As a connoisseur of fine dining, I arrived at BDC with few expectations.I ordered the escargots as an appetizer, and the moules marinières for main course. I was expecting okay. Surprise: The escargots were excellent -- buttery, garlicky, and among the best that I've ever tasted. Then came the final assault: moules marinières. Incredible. In my fifty years of dining in New York's finest French restaurants, NOTHING compared to this mussel dish: all fresh ingredients, more than THREE DOZEN fresh Maine mussels, a hearty, fresh crustacean stock, and a very experienced hand with bouillabaisse and French provincial cooking. It was, hands down, the BEST seafood dish I have had, perhaps in a lifetime. Five stars would not do it justice. If you want true, authentic traditional French fare, Bistrot de Coin is your final stop. Brilliant work, ladies and gentlemen!

This spot was highly recommended to me by some of my favorite foodie friends. I can't even begin to describe the vibe of this place, but all you need to know is the food is good. Its decor is a bit tacky and loud in a very charming way that somehow works. It's an unassuming French spot with lots of seating and a long moules menu. The people who work here are down to earth and kind. I ordered a glass of beaujolais and the classique marinieres mussels. The mussels were very tasty and I loved the broth it came in. I used the delicious bread they had to soak up all the goodness when I was done devouring my mussels. My fiancé adored his Peking duck confit special and also devoured his plate. We had a great time at this restaurant.

Perfect for homey, rustic feeling french food! I came here for dinner on NYE and would definitely come back. Firstly, I loved that you could choose between their NYE dinner menu or their regular menu for dinner as many other restaurants of that caliber had just set menus that evening. The service was excellent and although it was busy, we never felt like we waited too long. We got the escargot, coq au vin, and the mussels marinières and each dish was excellent. The food was so incredibly flavorful and authentically french. The ambiance of the restaurant was a little more rustic, with tables close together and a fairly big room, but it worked for the overall vibe. Definitely a great place for some authentic french food!

I cant wait to come back to here! The Le Steak Maison (Steak Frites) is amazing! Perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned, a very generous portion. Loved the bearnaise sauce with it as well, it was such a good value! The drinks were fabulous! Service was prompt and we were seated quickly. Only wish I had tried the crème brûlée and the escargot.... next time!! There will definitely be a next time.

This place is consistently good! The food has been high quality year over year. The "traditional" or "rustic", and unassuming ambiance of the restaurant only adds to the experience. This time we dined there in probably what felt like 105 degree heat due to the heatwave in DC but even that didn't ruin the experience. The service was perfect! Our server was attentive, good personality and approach and timely with the service.I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

There are photos on a wall with visitors that ate at this French restaurant. It feels like Bastille day. The French flag? The two people next to me were speaking French. There was an Asian family here. I wanted to try the French onion soup. I have had it on a cruise. I wanted ravioli with salmon..smaller size. I also sat with myself because you can't get me somebody to sit with...that I want to sit with...today or tomorrow..or next year...The picture of the president visiting this spot is funny and what else can you say...It was more than I wanted to pay and I had to pay. If you want to..I don't see why not...then I walked back home. Festive..

Came to Bistrot Du Coin on a Friday for an early dinner and had a great time! Arrived at 5:30 and it wasn't too crowded at all but started to fill up around 7:30 when we were leaving. The atmosphere very much feels like a French bistrot. It's very casual and has a nice neighborhood calm but lively feel. Our waiter came immediately and we were served warm bread with butter. I had the St. Germain, a simple champagne and elderflower cocktail. It was simple but tasty and served in a pretty flute like glass. To eat I had the salmon and my friend had the salmon ravioli. Both were amazing and we cleaned our plates! The salmon was perfectly moist and well seasoned. Extremely tender and flavorful. The risotto it came with was a perfect pair. The asparagus were well cooked and complemented the dish well. No complaints! For dessert we had the coffee with ice cream and mocha sauce with whipped cream and WOW such a wonderful dessert and perfect end to dinner.Service was super fast and attentive, we had our food and drinks immediately. Food was awesome, atmosphere was very casual. Can't wait to come back! The french onion soup and creme brulee is calling my name already.

This review is for dinner at 7pm for two at the bar on a Tuesday in mid-June.service: Hicham was incredibly hospitable and professional, despite being one busy bartender. He was right there when we wanted to order or if we had a question. Of note, the waitstaff seem to get along very well. Everyone was uniformly polite and positive, even though the place was getting crowded. bar: Highly recommend the Manhattan ($15 as of 06/2024). Perhaps of note, cocktail prices are pretty reasonable for DuPont Circle. My wife drank an elderflower lemonade ($8) and thought it good. I drank an excellent Cabernet ($14.50) with dinner. Lots of affordable wines by the glass and a handful of bottles. Of interest, looks like it's all European beers on tap. food: I always order escargot ($16) and these are the classic Burgundian preparation of butter, garlic, and parsley. They are excellent and come in a Staub cast iron, not in those annoying shells! My wife had high praise for the filet with Bearnaise and fries ($41). It's a very generous ten ounces and perfectly cooked. I had a half order of the steak tartare ($18) and thought it quite good. Note the half order does not come with fries. details: It's a bustling, noisy, high-ceiling-ed room. The vibe is casual, informal, and fun. A number of families with kids were there. They add a 5% food cost charge. Reservations recommended.
