I love this shop! Today was my first time and the guys made me feel like a regular. It might seem weird to go from VA to a butcher shop in MD for wine but they are the only ones semi local I could find this Spanish Cava that I love and have only been able to find in DC. It gets weirder, while was there I looked around and found something else that I haven't been able to find, fish stock. Not just any fish stock, fish stock without out anything added. I've been looking for a while for my daughter's pup who has kidney issues and this is supposed to be very helpful. When I read the label it said aromatics so I asked the friendliest guy if he knew if they added onions and why I needed to know. He didn't shrug his shoulders and say I don't know...he dashed next store to ask the chef!!!! Came back and assured me it was just fish bones...I did get some huge meatballs too, pack of six which will be six yummy dinners for me. Their butcher case looked amazing and I will drive back for that and another bottle of Cava.Sorry for a long review, it's so unusual to have such incredible customer service anywhere I wanted to scream it out in the inter nets!

We were disappointed when Kensington Market closed but were curious to see what one of their "sister" stores in Bethesda carried. We found a metered parking spot on the street about a block from the shop. When we entered Butchers Alley we walked down a short hallway and to the front of us was the meat and grocery area. To the right was a case full of a variety of cheeses, wines, and a few local beers. We started in the cheese section and were enthusiastically greeted by Nico (sp?) who introduced himself and offered that if we had any questions he was there to help. We selected a block of Chesapeake Bay cheddar, one of our favorite cheeses to put out for our guests. We moved on to the meat and grocery side. Our freezer is full and we didn't need meat, though we noted the whole chickens and the boneless chicken breasts for a future visit. We picked up pitted green olives, a jar of Dijon mustard and some made-in-house turkey burgers. We heard the gentleman checking out ahead of us commenting that he also used to go to Kensington Market and had been curious about Butchers Alley. We were a little disappointed not to see any of the Kensington employees working as they were always so nice but our cashier was pleasant and and, of course, there was the very cheerful Nico.

Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon for to go sandwiches. The space feels authentic and not pretentious (especially for a place in Bethesda that sells premium cuts of meat.) The service was impeccable! A kind gentleman made our sandwiches fast and with great care, nice and toasty and packaged well. We got the Lala land and Mr James. Both were amply filled with quality meats and fixings. We liked the Mr James better but I think it could have used more horseradish. The Lala land was missing something - either spicy like a crushed red pepper or sour like pickle. We also grabbed a bag of everything flavored pretzel chips. Will say that the food doesn't photograph well but it so good!

Do you miss real chorizo or jamón from Spain?Lots of fancy Spanish-style foods to be found.Parking is the only concern - it is Bethesda, you know!Remember that, just across the street, is the second side with Spanish style, seafood, and other gourmet ingredients and ready-made foods. Pescadeli! Are you looking for saffron? They have it!

Excellent butcher shop! Thanks for being open now. They also have poultry. Recently bought some chicken thighs that were so much meatier than what you get in a grocery store. Butchers are friendly and know what they're doing. Very safe small shop that has so much more than just meats and poultry. Good selection of cheeses & other goodies.

Horrible customer service experience. Didn't want to cut the pork belly to order. The man behind the counter said he outright refuses to. Then spent 10 minutes trying to find out where to check out. Staff that works here walked passed me and socialized and everything and completely 100% ignored me. I will never buy from here again.

An exceptional addition to the Bethesda landscape. They carry a number of difficult to find Spanish charcuterie items. Earlier there used to only be Pescadeli, and they carried a number of interesting seafood items, but they also had a small selection of jamon, chorizo, and cheese. Now the owners have opened up Butchers Alley across the street and this store focuses on meats and cheeses, the meats are both raw and cured. There is an excellent selection of cuts at the butchers counter including hard to find cuts such as hanger steak (all at reasonable prices). But in my mind, where this establishment really shines is with the cured meats and cheese. They have a good selection of jamons (serrano and iberico), chorizos (including iberico [again!]) and other charcuterie (like lomo) that you would be hard pressed to find anywhere. The cheese selection is also very well curated, and they include many of my favorites including La Tur and offerings from Fromager d'Affinois (they make the best Brie IMO).Regarding the personnel, everyone is very nice but I would like to call out one particular individual, Tali. He really knows a lot about the different products that they carry and is always extremely friendly and ready to impart useful information. I highly recommend this store to anyone that likes cured meat and good cheese. I always go back here every time I visit Bethesda and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Our first experience at Butchers Alley was so incredible, we were back the next day (and every weekend since). The staff are so helpful and willing to take the time to answer all our questions (shout out to Steve at the deli counter and Darjling at the meat counter). Product/food quality is amazing.
