Unpretentious, friendly staff, calming ambiance. We had these delicious meatballs in what felt like a French onion soup covered in gruyere and a delicious Camembert burger that was delicious. The only thing I could not fathom was the galette which garnered mixed reviews from me and my partner.Overall, would be back to try other familiar favorites, or for their awesome Wednesday Burger and Boudreaux special!

Always enjoy our experience here. Kids friendly and amazing staff. We had the Valentines prefix plus wine pairing and enjoyed every bite. It was just the right amount of food and wine. Intimate or family friendly ambiance.

Amazing neighborhood restaurant! I really enjoyed the restaurant week menu (they have 2 options for a $40 or $50 dinner pre fixe). I am still swooning over the scallop risotto. The French onion soup and ice cream sundae were also winners. It was busy with a nice atmosphere for Saturday night and good service. Lovely date night. Look forward to returning!

I have been here a couple times for their prefix brunch menu and have absolutely loved it. You get a lot of food for a very fair price and the atmosphere and service is always amazing. The food is not like the best thing I've ever had. Sometimes it's a little lacking, but it's still always very good and one of my favorite brunch spots

We came here for a Friday date night and had an amazing experience! We both ordered from the prix fixe menu--and added the wine pairing. My wife ordered the soup du jour (today it was the pumpkin bisque), the duck, and finished with the cheese plate. I ordered the French onion soup, the hangar steak frites, and the crème brûlée. The wine pairings came for each course, and maybe could have been a little more uniquely paired, but it was fun just the same. The entree wine (Pinot noir with the duck and a Bordeaux with the steak) were great choices, but they served us a sweet wine for both the soups and the dessert, which I felt could have been more varied. I am gluten free, and there were plenty of options as well as plates that could be altered to be gluten free. Our server Darya was super informative, helpful, and provided excellent service! We will definitely be back for one of the wine dinners!

Love this vibe. Dim lighting, slow jazz/piano music. Servers are nice. Bread comes with the table, along with butter. The bread tastes sweet. The steak was perfectly cooked, and was coupled with a tasty sauce to finish. Frites were seasoned well. They offer an aioli upon request for dipping. The cold soup was delicious and paired well with the bread. The crème brûlée was tasty.

I enjoyed a lovely evening at Bastille. Great selection of cocktails and wine. The white Negroni was balanced and escargot was delicious. The creme brûlée was my favorite, especially the salted chip cookie. It paired perfectly with the oaked Chardonnay. The staff provided excellent service and I look forward to stopping by again for their happy hour specials!

Though the place was drafty and I could feel the outdoor cold while sitting at a table next to the window. The overall atmosphere was great, the music was not so loud but I could hear the table next to me have a full and fun interesting conversation. In my opinion it added to the fun hearing the wild stories, while having my own conversations. The food presentation was one of the best that I have seen in a while, not only was the presentation great but the food was just as delicious.A place I would definitely recommend and make my way back to the experience once more.

Dined again for restaurant week and I think it's safe to say this is my favorite restaurant we dined here September 2nd and I'm now writing my review October 12th... I remember everything about the meal because it was that delicious!I had a party of three people; two of us also enjoyed a wine pairing with each of our courses. It was a great price and worth the addition. We started with snails, French onion soup, and the fried green tomatoes. All three were great. My favorite out of the three was the fried green tomatoes! It was very light and refreshing, salty, sweet, savory and quite large. The tomatoes were very crunchy despite all of the wet ingredients. The snails and soup were both savory and tasty. The snails were soft and the soup was very brothy with lots of cheese I ordered the scallops as my entree and OMG -- absolutely amazing. The risotto was smooth and creamy, the scallops perfectly cooked with a great sear... oh my goodness I dreamt about it. The duck and salmon were also delicious! The duck was very rich and I loved the peaches and blackberries with it.For dessert my partner and I ordered the panna cotta and the third person ordered the cheese dessert. Panna cotta was very refreshing and the vanilla bean was strong, but not overpowering. I loved the almond cake croutons, which is something I've never seen before. The fruit and cheese dessert was also very good. The bread was soft and had a lot of great textures from the nuts and dried fruits. I want to buy that Brie so I can eat it daily. The ambiance was very nice! The restaurant was clean and full of a lot of people, but it wasn't overly loud. I felt very relaxed and the waitress wasn't rushing us. The waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. There was a cute elderly couple next to my table and the woman's cardigan kept slipping off the back of her chair, which my waitress always noticed and helped with. She was very patient and kind about it.

There are several French restaurants in Alexandria. In my opinion, Bastille is the best of of them all. We finally dined at Bastille, every time we drove past the restaurant they weren't open. So we made a reservation on a beautiful and cooler summer evening. Everything about this meal was first rate. The staff are helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and patient. They are well trained. Our server Noemi did a great job explaining and guiding us to some excellent choices. She has a low key approach to her job, yet was available when we had a question or request. The inside of the restaurant is well appointed. The tables are spaced comfortably apart and the sound level allows for easy conversation. There's a nice bar which looks well stocked. We sat outside, next to the well manicured lawn of the resident building next to Bastille. There is a very nice wine list with a wide selection of red and white wines; we did not drink alcohol tonight. The dinner menu provides 3 options- a la carte and 2 levels of prix fixe. I chose the Bistro ($49) and my wife selected the Brasserie ($59). All of our dishes were excellent. My first course was a cold gazpacho soup. It was so well flavored, a wonderful balance of garlic and other spices with pureed vegetables. It was really refreshing. My wife enjoyed the 'Caesar Nicoise' salad which was a medley of delicious and well prepared and presented vegetables. Many times a salad can be quite boring. This salad had a real personality. Our main dishes were 'Saumon Royal Poele' with ratatouille. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was so moist and flavorful as were the veges. My wife's 'Paella aux Gambas' was equally delicious. Each of the different shellfish in the dish was distinctive and cooked to perfection. The prawns and calamari were particularly excellent.Dessert was a real surprise. They were flavorful, delicious and didn't make us feel over-full. We chose the 'Fromage Compose' which included a room temperature brie, wonderful spiced cherries and a fruit walnut bread. You could easily eat a loaf of that bread it was so delicious. The 'Pot de creme au Chocolat' was also wonderful. The flavors were bold and delicious and the dish wasn't too sweet. I also had the cappuccino which was high quality. So often in a restaurant cappuccino tastes machine made. This was a delicious and satisfying cup of coffee that rounded out my meal.
