"Walked in on a Saturday night. This location is a little more lax and not as busy as the DC location. I've been here a few times and normally the food is great. This time they burned the rice and the flavor of the jollof was off. We ordered the goat stew with jollof, plantain, and cabbage as the sides. The goat stew was flavorful a delicious and there was a good amount of meat in the stew so I was very pleased. I will say although the jollof did come out burned the waitress was very kind and accommodating. She brought us a new bowl of jollof and said if it still didn't taste up to par she would bring out a different side. The new bowl was mildly better so we stuck with it to not give her difficult time. The Samosas are a MUST TRY. They also have two delicious sauces that come with the samosa a really yummy pepper sauce and sweet sauce. The parking lot can make it difficult to get a spot. Goat stew 4/5Plantain 4/5Cabbage 3.5/5Jollof 2.5/5 Chai Tea 5/5 Samosa 5/5Overall, I will still continue coming to this establishment. Swahili was the original restaurant that showed Traditional African food meeting class. They food a way to standardize the quality of the food so that a majority of the time no matter which chain you go to the food quality is the same. They also bring the vibes with great drinks and music! The other African restaurants are only now catching up."
"The drinks are the best. I often get their margarita that they serve flamed. I have never tried their food, but again the drinks are always great. And the service is always prompt and attentive. They bartenders always offer suggestions for new items. Lastly, the dimly lighted place plays great Afro beats and is nicely decorated."
Served with side. Spicy. From the coast of East Africa, this is a relish that is used to accompany rice dishes that are not spicy. It is a perfect accompaniment to emerald rice. It is a tomato and onion based relish perfumed with cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, and cumin. A healthy dose of hot chilies is added to give it that much-needed kick.

"Read about this hidden gem on social media and we enjoyed our first sampling of the menu-- shrimp and chicken. Both were delicious!"
"If you want to try some authentic Nigerian, Ghanaian food, this is a great place for it. Since coming back from my African trip, I have been craving fufu and egusi. Finally found the right time and place to try out African food in DC. They have various types of fufu which was awesome. I tried pounded yam and fufu with egusi and oxtail. Either Egusi you can either get the vegetarian option or with any meat. I love meat so I ordered egusi with goat. Goat was nicely cooked and very tender as it should be. Egusi had nice balance of heat and very flavorful with lots of green veggies. Goes so well with fufu. Oxtail was great. It's cooked in their hot tomato sauce. I wish it wasn't as oily as it was. That's the only negative. But I drained the oil and mixed it with the kibbles and gave it to my pup. She loved it. Now she expects something to be mixed with her kibbles every time. Serivice and ambiance were great. Great value for money."
"Well done!Gambian eatery in the Takoma Park & Silver Spring area. (Down the street from WAU) Went on the weekend, evening hours, not too busy. Spacious seating, good for groups / individuals / couples. Parking is available in front of the restaurant (street parking) or the side of the building. Beautiful decor inside. We were seated promptly, our order taken shortly after. The food arrived piping hot. Filling portions and I took my leftovers to-go. Not too pricey, in comparison to similar area restaurants.Check it out."
"Boyfriend and I stopped in to try Ghanaian food for the first time. We ordered the egusi (spinach stew) with beef, jollof with fried fish, and fufu in peanut soup with chicken. It was a bit of a wait for the food because they had to make more fufu (about 30 min) but we had no problem waiting. And boy was it WORTH it. I was a little nervous I wouldn't like the fufu since I'd never had it before but it was SO YUMMY!!!! The peanut soup was flavorful, a bit spicy, and had a richness to it. The egusi was full of tasty vegetables and big chunks of beef. I was torn between if the egusi or the fufu was my favorite. Both were amazing. You can tell the ingredients are fresh, and the food is seasoned expertly. The portions are also really generous.Above all that, the waitress was so so sweet too. Best kind of service (and I don't even prioritize service when I go to restaurants usually)."
"Small, cozy, and community-oriented, this DC joint is cracking and smacking. As my first time having Ghanaian food, I can say the cuisine is authentic-all that spice and everything nice! The portions are generous and the service responsive, especially when a bunch of educators also known as "out-of-towners" come stomping in looking for some DC flava!"
"I've ordered delivery (through doordash) twice from here now and both times the food was great. The items are always packed well. The food is so flavorful and yummy. They give plenty of injera bread too. I've gotten the yawaze tibs, which are delicious. I've also gotten the side of lentil sambusa which is also super flavorful and yummy. My boyfriend has gotten dullet and loved it. He liked it so much that the first time he ordered it he told me to make sure we remember this place so he can keep getting it. You also get a lot of food. I don't know how in person service is, but for delivery my experience has consistently been good. You also get a free can drink with meals, which isn't even stated on doordash, so that was a pleasant surprise."
"I really like this place and the food is quite good. The woman owner is lovely. I first met her more than 20 years ago at their grand opening. I left Virginia for a number of years. Now that I am back and was so near, I stopped in for a Saturday brunch treat. The menu (and there is a QR if you like to order on your phone) is not huge but provides enough choices with many breakfast items and drinks. This is a great place for vegetarians and even has some vegan offerings but also some traditional meat dishes. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.I had the breakfast dish with eggs, Kitcha fitfit, and fu'ul. It was delish and ample. I also had the organic flaxseed drink (smoothie with soy milk base) to go. I asked for it without the honey and it still tasted so good. I saw people next to me eating french toast and it looked fluffy and super delish. The only down side to this place is that there is so little seating and it is lively -you will be sitting close to others and hear a bit of their convos even if you don't want to listen. That shouldn't be a deterrent, though, because the food is worth it and the ambience is still nice and friendly. I would say there is table seating for about 25 people plus an additional 10 barstool seats at the counter.Everyone up in the joint while I was there was probably Eritrean or Ethiopian with a couple of exceptions, including me. I say that in a good way, because it means people are going there because the food is authentic and good. If you are not familiar with Eritrean food, I highly recommend it.This cafe is a bit of fushion, bringing together American and Eritrean fare that has something for everyone (vegetarians, vegans, and carnivores). Besides breakfast/brunch items that are offered all day long (yay!), they offer salads, soup, sandwiches, pasta dishes, pastries, and traditional meals (veggie only or chicken, lamb, fish, or shrimp based dishes). The have a nice drink menu that includes a variety of coffee items, traditional tea with cinnamon and cardamom, and the organic flaxseed smoothie which I recommend.I would give this place 4.5 stars, because it is tiny and can be crowded during peak times. It's too small to have more than one waitress with the owners assisting. I am not criticizing anyone for that -it's just a small business. It's casual with a good ambience, clean, enjoyable, and the waitress/owners are nice. More importantly, the food is very good and it is clear the owners care about healthy and tasty meals. I highly recommend for breakfast, lunch, or a casual dinner... and for take out. Lovely cafe and I wish the owners another 20+ years of business success. Great addition to the neighborhood."
"Passed by this place sooo many times walking through the mall, but I never stopped in... until now! There are a few tables and a big menu outside the restaurant itself, so I took a minute to look at that. I decided to get the porridge yam (Asaro) with chicken and greens. It took about 20 minutes, so I decided to run to the gym and get a quick workout in while waiting. It took another minute or so when I got back, but the staff were very friendly and apologetic for the wait! They showed me the food before putting it in the bag. I got very excited!I got home, started a movie and dug in. The chicken and greens were good, but the Asaro was DEFINITELY the star of the show. So very flavorful and satisfying! My only wish is that there was more of the porridge itself! I could have an entire bowl of that alone!I will definitely be back to Jodeem to try more menu items."
"Coming back to say still really love the food here. My favorite is definitely the curry goat stew (that had now been permanently added to the menu). I also had the prime roast for my Christmas dinner and it was soooo good! Everyone loved it! The customer service is always amazing. Peter, who I normally speak with, is soo accommodating and and all around awesome. Pro Tip: I would call ahead and order ahead so you can grab your food when you get there. Items I would recommend: Capitol Hill Crab Cakes Curry Goat StewChicken Sandwich"
"The food here is amazing. Sweet Sweet Kitchen is a small African/Caribbean restaurant that offers authentic Caribbean & West African food. You will be hooked on your visit. I literally came on a Friday came back on Saturday. My favorite dishes include the Cassava Leaf, this was actually my first time trying this dish. I love the curry chicken and the oxtail is fall off the bone good. I want to try the curry goat and the snapper next but I keep getting the curry chicken. Parking is limited. There are a few tables to enjoy your meal at this location. Prices are big higher then most Caribbean spots, but totally worth it. All the food is halal/kosher."

Really glad I got try this place out! Came here with a small group and none of us have had Kenyan food before, so we were excited to try it out!Restaurant is very nice, appreciate the aesthetic. The music was bit loud, however it was on a Saturday evening when we dined here. The Swahili Basket is a great starter to try a little bit of everything on their appetizer menu. The highlight of the basket was definitely the samosa! Crispy and flaky with very tasty beef inside. For entree, I got the suya and shrimp combo which was absolutely delicious. The best part was the suya! Very flavorful and with a nice smokey hint. The only thing that was so so was the jollof rice, I've had better. I would suggest another side.Service was good and slightly slow, but it didn't take away much away from the food and experience. Also, friendly staff for sure!Definitely encourage others to check this place out for sure!

I love this restaurant! My partner and I came here expecting a normal dinner but instead had closer to dinner and a night out lol! The food was rocking, 10s across the board from me. The music and atmosphere itself were also really good, they played Afro beats and there were people gathering at the bar so the environment was upbeat. Loved the fire drinks they had, we don't even drink like that but we had to try them. Very fun situation. I had the vegan red beans, which were really flavorful and surprisingly filling. My baby had the salmon and she enjoyed it too

It was . . . incredible. In the EGUSI, I've never had goat meat like this - better than any shredded beef could be; and their signature, NKATENKWAN, this "fufu" is wild stuff. All served with great service. We appreciate Joe (not me, Joe at Bukom) and his insight into this new-to-us cuisine.

Good spot! There was a lot of options on the menu, portions were good, prices were alright, and service was a bit slow. Appetizer: Kebab 9/10 (basically Suya) Palm drink (if you know you know) Food: Waakye 7.5/10 Jollof and stew 7.5/10 Kenkey 7.5/10 Spice level was medium nothing crazy. Nice vibes they played good music and have good ambiance. It's not fancy you can come casual. Overall, there's some other West African/Ghanian spots I prefer. But I wouldn't be upset at coming back.

Delicious - the veggie plate feels like 10 pounds. It's family owned and operated so what more could you really want. The man running the shop on that day was so kind and laughed when he gave me the plate - I really didn't expect the plate to have so much weight lolAmbiance is so so - but it feels like a safe haven for anyone who eats a good meal and a quiet moment enjoying Ethiopian solo or with friends or family. I would go back for sure! *will update with picture on my next visit*

"Finally tried this place! I did dinner last night with a big group. This is definitely a popular place so don't bother showing up without a reservation!Parking wasn't terrible on a Saturday evening. I found metered street parking around the corner. Paid via parkmobile. There is a nearby garage and it was only $10. A few in our group parked there. Now I know for next time!I arrived a bit earlier than the reservation so I hung out at the bar. It was buzzing! Since it was "National Margarita Day" I decided to try their Cape Town Margarita - tasty but not strong. Service at the bar was good. Since they were packed, they give a time limit once seated - 2 hours! They didn't stick to it since some of the food took awhile to come out. We stayed close to the 3 hour mark! So regarding the dress code, online it says upscale. Some were certainly going for that depending on the occasion being celebratedMost seemed to be date night cute or smart casual. I wouldn't recommend showing up in sweats!Kudos to our amazing server, Denham. Thank you so much for bearing with us and taking our pictures and just being awesome in general. Please give him a raise! Next time I'm here, I'm requesting him to be my server! Now onto the food. I tried the grilled chicken with a side of jollof. The chicken wasn't bad as far as taste. When I saw it, I was thinking it didn't look appetizing but I gave it a try - it was well seasoned and was flavorful. The jollof was a bit spicy but I didn't mind the spice. Comes with a spicy sauce on the side. Overall a great experience here! From the hostesses, bar staff, Denham and manager, Chaz. Thank you all for a great evening!I'll be back soon!"
"Moi Moi is a great restaurant. If you love West African, Caribbean, and American food, this place is for you. I went this summer and made it in again. I hosted a large group brunch a week ago. I coordinated it with the manager a week prior to the event. The manager wasn't there, but When we arrived, our table was plated and the reception was very warm. For my drink I had a Mandingo ! It was strong. For brunch, I ordered the coconut French toast which was delicious!!!! I highly recommend. The servers and the Sunday manager were excellent and as our group grew, they made amazing accommodations. I met one of the beautiful bartenders who is from Boston (which I am ) so it made the experience even more homey ! I also tried the suyA which was delicious and the jerk chicken. During the dining experience, the chef came out and I was able to introduce myself and tell him how good his food is !! Everything was seasoned perfectly. This family run restaurant is a different place for date night, mixers, corporate meetings or girl nights."
"This is a review after my second time having food from this establishment. The first time, I was like this is soooo good. It was a soft taco. It's their own version of a taco with rice, chicken or beef, cheese and vegetables. I love veggies, so I was disappointed the second time I ordered when more rice and less vegetables greeted my tongue. I knew something was missing. Took a look and saw few green or yellow (onions). Now, the pizza was just as DELICIOUS as the first time I had it. The sautéed greens were a bit pricey but very tasty. Yes, I highly recommend and will go again."
"This was our first visit to this restaurant; however, they have been around for 20 years. We didn't know what to order, so the gentleman was very helpful. In our usual first-time visit style, we over ordered to get a good variety. We ordered several starters: Bofrot (donut) - too heavy for me.Beef patty - definitely one of the best beef patties. Plenty of beef.Chicken patty - very tastyBeef Suya khebab - a definite yes! I can't describe the spices, but it's good.Fufu Chicken Stew - I liked the Chicken Stew but not so much the fufu. It's the texture thing. Lol.Jerk Chicken with Jollof rice - a definite yes.Waakye (rice and beans)- deliciousPlantain - solidOverall, a great experience. Friendly staff. Great food."
"I've tried the curry goat, escovitch and fricassee chicken. All have been amazing, food Is fresh and employees are friendly. I like the touch of care they provide by letting me see the food prior to putting in the Togo bag."
"Really bad I'm a big fan of jollof rice as well as goat meat. This place is a little bit confusing because they have a takeout area which seems to be very popular and I can understand why to some extent as well as a sit down venue which is near the barbershop. I chose to do the sit down place after standing around in the takeout place. In the sit-down place I got the jollof rice with plantains and goat meat. Let me start out by saying that I've had excellent jollof rice and this definitely was not it I'm not sure what the flavor profile they put into it but it definitely had a odd chemical butane kind of odor I didn't dig it. The rice was cooked well but the flavor was just awful. It was not spicy at all It's definitely not even close to the jollof rice I've had at some of the Nigerian parties I've attended. The goat meat was god-awful. I really like good goat meat but they gave very very small pieces of go full of fat and bones, the Yelp reviews were spot on with this. On top of the the meat itself was cooked horribly more like a combination of fibrous chewing gum. I have never had goat meat this bad in my life. And it hurts to waste food but I ate as much of it as I could. The one redeeming quality was that there was a pretty good piece of bone marrow that I got out of it. The plantings were the best part of it and one piece was not thoroughly cooked. Lot of the other reviewers have commented on the service. Yes definitely there is a lot of problems and issues here. For one they don't honor the Yelp check-in. Not just that but the attitude was extremely terrible. The woman who sat me down literally through the menu on the table. Nobody brought water They attempted to put utensils directly onto the table and there is no place setting. Any kind of decorum that you expect at a typical restaurant it ain't happening here. I'm not sure who this will cater to but I don't even think the immigrant class will tolerate this which is probably why they flock to the takeout area. That being said the one girl who I encountered at the takeout area was extremely nice and showed me where the sit down area was. Parking is free and in a parking lot. The price is really bad for the value of the food. ambience in the restaurant is really irritating. Maybe if you like this kind of music it is loud and boisterous and from some of the other diners who I observed nobody was listening to it but we're trying to talk all over it. And at sometimes the stereo blasted it even louder. Overall I'm glad I tried it but if I want my African fix I know other places that deliver much better quality."
"Pre-Pandemic Experience: The first time I stumbled upon this restaurant it was pre pandemic. I saw the owners were from Ghana like myself so I decided to check them out. I ordered the jollof rice with stew, chicken, plantain, puff puff and the ginger drink. I was thoroughly impressed. Ghana Jollof Rice is the best, I just thought I'd add that plug in for those who don't know. I had to put some of my friends on to The Hunger Tamer. So when I'm feeling too lazy to cook my own jollof rice, this is a nice substitute. During Pandemic: I went the other day and the rice was ok. I didn't get the same vibes I had pre pandemic but after putting it in the microwave, it was better. I would still recommend them."
"We're always on the lookout for new food to try and Lapaz African Cuisine fit the bill since we've never had Ghanaian food before. From the pictures and descriptions, the food here looked too good to pass up. We stopped by for weekday lunch and got:Fried Yam w/ Tsofi ($12.99) - This came with 6 or 7 pieces of perfectly fried African yam, 3 pieces of turkey tail, and some shito/tomato? to dip things in. Both the crisp and fluffiness of the yam were amazing - I actually thought this was better than french fries from most restaurants. The turkey tail was also fried perfectly, with a crisp outer layer and fatty/cartilaginous meat that tasted super turkey-like. It is the literal opposite of the dry, bland Thanksgiving turkey one is used to, or the sliced turkey lunchmeats found in sad deli sandwiches. In fact, we did some research and found that you cannot find the turkey tail on the prepackaged, mass-produced turkeys sold in the US. It's removed during processing and sold separately. (I have never seen this cut sold though, so it must be at specialty stores/butchers.) The side soup/dip was pretty spicy to me and had an interesting taste that I can't really describe. Fishy, spicy, and earthy? I haven't had anything like it before, but it was very good and complemented the fried yam.Jollof Rice w/ Fried Chicken ($14.99) - Came with the rice, a small side salad, 2 drumsticks and a thigh. This jollof rice was amazing, like a perfectly cooked Mexican rice but with mild heat and different spices. The side salad came with a mayo/vinegar dressing, and otherwise looked like a standard garden salad. The chicken, once again, was fried perfectly. No breading, but the skin gave it that extra crisp while the fat underneath was rendered out, and the chicken remained extremely juicy on the inside. This also came with a small cup of shito. I have no idea why this place isn't more popular - in the entire hour-ish we were there, there were only two takeout orders being picked up. Everything we had was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the portion sizes were generous. The dishes on the menu are very memorable. I would definitely come back time and time again if I lived closer to Lapaz!"
"There are many reasons to visit Hedzole- the food, the drinks, the atmosphere, the owner's story, the neighborhood. Stopping in for plantains on a Saturday afternoon, here's my experience.1) Food: Serving Ghanaian American food, the main concept is building your own bowls using foods like coconut rive, jollof rice, plantains, and more. They have plant-based options. Or you can order one of their bowls- salmon or stewed oxtail. They sell sides like cabbage, plantains, "red red," and groundnut soup with fufu. 2) Drinks: They sell bottled water, soda, and a hibiscus-based drink. 3) Service: When I walked in, the owner was there serving the food herself. Leaving a career in corporate America, she started with pop-ups, farmer markets, and a residency before opening this spot in April 2023. She's kind and happy to walk you through the menu.4) Space: It's small, but cozy. There are several tables in a brightly-decorated space on the bottom floor of a 1935 brick apartment building.5) Area: It's along a commercial area in Sixteenth Street Heights. Moreland's Tavern, a local bar, is across the street. Rock Creek Park is within walking distance. There's free street parking close."
"We went here for dinner to explore new cuisine. The interior is ok, not maintained well. The table clothes seemed dirty and some signs of unsanitary practices but we still decided to give it a try since we were already inside and most of the restaurant closed at this point. The wait was very long (roughly 40m) for carry out. We ordered goat soup with fufu and chicken jollof rice. It was my first time trying fufu/soup and I would give it a 7/10. The jollof rice was good but the chicken legs didn't taste fresh. It had the taste of very old frozen chicken that's been cooked. However, the staff were friendly and attentive to our question."
"I wish I could've recorded the interaction between me & whom I assumed was the owner when I walked into this establishment. He was sitting in a chair, very relaxed so when I walked in I was waiting him to greet me, ask me what I wanted to order...but I got a WHAT! OK, so I said I would like to order a jerk chicken sandwich & champagne cola. My total was $9.54. I gave him a $20 (mind you this was just like within seconds) he turned to me & says what did you give me...a $20...my food was ready in seconds, OK you gain points for that, but you lose points for my sandwich being slightly hot (temperature) especially when I was dining in. Overall the sandwich was OK. My bestii came & got a small cassava leaf stew with rice and she let me taste it...it was actually pretty tasty but I've never had it anywhere else so I don't have a frame of reference.Don't take my word...try it for yourself"
"To begin, I heard many good things about this place as a lounge and decided to stop in for dinner (we are a family with young children). We went to Golf Ultra Lounge for dinner prior to COVID, so this review is for dine-in service before lounge hours. The only place to sit and eat besides the bar are the booths. We needed to wipe the area prior to settling in. The tables are on the smaller side, so it made eating a little difficult because of how far you needed to reach for your meal and the limited space to spread the dishes (Full disclosure, a child was present). The food was good. We ordered the double portion of Beef Suya, Egusi soup w/ fufu, and Jollof. I usually ask how the dishes are prepared because of the different styles. The waitress had to check in with the chef because apparently the preparation differs depending on who is cooking that day. She also spent most of the time at the bar with the two other customers, so our service wasn't as fast (considering the lounge was near empty). The portions were large and filling. The drinks were canned sodas, rather than drinks on tap. Lowered 2 stars because of cleanliness and customer service."
"There's something nostalgic for me about being at Rahama that takes me back to Ghana.Perhaps it's the service that feels like a welcome home from that one aunt or uncle that you just know us going to have something to say or maybe it's the smell of ginger and spices that greet you the moment you approach the door. What is undeniable is this: you wont find Ghanaian food at this quality and taste anywhere else in the DMV. Theres so much range in the food offerings that it would be a disservice to come here and just order jollof. Try something served with soup, try the juices, go for the waakye and i promise you wont be disappointed."
"I was here on a Friday afternoon for drinks. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It had a local feel to it where everyone seemed to know each other. Their beer selection was small but they had great mix drink specials. There are two pool tables there but get a group of friends on one for a fun night. Disclaimer: it could get a little rowdy but it's fun!#YelpMDburbs"
"The best suya, the best hookah and the best bottle girls! Like seriously I use to come here as a customer now I work here and I love it. The owners Nj and Val are great and their main goal is to make sure everyone gets the best experience of the nightlife in the DMV. Everything is newly renovated so it gives off luxurious with Afro beats playing all night it's giving nollywood. Definitely come and visit us we gets lit for sure!"
"Food was nicely presented. I only got side dishes to add to what I was preparing at home.Mr. Sunday was in the shop alone and went the back to prepare my order. It was ready in less than 10 minutes. The TV was on low so the ambience was quiet and pleasant while I waited."
"It was our first time having Ghanaian food, very interesting taste. Everything was made spicy!! so if you're sensitive to spicy food, this would not be the place. We decided to dine in, you order your food at the counter and take a seat. We ordered a few items to share and also their dessert in a cup which i didn't get a name.#5 - Fufuo & Chicken Soup#9 - Awaakye & Fish and Meat#12 - Atseke#17 - Fried chicken with fried rice#22 - Spicy Khebob#5 - I would have imagined that this dish would come with something else, like rice? but nope, you eat it with your hands. The center blob is like mashed potatoes but thicker, and chicken is chicken. Kinda tastes like curry had made love to tom yum soup. They also give you a side of water in a big bowl so you can wash your fingers. #9 - This was the most random dish that we ordered, lol spaghetti noodles on the side with some weird orange thing, the beef that was in there was very tender and shredded like pot roast meat. There was also a small piece of fried fish in the mix but because of the sauce that they covered it with, it was soggy. There was also an egg and #12 - Fried fish but it came out kinda soggy but it was delrishes. This was also served with cassavas. #17 - Fried rice with fried chicken, the fried rice tasted like any bland Chinese fried rice, it was very bland and no flavoring.#22 - The kabobs were really tender and flavorful. It's a must try.The dessert in a cup was very sour, it has milk and sour cream as one of its ingredients, I forget what the rest were but this was no where near being sweet. This place seems to be more of a carry out joint than dine in, overall it was ok, it's an experience."
"I have been to Kitchen Near You many times n a decade and it never disappoints! I love the music and ambience of the restaurant. I come here to eat their Soya and Jellof rice only. And I always dine in. I will one day try their fish. The food is freshly cooked. I love the soya meat. Great flavor never dry to me. It comes with raw white onion which is awesome. I love the powder spice that it comes with. I always ask for extra powder because it's so Spicy. The jellof rice is good in flavor and taste."
"Spacious venueDecent bartendersVarious events hosted throughout the weekDrink and menu item specials dailyOutdoor tent for hookah and cigar smoking Numerous tvs to watch the gamesAttended a Bella Dona show here on a Saturday night. Bought my ticket on Eventbrite however you could pay at the door for slight higher price. Security tossed my purse like a jail cell being raided. You couldn't go back out after entering even though you've paid and have a wristband which made no sense whatsoever. Food is decent for bar food although they say restaurant it's not restaurant quality in my opinion. I'll attend other events at this location"
"The Cassava Leaf Soup was . The Chef poured a generous amount on top of my chicken and Jollof Rice. They definitely give you a good portion for your money.De Ranch has 3 different areas. One is the dining room. The dining room gives you an antic afri-cuisine feel when you enter. The lounge gives you reggae vibes. The main area is where you order your food. The main area is also a bar with a heavy selection of alcoholic beverages. If you want African, Caribbean or American food. De Ranch can service you!"
"This place is so much different than any other restaurant I have been in. We tried this place out because of the five stars reviews on Google and Yelp. When we walked in, they sat us at a table, then the owner, TJ, came to us and asked, "what do you want here?". It was a really weird question to ask customers. We were like "food!". Then he was, "do you know what you want?". We were not sure what we wanted because it was our first time there, and he did not even give us a menu yet but asked us what we wanted. It was a bit weird. We told him that it was our first time here and we wanted to try to food out. He finally gave us the menu. The menu was a one-page paper. He asked us if we wanted to try the food out, he will provide us with something different from the menu. We asked for chicken, fish, and meat as our main dishes. With the drink, they gave us a punch that tastes good and very gingerly. He also asked us if we wanted anything while waiting for the main dishes. He told us to try their kabob. The kabob tastes like beef jerky with a spicy powder and onion pickles on top. We are all like the kabob.I personally like the fish the best among the main dishes. The fish dish has plantains, I like the plantains, but my friends do not like the plantains. The chicken was okay, and the meat was assorted, so it tastes a bit weird to me, but one of my friends likes the meat. The price was pricy there. It was more expensive than we expected. And because what he gave us was not on the menu, we have no idea if the price was right. He told us he gave us a bit of everything to try out. Customer service was a bit weird when they asked you want do you want here but did not give you any menu. Lol. This place is fun to try once, but I don't think we will come back again."
"It is extremely hard to find good African food. There are definitely more places opening, but Flora's is top notch! Her food is consistently good. She has become a household name in my family. If we want really good food and don't want to cook, we head here. Everything we have had has been just like eating at your auntie's house. The Eru - very good, the Ndole - very good, the Egusi - very good, the meat pies - very good, one is big enough for too. Not only is the food really good but the customer service is also very pleasant. Please understand, I'm not just saying the food is good, we've had food from here twice in the last week. I will continue to support and send others there. Try them for yourself and let me know what you think."
"Black Diamond....First let me start with....Stop, I repeat STOP requesting $20 deposits....immediately! For what!? Because we paid the $20 deposit last Sunday 7/14 and arrived on time for our 12:00PM reservation just to be seated in silence while waiting 15 minutes just for drink order and did not receive our food until 1:05PM. Sooo y'all pressing for $20 just to have your customers wait a hour for service not making sense to me. This establishment needs a bit of work because holding customers accountable to show up for their reservation when your staff need to be held accountable to make it to work on time to prepare the food for your paying customers. Their chef did not walk in UNTIL 12:45PM. Secondly, it's literally a shame this establishment is ran so poorly because food is, BOMB....minus them waffles. We did not walk out because we were personally aiming to ONLY support small Black Businesses that weekend but how can people support if you lacking on staff, service and manager even being present to run spot....But shout out to Renee for having to serve the only three tables of people solo, and shout out to the people at those other two tables also for having to sit around even longer than our hour wait for their food. Sooo, it's a pass for me right now for visiting again....that $55 Diamond Platter does not out weight the lack of customer service for me."
