Wally's American Gastropub

Wow - talk about a great surprise. Went looking for a spot to get some lunch and read that Wally's had received some great reviews. Not only was the staff incredible (shout out to Briar!), but the food was phenomenal. I ordered the Prime Rib sandwich - chefs kiss! So good! We also got to try the appetizer rolls and their weekend special - biscuits and gravy - on the house! I had mentioned we had never been there and that I was going to get the rolls, but decided to not carb overload (a weakness of mine!). Briar brought us the rolls on the house insisting they were worth a try - and he wasn't lying! So, so good - a must if you come to Wally's. They also brought us the biscuits and gravy to try since I was torn on that or the Prime Rib sandwich. Plus, being from Texas, I can be a biscuit snob - but their biscuits are top-notch! Warm, crunchy on the outside and pure softness in the middle. I can't find a single fault at this place. Probably the best place we ate the entire time we were in Scottsdale. Run, don't walk, to Wally's. You won't be disappointed!

Yes please! Local. Neighborhood favorite. Make reservations. Order the chicken Parmesan and the ribs. You will thank me later. Ask about the pie. You are welcome.

Update. Went again a year later. We thought the bartending was still excellent, but the food execution wasn't on point last night. Everything came out really fast - almost too fast. My meatloaf was reheated so much that one side was hard and dry. My wife's salmon was drastically undercooked and our asparagus was cold and raw. The bartender made things right quickly with a set of ribs for me and a new salmon for the wife. The ribs were good - same as the Collins. My wife's second salmon was better but lacked seasoning. The second asparagus was still undercooked.I like the drinks and the bar, but the kitchen needs to slow down and improve the execution.

Great service and dining experience. Sat out on the partio during the late afternoon and it was like having a private dining experience.The food was so fresh and good. Old Bay seasoned shrimp cocktail on ice. Special menu item Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout with Sautéed Spinach. Salmon & Spring Salad and nice refreshing red sangria.

We stopped in on a quiet Saturday afternoon for lunch. The flooring could use a bit of revival and same with their bathroom, but it was a homey little spot. Our server was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed throughout. Since we were at a pub, I had to get fish and chips. I had seen a review that mentioned tater tots, but they're no longer available. My husband got a burger and a beer, their $20 weekend lunch special. Both of our meals were pretty good, no complaints. Glad to have found a nice little spot off the beaten path.

Very nice dinner recently at Wally's I had the spicy fish sandwich (with great matchstick fries) and my dinner companion had a great meatloaf. We shared terrific, seared brussels sprouts. The service was very attentive and the seating in the covered outdoor patio area was great. I will be back!

Came here with friends few weeks ago and have a good time. Good we're good and service was good as well.

I really enjoyed this place, looks like a cool old pub. Love the noble buns, artichokes we're great and the sauce was perfect for it. The fish and chips were a great size but the bourbon street rigatoni was off the charts great!!! The brownie was also perfectly soft. Our waiter was on top of it and friendly.

This past weekend we had another wonderful lunch date; their day's specials. Wife had halibut with lemon caper cream sauce and sautéed spinach. I enjoyed my Cuban sandwich with their signature fries. Both were incredible. I asked for horseradish with my sandwich which kicked it up to an entirely different level. A few dollops piques its already-delicious complexity. Of course the service was as consistently great as always. And as I've written previously their attention to detail is among why Wally's is one of our favorites. Gratitude and looking forward to our next visit.
