Enjoyed a wonderful brunch in a Saturday morning with my wife. They were busy but not jam-packed.The food was very good and came out relatively quickly. Service was good and ambiance was enjoyable.Be aware that a 20% service fee is added to all checks, but this is not a tip.

We went to Brasserie Liberté last night after going somewhere else so we weren't looking for full meals. The restaurant itself is very large and warm but no natural light, staff was extremely friendly as well. The food we decent, I gnocchi was the star, it was so warm and pillowy soft but I wish you got more. The fries were also amazing, they do a salt and pepper seasoning combo which I love. Finally the French onion soup, honestly it wasn't the best but it was fine. Way too much cheese, it was completely overwhelming and the broth was very deep and rich but a little salty. Overall it was fine, however for 2 soups, gnocchi and fries it was $75. I may go back but it wouldn't be my first choice.

I had dinner at Brassier Liberte with 4 friends last night. The food was 'good' but not outstanding. But I had issues with the service. My first complaint was with the sommelier. I asked him about 3 wines. I told him that I was looking for a "Big Bold Red" under $100/bottle. I had identified a Syrah, a Zinfandel and a Cab. He asked if I would prefer a wine that was complex or simply fruit forward and bold. I told him that I was looking for something that was fruit forward and bold. He returned with a French Burgundy which was not on the menu and is made from Pinot Noir A Pinotis a complex wine and not particularly bold. He justified it because it "was his last bottle." I rejected that and he returned with a Bordeaux that we accepted. I didn't love it, but it was acceptable. But it was not "fruit forward and bold." We ordered a second bottle and I ordered the Cab that I had initially suggested. To my taste, it was better and about 2/3rd of the price of the Bordeaux that he suggested. Tastes are subjective and I can not fault him for the choice of the Bordeaux, but the Burgundy was inconsistent with my requests. But my disappointment came when I got the bill and I was charged for THREE (3) bottles of wine, not the two (2) that we ordered and received. When I pointed this out to the manager, he apologized and initially offered to refund the price of the extra bottle of wine, but NOT the mandatory service charge or the tax on the bottle that we neither ordered or received. He said that the card was already charged so all he could do was refund the extra charge for the wine and not the 33% associated with the service charge and tax! This is dishonest at best. In my opinion, he should have apologized (which he did) + refund the ultimate costs of the erroneously charged item (which he only did after I pressured him) AND he should have said, 'please come back and I'll give you a free drink/dessert/etc. to give us another opportunity to make things right.'Instead, I had to fight to get the restaurant to refund the overcharge and although they did apologize, they did not offer anything which demonstrates that they were legitimately remorseful for their error. Offering a free dessert or cocktail for a future visit is a small gesture and was the least that they could offer for their error. The initial offer, to refund the cost of the erroneously charged item, WITHOUT the associated service charge/tax, is an insult and was unjustified. The food was not so great that I would return to a restaurant that does not value its customers enough to acknowledge an unequivocal error on their part.

We visited Brassier Liberté for Restaurant Week and had the three-course meal, which was an excellent deal for the quality of food and service.I had the Coq au Vin, which was absolutely delicious--the chicken was tender, and the flavors were rich. I just wished the sauce had been a bit more savory to balance the dish perfectly. The Caesar salad was standard but well-executed, and the raspberry sorbet was a refreshing and delightful way to end the meal. The service is something to note because everyone was going over and beyond to ensure we were having a pleasant meal. Wait times were perfect, which made the experience even better. The drinks were fantastic, well-crafted, and paired beautifully with our meal.Overall, Brassier Liberté is a must-visit for anyone looking for quality French cuisine in a stylish yet cozy setting. I'll definitely be back!

I went here for restaurant week with my best friend and let me tell you: this is a fantastic deal! If you want to go somewhere for restaurant week and get more for your buck then you need to check out Brasserie Liberte. For $40 we got an appetizer, entree and dessert. I ordered the onion soup (which is one of my favorites here) and the steak frites and cheesecake.I've been here quite a few times before so I can confirm that the food is not just better because of the deal, but it's good on any day! The fries were also absolutely delicious and the cheesecake was light but still decadent. They also have a good deal on house wine too! $8 for a glass and $30 for a bottle! If you want a good deal, definitely check their restaurant week out. And if you want a good meal, come at any time! The service was quick and attentive (once we finished a course, the next came within a minute). And the vibes are romantic and moody. I loved how homey yet chic it felt.

Such a cute and lively place for a date night or girls night out. We went during restaurant week and while the service started out lacking, the manager quickly rectified this and made sure we were taken care of. I was shocked at the large portion (moules frites), especially for being restaurant week. Martini was solid and they did not hold back! Will go back :)

Nice American French place. I got the Coq Au Vin which is chicken with mashed potatoes, carrots and onions. It was surprisingly good. All dark meat chicken. There were some pieces I ate that I did not enjoy like cartilage etc because I couldn't see them covered in the sauce. Overall it was cooked well as the chicken was coming off the bone. Service was ok. FYI- They charge 20% gratuity to all orders. Ambiance is relaxed but very loud on a Saturday night.

We tried this spot during restaurant week and it did not disappoint. I had been there for brunch before but this time we tried some of their lunch options. I started with the french onion soup, which tasted great even though I am not the biggest french onion soup fan. I got the fettucine bolognese for the main course which was a large portion and was very yummy. I had the flan for desert which lacked a little flavor but still super good. The waiter was very quick to take our order and the service was outstanding!I really loved the vibe too because it made me feel like I was at a little french cafe in the middle of DC.

Well how do I start this review :( First the waiters are wonderful can't say the same for the management. Please be aware before paying your bill that they add 20% fee ( not gratuity ) to the check and I found out it goes to the restaurant not the staff. Also when I declined to pay it as I wasn't made aware of their practices before ordering the food I was met with a condescending ( you aren't from here. Well no sir I'm not and I'm leaving gratuity for the waiter not to subsidize your increase in salary and medical insurance for your employees . It's a rip off and I resent the fact that they didn't disclose anything and I would have added another 20% if I hadn't looked. I can't even imagine how many people are paying 40% without knowing. So no I would never go back there because of the attitude of management .

Great menu options, decent cocktails, and friendly service! Plus the space itself is trendy and cute. I think the moules frites are some of the best in DC and I love the shrimp au gratin. The potato and turnip Mille feuille was so unique and a great vegetarian option. 4.5 overall!
