My wife and I ordered from here on UberEata two weeks ago and got the Special Vegetable Combination that came with a fried fish, the Aratekilo Special Tibs with lamb, more injera, and more Ethiopian injera. It is some of the best Ethiopian food we have had and we look forward to eating from here again. The portions were also very large so we had plenty of leftovers.

Skimpy portions and (ice) cold food (waited an hour too)! And...they'll ignore your requests and give you what they have if they run out! Beware

The customer service was so horrible, I almost walked out. The gentleman at the front desk made NO effort to try to communicate with me and was dismissive of me trying to ask any questions. He just told me to wait for service. After waiting for a while , the gentleman waves at me to go the butcher, which is empty. Finally the butcher shows up and can't understand me and is not friendly. He weighs my meat and I request it is cut into tibs size. This is something I confirmed that they can do when I walked in. The butcher packs up the meat and tells me to tell the other gentleman to cut it for me. After waiting, that gentleman shows up and has to take it back to the butcher to cut the meat. He has some uncomfortable exchange with the butcher and tells me it is not mandatory for the butcher to cut the meat into the size I want. He tells me the butcher is "helping me". I am in total confusion because that was the first thing I asked when I walked in, if they could cut it tibs size. Absolutely horrible! There was raw meat all over the the box that was handed to me with meat. What a shame! I was planning to buy 6 sets of Ethiopian bowls, plates and trays and decided against it. This place does not deserve my money. Very disappointed! I have been to many Ethiopian butchers and restaurants in downtown silver Spring and never experienced this. I will not be returning here. What type of of Ethiopian place doesn't know how to cut meat into the size for tibs??!

This place used to be just a market but now it also has a restaurant upstairs. It's become very popular and is an inexpensive place to get good Ethiopian food. They don't sell beer like the other places around town, so more of a lunch destination for me.I got Lamb Tibs with Wot sauce and loved it.

I used to go to this place so often with my GF. The worst customer service we ever experienced. I can go in details but it's not worth my time. You beg them to take your orders and if you are lucky you will get your food ready between 30 to 45 minutes. The very disappointing thing is that no one bothers to come and let you know how long your food will be ready. Once you are done eating you need to get up and walk to the counter for payment. The sad looking old man at the register never seem to understand about customer service. He look at you as if you went to his own house as an intruder rather someone who pays his bills. Neither I nor my GF will ever go back to this place. Bad business!!

Living in Downtown Silver Spring will make you wonder if there is a limit to how many Ethiopian restaurants the community can support. So far it hasn't been found. Here, we finally have an Ethiopian grocery. The place is small, but they have a good selection (for all I can tell) of spices, dried legumes and other staples of Ethiopian food. They have fresh breads, obviously including injera. They also have a decently-sized fresh meat counter, and if the butcher at the Whole Foods up the street looks at you funny when you ask for goat chops, bring your business, here. They don't appear to have any fresh produce, something they share with the Thai Market a block away. They do have imported Mexican Coca-Cola, made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup. They also seem to have hedged their bets by devoting some shelf space to typical convenience store mainstays like breakfast cereal, snacks, cleanser, toilet paper, and some canned goods. Some of these things are not flying off the shelves, so you are advised to check expiration dates. They do have fresh coffee and cold sodas, too, so this can also be a handy place to get some caffeine to go.

Been meaning to write a review well here it is. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Ethiopian food hell I grew up on it. There is a rule Dont ray dulet unless it's at your home or a relatives home. Well I took a chance Arat kilo has the freshet and cleanest dulet. The Godwin Tibs the Derek Tibs are the bomb. Honestly the 50/50 is my go to off of door dash dulet and Derek Tibs. The service is always good. Other place give you less portions when you order to go even through door dash but not here. My order is always heavy and satisfying. My mom grew up in Arat Kilo. I was worried when you named the place Arat kilo in my mind you had big showed to fill. Well you have definitely made Arat Kilo proud.

It was an awesome experience. My mother works in Arat Kilo and a lot of times she brings me food from there. I really love it and I would eat the same food 10 times because it just tastes very good.
