Bad just bad. High cost low quality and small quantity. If this is what you're looking for go right ahead.

Three and a quarter stars. Sadly tapped out of beef and spring rolls (and tofu) by the person in front of me at 1:30, and they ran out of bread shortly after my order. Their iced coffee and pulled pork are lower on my priority list of next-to-try than 18 hour beef and five spice chicken. I appreciate that they offer salads and noodle or grain bowls as alternative vessels. The wait in line is longer than the wait for food, and service is polite. Stickers are less accurate in label than used for functionally sealing the paper. Protein amount is significantly lower than one might expect, and overall I would've liked a more balanced ingredient ratio, but the BonMi chicken white meat was surprisingly moist. Liberally applied spicy mayo hid any flaws in the crusty baguette, and the sliced jalapenos bumped it up to my preferred minimum heat levels. The other toppings also followed traditional flavor profiles. Naturally, value deflates in comparison to Eden Center.

1. Food trucks suck because they create a false demand by pretending to offer goods for a limited time. 2. BonMI is 100% horrible in that they offer very little food for the price you pay. With lower operating costs, their Bahnmi sandwiches should cost more like $3-3.50. They don't and therefore you pay $10-12 for nothing more than a snack. Shame on this place. May they close down soon and permanently!!

Got to try BonMi at Truckeroo. I was in the mood for something Asian and the line at TaKorean was wayyy too long for my grumbling stomach so I decided to give BonMi a try. Two ladies manning the truck were nice and polite. Unfortunately they were out of pork belly, my first choice so I settled for a beef banh mi sandwich which they were able to whip up in a jiffy. Sandwich was 'meh-Ok. Beef a bit bland, bread was spongey texture and vegetables were decent but not the freshest. I tried adding sriracha to the sandwich hoping it would help take it to the next level but it felt like I was eating a sriracha sandwich and didn't enjoy it as much to finish it. I'd stick with Banh mi from Eden Center for better value and authenticity or banh mi from Pho on Wheels- they season their bread with garlic and butter which gives it a nice twist and jam pack it with meat and fresh toppings. Maybe there was a reason BonMi did not have a line as long as the other trucks aka did not have a line at all at the crowded Truckeroo but I was left feeling 'meh"

I should have checked the reviews before I decided to eat here today. I was intrigued by the cold vermicelli noodle dish as I've had it many times before at Vietnamese restaurants and decided to get it with lemongrass chicken. At $9, it was about what I expected for food truck pricing, but I was really disappointed.First, the service is not that good. The guy taking the orders seemed like he didn't know the menu that well (or at all) and had to repeat my order back to me 3 times to check if he had it right. They were also sold out of just about every speciality drink and only had soda left - it was only noon. When we finally got my order settled, it only took about 60 seconds for my food to be ready. This should have been a red flag. The guy then decided to crane his neck out of the truck and kept shouting "lemongrass" because I guess he thought someone else had ordered it. I eventually caught on that my food was already done and asked him if it was mine. He gave me a confused look and handed the bowl over. Ok then... Upon first glance, the bowl looked good. Tons of veggies, decent portion of lemongrass chicken and noodles. However, the smell was so pungent and my noodles were drenched in way too much sauce. The lemongrass chicken wasn't bad but it was all clumped together to one side of my bowl. The noodles were overcooked and too soggy. I ended up throwing most of my bowl out. What a waste of money and a Foodtruck Friday.

I got the pulled pork sammy and it didn't blow me away. Don't get me wrong, this is a respectable bahn mi! I don't want to taint the efforts of the very friendly and speedy staff, but they need to step it up in the meat and bread arena if they want to be more memorable!THE GOOD: awesome sauces, great service, BIG portion!THE BAD: pork was a little dry! I think pork belly would have been better. I wish I'd have gotten the tofu! The bread was toasted, which is awesome, but it was not the best quality bread on earth...THE BOTTOM LINE: Not excellent, not bad, just a good sammy!

I see a lot of complaints about the bread in the reviews below -- I thought it was fine, but its contents were disappointing. The tofu was really, really bland, which of course is tofu's natural state, but my favorite banh mi places (such as Sprig and Sprout on Wisconsin Avenue) do a great job of disguising it. Even with the "spicy" mayo (which was actually fairly weak) it had very little flavor. Also, they were out of several things on the menu by 12:45 PM, including the burnt sugar lemonade, which sounded cool.

Mmm BonMi can make a pretty decent bahn mi sandwich in my opinion. One would hope so since their food truck is named BonMi....I'm just saying. But they do so it's all good. I had one of their vegetarian options: tofu with spices, plus their slaw and spicy sirracha mayo, in between 2 pieces of crusty delicious bread. Service was great, the staff inside were friendly and efficient. Decent sized portions too. Price for a sandwich, $8.00. Not bad.

So this is the food truck of the BonMi restaurant.I would probably give 3.5 stars, but you can't. Disclaimer: I've never had a bahn mi sandwich before but always see them on food network. I was excited to see their food truck was going to be by my job.I looked at their menu online and had my heart set on the cabbage/noodle salad with peanut sauce, and the chicken five spice bonmi on lettuce. I really don't care for bread on sandwiches. So up I mosey and the poor guy is there all alone. I order and he tells me they don't have the noodles on the truck, they don't have the lettuce wraps on the truck, and they were out of eggrolls!SO SAD!I opted for the five spice chicken on the baguette and i wasn't disapointed. I got sricha, i love things spicey. The chicken had a really good flavor and texture. The pickled veggies were good, nothing too special. I enjoyed their mayo.I would definitely go back here. I wish they'd get the lettuce wraps for the truck and have more things stocked. I had to ask for the sricha bc they were even out of togo cups for it, so they had it hiding in the back.I'll try them again on a better day.

I am hoping the restaurant serves up a better experience than this place did - especially for the name's sake. The men in the truck were a pleasure. The garlic chicken BonMi was just alright. The bread was not as fresh as I would have liked - and then it overwhelmed the ingredients just a bit. At their price point i would expect more filling. The flavors were expected but not anything spectacular. When by the Farragut Food Truck frenzy again ... I will pray hard the Mac and Cheese truck is there.
