"Okay, the low reviews for this place are absurd. I was expecting a gross Chinese carry-out when I saw the Yelp score. But there it was. On GrubHub. Late. And I wanted sushi. ....I know. Sushi. From a 2.5 star place named "Annie Chen's" that also sells general tso's chicken. It was real good, y'all. It's not Sushi Taro or Sushi Hachi. But it's really solid late night sushi. I've been back several times. Delivery is fast and friendly. Nigiri and rolls are reasonably fresh. I probably wouldn't order the scallops, but I'm coming back for sushi specials all the time."
"A wonderful cafe run by a lovely Korean couple. They use fresh ingredients, and are so friendly! I just moved to the area and found this cafe as highly rated, and I couldn't agree more! Bulgogi bowl is authentic and delicious. Panini sandwiches are amazing, especially Chipotle chicken. And freshly baked chocolate chip cookies every day! I just wish they were open on the weekends! It's a Monday-Friday cafe, catering to the office employees in the area. Definitely check it out!"

"Customer Service is a big deal to me - especially when it comes to food trucks. In the case of Sang on Wheels, few come close to how amicable they are. This was my second visit in three years only because, until the DC Food Truck Lottery (love it or hate it), they did not visit near my work very often. I didn't recall from my first visit anything extraordinary about their service, but that was not long after they started...I think their first week. Anyway now, Sang on Wheels seems to go out of their way to leave a positive impression with each and every customer. In my case, not only did I get what I ordered, she doubled the amount of noodles that would typically come with the meal and added extra chicken too. This was no exception as my coworker got the same and we were each given free egg rolls too. I also ordered the Asian Empanada which is apparently a new offering. Overall, the chicken and noodles I would give a 3 or 3.5...but the volume of food for the money bumps it to a solid 4. The egg rolls and empanadas? 5.0 hands down. The impact of the DC Food Truck Lottery has largely been negative for the consumer in the Foggy Bottom area as variety is sorely lacking compared to before. But this is one exception where they brought an elusive truck back to my backyard.Check them out...but make sure that you are hungry!"
"We live at The Wharf and were excited to try this. Unfortunately, the food was not great. We ordered garlic noodles with steak. The dish was pretty plain and lacked flavor. The steak did not seem to be high quality. The manager in his defense said that this noodle is designed to be simple. However, a dish can be simple but should also be tasty. For the pumpkin soup, the color was very dark without any garnish. The after taste of the soup was bitter and we did not finish. The service was really good and manager wrote off the noodles from our check based on our feedback. Our waiter was very considerate and nice. They were trying to integrate a bit American/Thai/Korean/Filipino. It is an interesting concept but it turned out to be a hodgepodge with no clear identity."
"Today is my second time here I have been raving about this place since my first visit which was on Sunday July 21st. I brought my daughter today to this establishment and I am truly disappointed. I ordered the seafood ramen with all the works and I ordered her a simple beef ramen. Our food was cold including the broth. I don't know if it's different because it was the weekend when we ordered but it should be the same quality during the weekday as well. I spent well over $50 plus dollars. SMH"
"Panda Dumpling is an adorable little restaurant. I got their Panda Dumplings and Crab Rangoons and was very happy with the price, serving, and quantity. The service was excellent, too. The staff were super nice and even offered me a complimentary fruit tea (which was delicious). I will be going again."
"The decor is dated, the restaurant does not give a "clean" vibe, and the bathroom was gross. IMO, the bathroom says a lot about any establishment. The service staff was a little odd almost like it wasn't the year 2024 nor were they giving professional staff energy. The food: the "spring rolls" were NOT spring rolls. They were skinny egg rolls and the sauce proved it...duck sauce and not fish sauce. Some people may like that cabbage filling, but call it what it really is. The eel and avocado rollers horrendous! Thick, doughy rice with chewy, fatty eel pieces. Miso soup was so salty...why?! The chicken pad see ew was actually tasty and so was the chicken stir fry. I can see ordering to go items if you're a local , but would not go for a sit down meal again."
"Located in the same location as the original Taco Ssam, Ssam Kitchen specializes in chicken sandwiches, saltenas, tamales and Korean fried or steamed dumplings.Chicken for the sandwich was marinated in buttermilk and was juicy flavorful and perfectly cooked. The bread was rather pedestrian, would like to see a better quality roll. While I really liked the sandwich, I just could not justify going there just for the sandwich and while the other options looked interesting, I think I will stick to Taco Ssam and Chick-fil-A when I am in the mood for a chicken sandwich."
"Just an update on their happy hour. I looked up a few items and one was $12 reduced from $13 for happy hour.I am happy to pay full price. I am not happy to be told I am benefiting from a small markdown. There will be no happy hours in my future."
"Serving great sushi and other authentic Asian dishes this is a great neighborhood spot with fresh seafood and great prices. They have a full menu featuring noodle dishes, Thai, Indian, and an assortment of sushi and fresh seafood. The service was great we didn't have to wait to long for our food and they have a full bar menu as well. They also have lunch specials. This is a great local spot to get some fresh seafood and I can't wait to go back to try some other items on their menu."
"Food is consistently good as is the service. Been there many times over the years, always a "must have" when in Bethesda. Recommend it!Kind of pricy but is good. Appetizers do the job."
"I can't say enough good things about this place. It is my favorite Thai restaurant in Alexandria. The customer service is good, the restaurant is always clean and cozy and the food is incredible. My favorite menu item is the Chicken Basil with a fried egg. The Japanese sidecar is super refreshing and is a great twist on my favorite cocktail. Bathroom as are always clean also."

I have finally found decent priced sushi in DC. Everywhere in this expensive town is, you guessed it, expensive. Sushi is already pricey, so the combination leads to some very unfortunate results. Annie Chen's has a number of lunch specials that aren't just reasonable, but below market price. As a reviewer and a consumer, this is far and away what I care about most. While some of their other options are a bit pricier than fair market price, this place is the only one in DC I have found where that isn't the rule for the whole menu. Stop by here during the week from 11 AM - 2:50 PM for some delicious food for a great price.Additionally, service was great and the restaurant has great location and interior. But again, most importantly, this place has really tasty food at some really reasonable prices.

Sang on Wheels offers plentiful servings of Thai favorites. I was expecting more heat from a truck run by a Laotian person, but the flavors are still good, though not as fiery as traditional Thai.My vegetarian drunken noodles included a generous heaping of chewy wide rice noodles, broccoli (could be cut a little smaller), julienned (used loosely) carrots, and fried tofu. Sang's version wasn't spicy, but it was well-seasoned otherwise. I appreciated that it wasn't overly salty, as many drunken noodle renditions can be. The noodles also weren't clumpy and perfectly al dente, another point for that. An appeal to the owner: give this dish some heat and make the broccoli more bite-size, and it'll be even better! At nine bucks, the vegetarian drunken noodles is an average-priced item from a DC food truck. Adding a protein like shrimp will of course bring your price up a little more. Nothing outrageous, typical.Though not extraordinary, Sang on Wheels, from what I have tried so far, provides tasty and fresh to-go meals. Besides assorted stir fries, they also offer a soup of the day. Today's special was pho, which is apparently also quite popular in Laos.

What a great night! My friend Dante and I are not from here and just walked around to find a spot. The chef in the front grilling some skewers got our attention initially and the food was incredible. Highly recommend the garlic noodles and shrimp and also the pumpkin soup was amazing. Bobby our server crushed it and gave excellent service. Leslie the manager was super kind as well. Definitely will come back!

With the loss of Bubble Mochi and Gem Tea, Panda Dumpling brings in fierce competition and a lot of people excited for their open!I came here around 11:20 am and it was already packed! Keep in mind that the parking lot here is quite small, but there was a line for orders. There's soup dumplings, dumplings, bubble teas, rice bowls, and some soups. My dad and I ordered a few things such as the panda dumplings (pork + fried), pork soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, sesame balls, some bubble teas and the unagi don.All were super tasty and came out quickly! Our favorites were the panda pork fried dumplings, the scallion pancakes, unagi don and the sesame balls. The staff were super nice, and there's a small handful of seating here, so come early to snag some spots!

This is a gem in the wall right off of Leesburg pike. They serve a variety of Latin American specialties and as authentic as I've had for the area. They were out of most dishes by the time we got there so we just quickly grabbed some reasonably priced sopas which were as mouthwateringly delicious as they were artful. Ssam kitchen as well as the new Korean Mexican fusion neighbor Taco Ssam are going to make a real name for themselves!

"My favorite Thai place in MoCo. Pad thai, pork belly, and green curry are all excellent. I wish they would bring back their string beans appetizer. It was the best thing on the menu. It's more of a takeout place than a dine in since they have maybe 15 tables."
"Don't let the negative reviews deter you. This is one of the best restaurants in the DMV. Amazing beef and seafood hot pots and mapo tofu. We're going to try the dumplings and regular noodle dishes next. Highly recommended."
"The tofu bahn mi was amazing! Seriously. The ingredients were fresh and the sauces on the sandwich were irresistible. I honestly can't wait to get that sandwich again it was so so so good. It's hard to find a good vegetarian bahn mi usually, so look no further because the one here is perfect and extremely filling.I came here with my whole team for lunch and it was easy to order at the kiosks downstairs and just pick up our food to go. The wait wasn't too bad either. Everyone loved their bahn mis with different protein options. My teammate also loves the magnum rolls. The only thing that wasn't a winner for everyone was the fried rice - they said it was only ok. So just get a bahn mi instead you know you want one :)"
"I was in the neighborhood and had a taste for Korean food. I realized I had never been here, so it was time to change that. I was prepared to indulge in KBBQ.... but all the KBBQ tables were actually occupied, and I was kinda hungry, so I opted to just grab the regular table. All that to say, the place is spacious enough, but while it was full it didn't feel chaotic, and that's a great thing! I got water almost immediately and was given a menu. I decided to get the shrimp/veggie shumai and dukbokki (tteokbokki), which is a delicious rice cake (not the Quaker brand ones) soupy dish... I decided to get the one with seafood in it. I was pleased when the massive platter came out with four banchan dishes, including potatoes, kimchi, beansprouts and cucumber. I loved them all! The dukbokki was bomb -- though I will say some of the shrimp was extra chewy, and some seafood was still in its shell. Being a soupy dish as it was, it was kind of messy to isolate that and get to the meat -- but that's not enough to take away from delicious everything was. After the shumai and dukbokki, I was beyond full... but still very happy. Next time I will return to do the KBBQ. Looking forward to it!"
"I didn't know anything about Peruvian Criollo, Chinese Chifa or Japanese Nikkei cooking before stepping into this restaurant. I'm not sure that I could begin to explain what any of these cuisines are, even after dining here. But what I can say is: I like them a lot.The "Lunch in Lima" option is a good value. It's 3 courses and all 3 cuisines are represented in some way.Yucca fries, a 1st course possibility, has a simple name however is anything but. The mash-up of yucca, kabayaki sauce, aji amarillo sauce, and bonito flakes is out of this world. I could eat those every day of my life. Donburi ji song, my choice for 2nd course, is a concoction of sir-fry chicken, pickled daikon radish, rice, onion, avocado, and kung pao sauce that's sprinkled with finely chopped peanuts. It's subtle and yet hearty. For dessert, 3rd course, I went with the "suspiro limeña". It's a crazy, tubular-looking sweetened condensed milk custard topped with a crunchy meringue and passion fruit. It arrives flat on a plate and seems to a piece of geometric art. At first, I wasn't sure if it was to be eaten! It's sugary and tart all at once but grows on you slowly. Also tried the "Lucky 12". This is a presentation of dainty shumai which features 4 pieces of 3 types: chicken (pollo sui); pork & shrimp (tradicional); and a combo creation (dorado). The dorado comes topped with quail eggs and gold flakes--decadent. My favorite is the tradicional shumai because of the jicama and shiitake mushroom mixed in. The black vinegar dipping sauce that accompanies rocks big time. The various dishes are carefully plated and presented. I imagine there was much experimentation to arrive at a menu that is balanced and respectful to the 3 nations (Peru, China and Japan) that are honored here. Additionally, the artwork, furniture, and layout of the space is lovely. It all adds up and becomes the space that is China Chilcano.I think it works quite well and find the food to be bold and tasty."
"A classic in Rockville. It had been a while since my family and I had lunch here, and it was good as always! They have more bare-boned ambiance and service, but very efficient and effective. And most importantly, the food is still stellar and addictive. Such a nostalgic spot for me and will definitely be back:)"
"Surprisingly, good food. Really fresh and delicious food and an extensive menu. Usually, that would worry me, but this restaurant pulled it off.Sandy made the night so special. If I have a chance to come back again. we will be back and we will ask for Sandy. Thanks for such amazing customer service Sandy"
"I had just landed at Reagan National Airport when I decided to grab some wings on my way to my room. The local Bonchon was only a few miles away and in the same direction I was going to. I drove straight there and they had good parking in the shopping center. There was no line when I entered and I place my order ( this location does not sell the Korean wine Soju ) and sat down. Decided to read a couple reviews on yelp and to my surprise they had some of the worst ratings I've ever seen for any Bonchon in this country. Now I'm nervous, my orders already in and I'm not sure what to think. So I just decided to observe the establishment to see how they were operating. Can I spot the problems. This Bonchon location is a little bit smaller than what I'm used to seeing but they were generally clean ( the bathroom too ) and the atmosphere was pleasant. There was a couple sitting at the table enjoying their meal and each other's company. But most of the orders that came in was for takeout or pick up ( delivery ). They're located in a shopping center that generally closes at 9 PM but they stay open till 10. I noticed a larger portion orders the box could not close. Meaning the wing and leg pieces would be over the top and he literally couldn't close the box so he just put it in the bag and tie it off without actually closing the box or using a second box to complete the order. I notice / read a lot of people complained about that ( open wings box ) in the Yelp Reviews, but I was able to watch it firsthand that's the way he operates. The solution is to use as many boxes as necessary to complete the order especially on delivery orders. Stop trying to save money on using boxes. The world is just getting over COVID-19 and safety is paramount. especially in the delivery food business. Now my order is ready and I watched him place it in the bag without closing the box because it can't, it's over full and tie off the top ends of the bag. That's fine because I visually watched him do it but that would not work for delivery service. Now let's get to the texture and taste. The texture was fine deep fried with a nice coating but the flavor is was off. Half of my wings and legs were Soy Garlic flavor and the other half was spicy flavor. The soy garlic was a little bit off but I was able to identify it but my spicy was barely spicy with no flavor. That's not cool, that's not Bonchon. I am not interested on purposely returning to this location. But I do hope they get it together for Bonchon namesake."
"The food was very good, and customer service was great throughout our visit! I highly recommend it to new and repeat customers."
"I love anything curated and has a stamp of approval by Chef Tobias! Love how he got James Hardens Houston spot on the map in Midtown, let's be honest it is his good food that keeps the people coming in. Crab Fries with old bay, he took our DC hits there, and it worked! Well Huncho House was hit and then came 1123, right across the street. For date night, my handsome made reservations, and we went. First impression, decor is beautiful. The waitress told us the back story of the painting of his mother, super beautiful. As we looked at the menu, both my honey and I had a look of disappointment. It was limited. We weren't expecting what was on the menu. We ordered an appetizer and drinks, then tried to bee line to Huncho House with no luck. Sticky Ribs were good-Portion Size was Small and compared to price, it's pricey. Not sure they were $20 good.Overall, I wouldn't come back, 1123 isn't for me, I am not into Asian cuisine and then with an African flare, it's risky and too risky for my taste. If I'm going to spend money, I want to spend it on what I know I love and like. Chef Tobias could have made this a Huncho House 2, and it would have stayed packed.Like I said, I am a fan of Chef Tobias, this one spot is a miss for me. We came, we tried, we conquered, if I come again, it's his doing!"
"WOW!! I haven't been inside Roll Play since 2019! And I regret it! I've been avoiding it only because I'm trying to stay in Keto or Low Carb and of course looking at their amazing Banh Mi and noodles aren't helpful! Lol But I was shocked when I saw that they had a Cauliflower rice option for a while ( I was told that they just canceled it because it wasn't selling well!) And Shirataki low carb noodles! Only 2 NET CARBS!!! YES!!!I made a super Pho! I chose OxOxtail meat, Angus beef slices, lemon grass chicken and Shrimp! In a spicy Oxtail Bone Broth! With white onions, cilantro, scallions, lime and basil! And Sate chili oil !My Coworker got the power bowl and a Vietnamese iced coffee and he said it was pretty good!I love their hours! There is no time in the day that you might need Roll Play and you might find them closed! I love the huge and amazing options on the menu!Customer service was amazing and they nicely answered all my questions and they also fulfilled my order accurately !Finally I'm sipping a Pho that is really made put of bones like the Oxtail pho !! The soup/pho was tasty! Full of Aroma , fatty and delicious ! All the meats were phenomenal ! I really want to thank them for the amazing low carb noodles idea! The store isn't big, seats are limited and the ambiance is casual!Try it, vote for the review , message me, or compliment me with any comment or question, and don't forget to ... "Bonchon is a no nonsense fast casual Korean wings and drumstick restaurant. We ordered a shrimp dumpling starter and the new Yangnyeom wings/drumsticks. The wings were hearty and very easy to eat, but messy. We had to ask for extra napkins. The sauce was the star of the show, the sweet and spicy flavors were prevalent. The drumsticks were much larger than I expected! They almost looked like the ones from the renaissance festival. The skin was perfectly crisp and held the Yangnyeom flavor well. We were disappointed in the shrimp starter, it was six small dumplings with a honey mustard smattered around on the dish. The service was good, the server was attentive. The ambiance was aligned to that of a diner but was perfectly reasonable for the type of food served. There were quite a few tvs with different sports showing."
"My absolute favorite place in Union Market! I generally order their white rice bowl with chicken and toppings (no extra cost). I like that their chicken is very tender and the level of stickiness for the rice is just on point. Toppings include salsa, gochu-pow sauce (a spicy sauce made from fermented Korean gochujang paste, if you don't eat spicy, exclude this from your toppings), lime crema (a sour cream based topping with lime juice, mirin, and agave), sesame seeds, cilantro, and shallots.I have also tried their add-ons before which include cucumber, piko de Gallo (tomatoes with ginger scallion sauce), pickled daiko radish, avocado, and poached egg. Service is quick and friendly. Despite long lines during lunch hours, I can typically get my food in under 10 minutes. On Tuesdays, you can get 3 tacos for a discount price (I think it's around $8-9 if I remember correctly) and they are equally delicious!"
"I came here while my car charged and am glad I did! I am allergic to seafood and am dairy free. This is a great alternative. The sushi was so good! The chai latte was a bit too spicy. It took them a long time to make it but the waitress comped it. I give them a 4 because I was there alone, and it took them a good 20 minutes to come and take my order. Everyone else seemed to be attended to right away. So that was weird. Other than that I will return. The food was just so good."
"When I used to live in China, there was a Uyghur restaurant in my apartment complex that I ate at all the time. This place took me back to that. The restaurant was packed when I ate here. Thankfully, they have 2 floors of seating. For as busy as the restaurant was, they definitely have a system down, because our food came out very quickly. Everything was insanely delicious. If you're in DC, you should definitely try this place."
"We (a group of 8) came here for New Year's Day dinner. There is free underground parking after 4 pm. This restaurant (One of Peter Chang Restaurants) offers tapas tapas-style Chinese menu. The restaurant is modern with nice, simple decor. We were seated in the back of the restaurant which was quiet and gave us some privacy. We ordered these dishes to share:Cucumber Salad (Good)Scallion Bubble Pancake (Good)Pig's Ear in Chili Oil (Very good)Wood ear Mushroom Salad (Very good)Husband and Wife Tripe and Tendon (Very good)Deep fried Eggplant (Good)Chongqing Spicy Chicken (Very good)Farmer's Stir-Fry with Eggs (Very good)Dry-fried Fish (Very good-crispy and tasty)Dan Dan Noodles (Good)Iron Pot Rice (Good fried rice)Spicy Lamb (0k - Too gamey)Braised Pork Belly (Bad - too sweet and too fatty)Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs (Good)Streamed Pork Bun (Good - took a long time)Peking Duck (Good - expensive and small portion)Spicy Whole Branzino (OK - fish was crispy but dry)The service was good and most dishes came out fast except for steamed buns. We were surprised they didn't give us any rice even though we ordered a whole fish, family-style portion which cost $38. Why nickel-and-dime us for the rice? Portions were small so you probably need to order two dishes per person. Overall, it was a good experience. We enjoyed most of the dishes but will not recommend Peking Duck, Lamb, Pork Belly, or Whole Branzino."
"Had a great dinner here. Our server was the sweetest lady ever and she really made our dining experience that much more pleasant. My best friend and I initially came for happy hour. We ordered both the steamed and the fried shumai. Both of them were so good that we ordered another round. We also ordered the salt and pepper calamari, which had just a bit too much salt. It was still good, but we definitely needed a refill of our water glasses by the time we finished it. We also ordered edamame and planned to share a curry chicken katsu. The edamame was steamed perfectly and sprinkled with just a light amount of salt. My best friend loved the chicken katsu but I was not really a fan. Too many flavors going on in the curry, but the katsu lacked seasoning. Instead I ordered a couple of sushi rolls which were all pretty good.I probably would have walked right past this place had my best friend not recommended it. It was definitely a good decision on his part."
"Found them open on Christmas day. The food was amazing!!! Our service was amazing. The ambiance, also amazing!!10 out of 10The staff was on the ball and so very nice. Decorated for Christmas and everything. It was beautiful!!"
"The Sichuan style cooking is delicious and healthy; You can ask for a lesser spicy food if you don't want it hot/ spicy. The hot pot are all fresh ingredients/ all you care to eat. I enjoy the green beans and tofu. Super flavorful. The interiors are tastefully remodeled with tasteful modern setting. Menu is family friendly with exceptional service and staff!"
"Giving this place 4 stars after my second visit only because of their weird "leftover policy" and service.Food and ambiance was great as it was during my previous visit. As for the service, it gave me unpleasant experience. The biggest disappointment for me was the part, when I asked for to go box and waitress asked me "what for".Ummm, for the leftover food and I pointed at the table. I had rice and 3 side dishes left over. The waitress said that I can only take rice and not the side dishes. Then, she asked me if I still want a box.. Honestly, never before I've been in the situation where you cannot take left over food unless it's "all you can eat" restaurants. On top of that, this time as soon as I walked in, the waitress was staring at me for like 60 seconds deciding where I should sit. It was a bit awkward bc I was literally standing in front of her in the middle of the entrance also not knowing what to do. And time goes very slow when you're just standing in one spot. Place was 75% empty, so I don't see the reason that took her so long to decide. Anyway, I was already looking through the menu when she brought the QR code and said "it's the menu, scan it."I was confused but opened it. It took me to their website explaining what's Korean food is. Then, I noticed that next to that QR code it said, "if that's your first time trying Korean cuisine etc, etc." Ngl, It felt off. No one assumed it's my first time trying Korean food when I came there with my friend previously. So, I feel like 4 stars after this experience is way too high, but I really enjoyed my food."
"We really liked our breakfast dim sum at China Boy. Especially their rice noodle crepes, we tried 3 different kinds and they were all delicious with the rice noodle sauce, the BBQ pork, fresh shrimp and fried dough stick crepes. Also their Popcorn chicken was the best we've had, just let them rest for at least 5 minutes, they come out tongue burning hot."

"We used to go to Red Maple regularly. There were some minor irritations but the service and food were good. Then staff changed and along came Covid and we stopped going there. Recently our favorite Chinese restaurant closed and we hadn't been able to find a replacement. Rich suggested we give Red Maple a try again. On a Sunday afternoon it was quiet when we got there. We got a seat in a booth in the bar. It's usually quiet in the bar area and we like to sit in a booth. A waiter came shortly and brought us water and took our drink orders. Rich had a tall beer and I had a Mai Thai. They have delicious Mai Thai complete with an umbrella, orange slice or more recently a slice of star fruit. Our first time back I ordered the salmon tempura with miso soup and Spanish rice. Miso soup can be very bland but their's is very good. The salmon came on a sizzling platter with sliced onions and peppers. Much like a fajita platter, delicious. Rich had Pad Thai and he liked it but it was not my favorite. Our second trip I had the chicken teriyaki and it was very good but I preferred the salmon. And on our third trip I had chicken lo mein. The portion was huge! I ate until I was full and we took the rest home and shared it for dinner. On our second visit Rich had a bento box but decided on our third visit the salmon teriyaki was the way to go. There service was perfect. We had a waiter the first visit and waitresses the second and third. It was nice to have good experiences at Red Maple and it has been added back into our regular rotation of favorite restaurants."
