Came here for dinner and had some odd experiences. First of all, two of the main options were sold out (?) at around 7:00. Which was a bummer because one of the sold out meals was why we came (jackfruit cubano). The grilled veggies were yummy but overall this was just a kinda meh meal and experience. The theming and atmosphere was very nice though!

Went here for brunch food was solid snd good service. I got the fried chicken sandwich and my mom got the eggs Benedict. The fried chicken sandwich is big and comes with either home fries or salad. The home fries are well seasoned and taste good with a nice crispiness. The chicken sandwich was well fried and crunchy the chicken itself tastes pretty bland unfortunately. The other fixings of avacado bacon lettuce tomato and mayonnaise adds some flavor but the chicken sticks out here. It likely doesn't have cayenne pepper on it. Overall a good dish. The eggs Benedict was good nice rich sauce with eggs perfectly cooked with a good amount of runnyness. Overall would go back.

Bar Pilar is a perfect option for anyone off U Street that wants a drink but not a large crowd. Our bartender Tasia was fantastic super nice and made delicious cocktails. We did see a few people enjoying dinner, the food looked yummy but we had pre-set dinner reservations so we stuck to the festive libations. We will be back to try some bites next time.

LOVED the French toast supremo (a sandwich)!!! The fried chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was pretty dry but the flavors were good.

While in DC, my husband, daughter and I went to Bar Pilar on the recommendation of a friend, and we were not disappointed. The menu is eclectic and interesting. We started with the pork and shrimp dumplings which were amazing little flavor explosions in your mouth. The only disappointment was that my husband wanted the Pulpo and they were out (it was a Friday night and we were the only ones eating at that point). He ordered the General Tso's Chicken which was not soggy with sauce as it can sometimes be. It was hot and very tasty. My daughter and I shared the roast pork and steamed buns and the pork was tender and flavorful while the buns were the best steamed buns we had ever eaten! The portion was so large that we shared with my husband and we still couldn't finish it.The staff was friendly and while we had to wait a bit for the check, the place had gotten super busy, it was not unreasonable. If you are in the area, this is a place that might not seem like it will have food other than bar food, but it is worth a stop.

I came to Bar Pilar for brunch. I ordered the Hangover Cure, which has eggs, potatoes, and biscuits and gravy. I thought the biscuits and gravy were the star of the dish, but the eggs were a bit cold and the cheese they'd been cooked with was sort of hardened. However, this was a great amount of food for $14, so can't complain about that! I also shared the chocolate glazed donut with a friend which was pretty tasty. I thought the ambiance and decor was a bit strange, but maybe just not my style. The service was fine, but took a while to get our food. I'd come back again to try dinner or drinks, but probably not for brunch.

never in my entire life has the service at a place taken a potential VIBE of a joint crashing so badly as it did at Bar Pilar- why did I make a reservation and like speak to multiple ppl on the phone for one if they don't have a host/hostess...- after seating ourselves we waited like 15 mins to be served...half way through saying our drink order the waitress walked away like girl plZ I'm starving - diet cokes were small guys and they did not put limes in the refills smh - the ricotta bacon pancakes are in theory a wonderful combo of sweet and savory with many textures... but instead they were average pancakes with sweet decent bacon and absolutely flavorless ricotta, you could have told me they forgot it- the not pictured breakfast burritos however were given very high ratings (they were quite thick actually with a spicy sauce on side) - don't. Even. Get. Me. Started. On. The. 20%. Auto. Tip.

I cannot fathom how this place is still in business. Did a bottomless brunch there. It took an hour after we sat down to place a drinks order. The drinks took a long time to come out because there was one bartender for the entire restaurant. When they did come out, I almost wished they hadn't. I didn't realize you could make a mimosa taste bad, but Bar Pilar managed to do it. They also admitted that they were running out of cups and had to wash them before each round. I don't understand why they don't do pitchers instead...The food took an additional hour and a half after we ordered to come out. One of the members of our party managed to go to Chicken and Whiskey, eat a meal, and come back before our food was ready (this was after an hour of waiting). The food was terrible. I got the Salmon Avocado Toast. The avocado tasted like store bought guac... Not a single meal was appetizing but at that point we were too hungry to care. In total, we were there for 3 painful hours and experienced the worst food and drinks I've ever had in the DMV. Do NOT go, Bar Pilar should be ashamed.
