Not sure where the high ratings are coming from, but Abbaee Soondae is not it.Besides being known for their soondaes, locals seem to like their soups and stews. We came here for an early lunch, and we decided to try their highly-raved Gamjatang and their Kimchi Jjim. Both didn't even come out piping hot - it seemed as if it was warmed 'quickly', and it was lukewarm, where some parts, like the meats and such, were still cold. The kimchi jjim had a good amount of kimchi, but, the flavor was a little off. The gamjatang had an off-putting pork taste/flavor to it, and the soup itself was thin and watered down. The banchans that were served were minimal, and more on the sweeter side - it seemed that they are very heavy-handed in sugar or adding sweetners.Service is friendly. Not an enjoyable meal whatsoever!+lukewarm/cold entrees served+off-putting odors and flavors in dishes+friendly service+plenty of parking available

Our party of six (three adults and three toddlers) had a good dinner experience. We ordered roughly $150 worth of food. The taste was good and the portions for the price were great. The glazed pork hock (large, $35) was definitely the best dish. The kimchi and lettuce combined with the hock was divine. My two year old ate at least 10 slices of the pork hock! The flavor was amazing and the texture was perfect. The stir fried squid and pork ($21ish) was also pretty good. The best part about this dish was the marinated sauce. The leek pancake was pretty good as well. Each bite was tasty and crunchy! The budae jjigae $16, buckwheat noodle $15, udon noodle $13, and the $30 buckwheat noodle with lettuce and spicy marination were all just average to okay. We'll definitely come back to try the other dishes!

BEST Jokbal I've ever eaten!! If I lived near this restaurant I would go weekly (or more often)! The vegetables served with the Jokbal and Bossam were SO fresh! All three varieties of soondae were excellent and fresh. The gamjatang was perfectly seasoned and the meat was delectable! I can't wait to return to Virginia so that I can eat here again! Lastly, the ladies who work here were so friendly and nice.

Abbaee was a cozy and authentic spot. The server spoke limited English, but food and service were great. The bossam was amazing, and the portions were pretty decent.

Food: if you are looking for some authentic Korean food, check out this place. We got Pork Neck bone soup which comes with a bowl of rice and some side dishes - cabbage kimchi, pickled radish, radish kimchi, and spicy garlic stem / pepper. Service: our server provided great service. She checked on us several times for our drink & side dishes. Ambiance: nice cozy place in a stipe mall. The restaurant has about 10-15 tables available & when we visited on Saturday around 11:30, there were enough tables. We didn't need to wait in line. We will come back~

This is a small hole in the wall authentic Korean restaurant. I went there with my financee who loves Korean food. We got the bossam there which was delicious and the coup that they give is also flavorful. It can be kind of hard to gauge the food unless you know Korean but there are pictures and the restaurant people are kinda I will be back to try other dishes

Korean aunties will make you feel at home here. Everyone else orders the soup but I come for just one dish.. bo ssam! Pork belly with plenty of sides and a soup (add salt to your taste). When it's busy that place gets slammed. But that just means everybody knows how good it is. Has never been really loud to me. I will keep coming here often.

This is our favorite place for soondaebokkeum. Something about the sauce and how you smother it will perilla leaves will leave you wanting more -- definitely a standard deviation better than all of the other places that serve this dish. I would say the one downside is when you're asking for leftovers to be packed -- at times they'll ignore you and want to take everything away so please speak up in order to be heard here!
