Me and a couple friends went to check out Ama the other day. When you walk in, you're greeted with a modern, luxurious but comfortable space with beautiful art pieces decorated throughout. They have a huge long bar to hang out at if there's space. They also have a few drinks on tap that you can order while you wait for you table that the host will pour for you if you don't want to try and hit the bar. They serve incredible drinks like a frozen aperol spritz which is incredible on a hot day. Their Hugo spritz that's made in house is so refreshing and delightful. And my favorite, the vintage Negroni. I forgot which gin was used, but it comes along with vintage 1980's Campari and a barolo vermouth that will blow you away. The food is thoughtful and handcrafted from start to finish. Highlights for me were the dumplings and meat ravioli. There's so many more dishes on my list that I need to go back and try. Every single person on the service staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable if you did have questions on anything. I will definitely be back!

The food is good- plentiful portion on both burrito and quesadilla and basically tasted like a home cooked meal. There are no menus other than the large one posted on the wall (without prices) and can/bottled soda/water were only accessed individually from the upright cooler. Chips and salsa were not served - maybe that's a more authentic experience? Also would have enjoyed a margarita but no alcoholic beverages available. Total bill for 2 entrees and sodas was $27 so not exactly cheap for lunch and such limited options but food was really good.

This was the first time I tried this family owned restaurant. It was open for dine in and pickup, and there was only one other party of 2 in there when we stopped by for pick up on a Saturday afternoon. The food was as good as it looks! First of all, make sure you try the pupusas, which were so warm, tasty and very well textured! I also ordered the chicken fajitas, which were also tasty. My friend ordered the mixed (steak and chicken) burrito and commented about how the chicken could have been a little more tender, but I enjoyed the texture of my chicken fajitas. I also really appreciated that there was a good amount of hot sauce also packaged in our order, and it looked and tasted like it was home made :)The portions were very generous, and I had a little leftovers that I ended up eating later in the day. Stop by for the tasty cooking and warm service!

I was out and craving food. So, like normal, I let my stomach lead the way. I searched my good 'ol Yelp app and realized that a papusa would do the trick. Enter Ana's not too easy to spot. Not much going on inside, rather there was no one inside. (I think) Ana was chillin, and I placed my order, and she immediately got to cooking my food. I got two pork and cheese papusas. They were hella fresh and filling. If I'm hanging out in the area, I'll head on back.

It's 9:45am on a Tuesday in parkview and I'm prowling for caffeine and a little bite before meeting up with a colleague to work. I stop by colony club for a coffee but forgo any breakfast foods because I need to stop spending 10-15 dollars for a sandwich. Heading back to my car, I see Ana's with its doors open and a spot a picture of pupusas. Masa, cheese, and meat - that's an ideal breakfast food isn't it? So I head in ordering 2 pupusas to go. The lone woman in the restaurant, presumably Ana, heads back into the kitchen to prepare my order and I hear her patting the masa, forming my pupusas by hand. Where else in dc can you get handmade, cooked to order food in dc for 2 dollars a piece? I whole heartedly expected premade pupusas to be reheated on the stove especially this early in the morning but instead she's making big gooey fresh pupusas for me. She carefully packs it up in a foam clamshell and when I thought it couldn't get better of course I get a nice big bag of curtido, napkins, and a fork picked up in my bag. I've never been to El Salvador before but if you've never been to a Latin American country and ordered from a one (wo)man street stall and they hand you your little baggie of food, you know it's going to be good. And boy is it. Piping hot. Melty, cheesy. Too cheesy even (If there's such a thing). The masa is cooked perfectly so that it's crisp and maillard-y on the outside but perfectly tender. Not too salty. All this for less than five dollars. Some people bag on dc for not having a food scene as great as [insert some other overpriced city here], but they obviously don't know about the joys of a fresh pupusa. Leonardo DiCaprio knows, why don't you?

We came in here for a late lunch on this very cold and dreary Sunday. When we walked in we immediately knew the type of restaurant this is. Having lived in Mexico for many years, I can tell you that this place is as authentic Mexican as authentic gets. We counted about six tables, and there was hardly a soul inside eating, so finding a nice table was a snap! It took less than a minute for me to figure out what I wanted to order. I went for the 1/4 charbroiled chicken platter which includes french fries, brown rice, and a small dip of black beans. The small portion of black beans is how they always serve it in Mexico, and I've never questioned it. My girlfriend got the beef burrito platter that also included rice and black beans. I think it was Ana herself who took our order, and then went to prepare the platters for us. We sat and chilled for a little while and barely even noticed that any time had passed by. Whatever little bit of wait that we endured was well worth it! The chicken she served me is super fresh, and the fries too were cooked to perfection! We hope to come back here soon to try out the dinner options!

The quality of the food is very dependent on what you order. Four stars for the shrimp al ajillo, but the seafood soup was inedible. The pupusas are quite good. The staff are nice and clearly work hard.

Never ever take a place like this for granted, to get something this good for this price is unheard of these days. The inside is cute but also good for a casual takeout, I hope this business is thriving bc it deserves it
