pour, and cocktails that are equally on-point. If you're on or near Capitol Hill Southeast, there is no reason to go anywhere else for a brew."
"Great liquor store. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. With a combination of a great selection in ciders, beers, liquor, a very clean shop, and growler refills it's the best place to shop in the area. They run pricey at times, but it's worth it."
"I was amazed with my new tasting contract I landed. This friendly out the way Wine & Spirit Store was dominated by a huge construction project right next door and that totally would be overlooked. Even with its few missing storefront letters, inside I was met with the friendliest managerial staff who treated me like I was the owner, lol. Brook and Leon you made my tasting company feel very welcome. Thanks to all the customers who purchased from me and the distributor partnership.Cheers The Timid Palate"
"They had a pretty good selection of whiskey and the staff were friendly. I like how you can order for pickup as well. I wanted a limited whiskey and they had it (Maker's Mark The Heart Release) but had to pay about $30 over MSRP sadly. However, it was the lowest price in the DC area that I could find so that's a plus for them at least!"
"AWESOME local market with a small amount of offerings- but a very good selection.Honestly the main reason for stopping in during our Sunday stroll, was the hot dogs in the window & the sign out front- And I must say... I WISH I WENT BACK FOR ANOTHER! Wooooooooow!!! Best dogs in DC!I will be adding this hot dog to my weekly line up...!!!! Happy to have this neighborhood spot, you'll always have my business. Toasted brioche bun, hot dog cooked perfectly- all the fixin's! (My mouth is watering just writing this!) The customer service was wonderful, very friendly & neighborhood feels! Also got a few other snacks, all were fantastic & locally hand picked for this store.-The PRETZEL TOFFEE RIPPLE, by MT Desert Island--local ice cream...was bomb! Will be back again this week for more 'dogs' + snacks!! So happy to have stumbled on this place today!!!!"
