Augie's Mussel House & Beer Garden

I came here on a Monday night and was immediately greeted by two very friendly bartenders. The atmosphere felt relaxed & chill which is just what I needed after a stressful day. Great variety of menu options, and a thoughtfully constructed tap list. I got the Blackened Salmon sandwich, which was great in terms of quality, price, and serving size. I also ABSOLUTELY LOVED the Irish red I ordered--silky smooth and refreshing. Augie's had been recommended to me over the years and it's a great neighborhood spot. I'll definitely be back!

Great food and I am sure the service would've been excellent but for them being short staffed...I went to Augie's this past Sunday night because it was restaurant week and they were listed as a participant. The hostess wasn't aware that they were participating so we had to ask her for a special menu which the bartended provided. They had a nice menu and I wanted mussels but they weren't on the restaurant week menu. Luckily, my friend ordered some so I got to taste them and they were the best thing we got. (Mediterranean Mussels) I got steak and cheese egg rolls for my starters and the Jambalaya pasta for my entree which was delicious. My friend got the chili dogs which she said were great. We sat at the bar because they didn't have many tables available and their main dining room was closed. The bar wasn't bad but the bartender seemed to be the only one serving so we had to try to get her attention most time we needed something. Still, wasn't bad but I am sure the next time we go will be great.

I have been meaning to come here for a few years now. I absolutely adore seafood, especially mussels. So I'm really happy I was finally able to come by and check them out. I made a reservation for a bar seat tonight but it wasn't necessary. They had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and bar seats. They also have an upstairs area but I am not sure if it was open. I was greeted immediately when I arrived by the staff and was directed to the bar area. My water was brought right away and all 3 staff behind the bar interacted with me throughout. It was my first time so they were great about answering questions as well as making sure I was taken care of. I opted for the rum punch and the risotto mussels but added pasta. It was a large portion. The dish came with shrimp, bacon cubes, peppers, seafood broth and parmsean. I opted out of the peppers, not a fan. The music was a great selection with a mix of old and new music. The place wasn't packed but there was a good crowd that probably crossed over from happy hour. I'm excited to come back and try multiple other menu options soon!

We had a bizarrely bad experience here that I can still barely believe. Not only were we sat by the coldest vent in history, we unfortunately suffered from very lackluster service. Some meals weren't brought to us until we asked, we weren't checked on for long stretches, and we had to wait a half hour for the check after we finished our meal.All of these things are fine--they happen. But the food also was just not good. The loaded fries were served inexplicably cold. The beer cheese was uncomfortably congealed. The jambalaya pasta had an almost inedible taste. Overall could not have had a less pleasant experience here.

We dined at Augie's Mussle House & Beer Garden Saturday night for a friend's birthday. Upon arrival, we were promptly greeted and directed to the community table, where the rest of our party was seated. After informing our server about my gluten intolerance due to Celiac disease, he recommended the streak & frites--no fries given cross contamination--instead a side salad, and the BBQ ribs with artichokes. Although everything tasted good, I soon realized there was something off with the ribs... It turns out they were soaked in beer! Not gluten free after all! Honestly, I should have double checked myself, but the server seemed so sure. Since it rained all night, we had dined inside. It was very loud at times and we struggled to have conversations, but that's just the vibe, I suppose. We liked that there were many TV screens, so we were able to watch the Olympic Games. Other than consuming gluten and getting really sick that night, the place is really nice, and we all appreciated we were able to pay individual checks, given the large party.

So let's get into the vibe of the spot, this looks to be a comfortable neighborhood atmosphere, it's cozy with an awesome outside patio option. Our server Chris was nice and even changed the tv to show the track and field for the Olympics. So just let it be known everyone was super friendly. The mussels were delicious and my fried Mozzarella was incredible. My drink was strong and delicious. If I had any critiques there were too many nets and flies to compete with to stay for dinner and a part of that is nature right lol So I will own I am a little bit of a princess in that respect . However in the winter I would totally be back .

A VIBE! The outside patio has string lights, tvs galore, fans, brick, bars - we are so excited to come back for football games!Even tho we weren't super hungry, we were enticed by their mussels menu and opted for the Nduja, which are apparently the fan favorite and I can see why. These mussels were top 3 I have ever had. I would have bathed in the sauce they were cooked in! So garlicky with a perfect kick of heat! Next time, we will get the mussels over pasta or with a side of fries so we have a vessel to consume ALL of the delicious broth.We will be back many more times!

Food is delicious! Came there for one thing &one thing only "in-kind" App & mussels. But was enjoying the ambience so I ordered my hubby a Belgium flight & Bloody Mary. Bloody Mary was tasteless! Haha but most bars like these never do it right! So I didn't complain just drank. I enjoyed the mussels for sure! The beer was good. Service was great until I requested for the bill and they double charged me for the Belgium flight!! Huh we came in for a quick get away date and we're not young peeps drinking heavy and irresponsibly! We definitely didn't appreciate that sneakiness! It's really hard to find good old honest service these days! It's happened frequently these days! Watch your bills guys! It's ridiculous to see that we pay for food and have to leave tips for such people who don't accurately charge us the correct amount. Food is good but not good enough to be cheated. Be careful out there!

Got to Alexandria for a weekend ceremony and Friday night needed to find some food. A quick map search near the hotel and found this gem. If you are a Belgian food/beer lover this is a very fun place to go. It has an open air area that has TVs that give off a Biergarten/communal family seating vibe. The food offerings have classic America (burgers and sandwiches) but their Mussels and Pom Frites are what you need to have there. Their staff works hard to cover everyone as they were packed and their happy hour is a busy event there. This is a fun place and o highly recommend it. The only other place I know of in the DC area is Granville Moore's and so this is a great addition to the food scene here.

Beautiful place friendly service way too many flies! My mom sister came in with the full intention of having a full dining experience. We ordered drinks and appetizers it felt like as soon as the appetizers came out the flies and nets attacked. We were eating inside! I'd like to say that the Nduja Mussels were some of the best I'd ever tasted but I can't be sure because I was eating them so fast trying to fight off the flies. My sister said that they the mozzarella sticks were okay. Maybe I will have to come back during the cooler months.
