I came here for the first time today, and the store itself seems to be very similar to a couple of other markets in the city. It's old school, with antiquated floors and lighting This store definitely caters to a niche clientele, but when you compare the actual prices with those of some of the larger chain stores, the prices here are actually much higher. A half gallon of milk is twice the price than what you would find at a larger grocery store. There is no actual buthcer on site, although they do have a meat and seafood section. There were a few employees working here, although I didn't have any interaction with anyone. I think that this store best serves those customers that live close by and just need to purchase a couple of things. I probably would not do full fledged grocery shopping here simply because of the higher prices and most likely limited availability. It's a nice place however and everyone seems to be kind.

For the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, this is a good and RELATIVELY large international grocery store FOR THE AREA. I find this store better than the one a few doors down because this store is 1) larger and 2) carries more international products. Most of the products here are of typical American groceries mixed in with a good variety of Central American, few Peruvian, one kind of arepa mix and not much else for the rest of Latin America, sadly. Also unfortunately, most of their Hispanic products are limited to the Goya brand. There is also a good variety of Korean products. Unfortunately not much to offer for those from the Caribbean, or the rest of the world, however. Surprisingly they also stock seafood, which I didn't expect. They have a decently large produce aisle too.

I love Bestworld Supermarket! If you've spent any time overseas, this will be your store. It has aisle after aisle of foods from around the world crammed into a no-thrills large store in the center of Mt Pleasant. If you're a foodie and want to cook with some top foods from around the world, go here!A few things to point out:1) They have a good produce aisle.2) They have two sections of spices for cheap and tons of it.3) The cheese section skews hispanic, but it's so good!4) Pinatas are on sale all the time!Definitely go here for a DC adventure!

Best World is definitely a no-frills kind of store. I live right behind it, so it's a go to when we need to make a grab one thing or fill in the gap between a big grocery trip. I'm always surprised by the stuff they carry, and it's affordable for a local grocery. Some of the produce there is great, particularly those that you won't easily find in Giant, but in general the produce tends to be on the edge of going bad if not already bad. It's also not a great place for meat: they do have some cuts of poultry, beef, and pork that look decent, but a lot of it tends to be grey. They have a back section for seafood as well, but I haven't braved it. If you're looking for ingredients typically used in Asian or Latino dishes, this is the place to go. You can get a lot of uncommon spices as well. The staff is always courteous and professional, but not outwardly friendly. They will help you pick out avocados based on when you want to eat them, which always blows my mind.

Walk into Best World, and you'll see it immediately: this supermarket has heart. This supermarket has honesty. Best World isn't playing tricks on who they are or what they stand for. No bells, whistles, or nonsense to waste your time. Like you and me, they don't think a can of beans should be $5 just because it's got an "organic" sticker on it. Like you and me, they think you should get everything on your grocery list at one place.Looking for flavors from your native home? Best World's got you. Ever wondered what a jackfruit looks like? Come to Best World. They're not here just to serve themselves; they're here to serve the people.

Convenient for Mt. Pleasant locals, but not anything to write home about. This seems to be the largest grocery store in the neighborhood with a decent selection of Korean, Latino, and basic essentials. Pretty good produce and meat selection. More beans than you could ever want. Not a lot of choices for other things. For example if you want a specific brand of half and half or even nonfat, there's a good chance you won't find the exact thing. This is definitely not the cleanest grocery store, and I have definitely questioned a pack of sausage I bought here once. However, I will keep coming here out of convenience, but the place could definitely use some work.

Sure, I can find rice flour, but inventory skews slightly more Latino than Asian. Some bare American essentials to round out the selection a bit. Scant beer selection offers a nice spread across mainstream to craft brews, and Red Bull near the front. Friendly cashier, no plastic minimum that I could discern.-1 produce aisle. I'd aim for loose bins over shrink-wrapped packages, since the relative ripeness can be hit or miss. Jicama, cactus leaf, avocados, cilantro, lemongrass, sugar cane, persimmons, Asian pears, eggplant, baby carrots, butter lettuce, kale, collard greens. Pricing is competitive on bell peppers, chili peppers, and mangoes. Sell by dates are optimistic. About once a month the produce stocked is incredibly fresh.+1 offal cuts. Tongue, stomach, heart, gizzards, liver, feet, oxtail, both short rib cuts... and that's what I noted without thoroughly exploring the butcher counter. Good pricing on all chicken cuts. Still, I'd cook off any perishables I bought here within 24 hours.

I am biased because I live one block away from this grocery store. This definitely isn't a store you'd travel across town to patronize. But if you live nearby it's a solid, convenient option. The checkout ladies are all friendly and efficient. The store has 80 percent of what you'd get at a full-sized grocery store. The big weakness is the produce. I think they just don't get high enough turnover to offer consistently excellent produce. Sometimes the produce is great but other times the produce seems past its prime.
