Bidwell was a very pleasant and kind of unexpected surprise. I was in Washington DC for the weekend surprising a great friend of mine for my birthday. Because of that and the lack of planning ahead of time due to the surprise nature of my trip. The restaurant had a very eclectic menu for brunch/lunch, and I'd love to go back to sample many more of the dishes they have on offer. When I'm visiting new or unfamiliar restaurants, I often like to try many dishes. And I'll often order a larger number of only appetizers rather than one larger entree dish.As a result, I had the; lobster tacos, the deviled eggs, the fried calamari, the roasted cauliflower, in addition to the butternut squash soup. The fried calamari was very good (as expected), and the lobster tacos were suprisingly underwhelming. I think that I was particularly disappointed with the soft shell "wrap" on the tacos. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting with respect to the shell/wrap, but the texture of what I did get felt like it took away from the dish. Everything else about it was pretty crisp and tasty, but those tastes got a little "lost" in the soft/uneventful warp of the taco. The butternut squash soup was just a half a hair "under" salted for my tastes. And as I've gotten a little older, I've become VERY sensitive to salt levels in restaurant food. Restaurant food tends to be oversalted to my tastes, but this particular dish was just the slightest, minute amount under on the salt. Yet still it was overall quite good and very light (which is a good thing) for a butternut squash soup.By contrast the roasted cauliflower felt just the same half of a hair's width "over" salted to my taste. it was still very, very good and really well prepared temperature and texture wise. What I thought to myself as I was having this meal was that if I combined the roasted cauliflower into the butternut squash soup, then both dishes would have been at a perfect level of saltiness. The standout surprise was the deviled egg, and it was the only dish that I remembered to get a picture of before I finished it off. The height and volume of the deviled eggs filling was a real surprise, which may be hard to decipher from the photo but it's "huge." It's flavor (which was very mustard forward) - I loved. I don't know if "everyone" would have loved it (because I think people are used to more simplified and sweet/er flavor profile for deviled eggs). However I thought they were really speacil and stood out from the rest of the menu in a good way. There are still so many dishes that I'd like to try there, that I'm 100% sure I'll be back to try this place again the next time I'm in Washington, DC.

We went to Bidwell on a whim for brunch. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to be seated promptly. I had a yummy salad for lunch. It was good, but I thought it was a little overpriced even by DC standards. I like that the restaurant is attached to Union Market. There are so many vendors to explore. The market provides a good shopping opportunity or a chance to find a sweet treat after the meal.

Bidwell was...ok. The food was fine but nothing to write home about, standard Caesar salad, pizza, and oysters. The staff was perfectly kind, though they forgot to put the pizza in so it came out super late. We also had the shaved brussel sprout salad that was not good at all, very dry and bitter. We have been before and had a much better experience, def willing to try it again to see if it's better then!

Bidwell is fantastic!! I don't understand why it doesn't have a higher rating! Their burger (a patty melt) is insanely good and their turkey burger is great, too. I've also had the shrimp appetizer and their Caesar salad with salmon, which were both delicious. They have an amazing bottomless brunch! They bring a bottle of champagne and a bottle of juice to your table in an ice bucket, and they have the best service so it is truly bottomless! I didn't love their brunch food (I've had the omelette and burrito which I would not recommend), but it was a fun experience all around (and you can order lunch/dinner items during brunch)! We've had some of the best service we've ever had there! So friendly, nice, and helpful! Although, that's not the case every time - but all of our servers have been good at the very least. We like their seating options, especially outside - they have some of the best tables at union market!

Still a solid choice at Union Market. I enjoyed some cocktails and dinner on this visit. We had the crispy deviled eggs to start. It was a first for me, and I loved it because the yolk was so creamy. The salmon with veggies was soooo good, healthy, and filling (because hello, I was saving room for dessert). The sangria was a surprisingly wonderful end to the meal! Lightly sweet with fruit notes (and literal fruit).

When I saw the oyster deal, I couldn't resist. However, you get what you pay for. The oysters were a bit small and didn't come with much meat. The aesthetic of the restaurant was clean and modern. And the presentation of the oysters was gorgeous, but not much to eat.

We stopped for a late lunch. The white pizza was excellent! I would definitely order it again. The patty melt was served on a delicious rye bread but the patty itself was nothing special. We also had a house salad which was a nice light addition to the pizza.

This place is just the cutest. A gem sitting right. Y union market it's just too conveniently located. They have an oyster happy hour where oysters are 1.25 if you by by the doze and 1.75 if you don't buy by the dozen between like 4-630p. Their wood oven grill makes all the pizza slap. Loove it when it's fresh and you gotta try the charcoal crust! The oysters are fresh and so is the calamari. A drink with gin and matcha? First place in the city to see do this and I'm equally in love every single time. I've always had pleasurable service here and the location couldn't be more pristine! Perfect for all occasions and had indoor and outdoor seating. Casual ambiance. Great place

a nice lunch in union market! had the brussels sprouts, a glass of pinot grigio, and the margherita pizza. everything was extremely delicious and i especially enjoyed the little shavings of lemon zest on the pizza, which put the common margherita over the top and made it unique. service was good as well! a little expensive for what it is but it was a treat with friends, so i had a good time :)
