Voodoo Gumbo

You guys were packed when I came in as a solo table. I expected to get pushed to eat takeout but was stoked when they offered me a table with no push back. The bartender offered me her special and had me try the best sample tray ever while I looked over the menu. My server was so kind, let me eat in peace and kept me with a smile. Perfect place. I will be back and giving out recommendations!

Never judge a book by its cover! We are visiting Nashville and when we pulled up, it looked like a tiny little takeout place from the outside. Then when we walked in, it's a full restaurant and even had cocktails and alcohol. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. The staff is some of the friendliest people. We had two people come check on us after we received our food to make sure everything was okay and our server was just the kindest person ever. Now the food! Seasoned to perfection and perfectly fried. The fish was so light and flaky and the shrimp was delicious! We were so happy at the end of our meal. Not one of us lest a thing on our plates.

I have come here a few times and the food is good. They did change up the ordering of your food for the good. If you are eating here you now are seated and you have a server. Much better! Server was friendly and was efficient. I ordered the seafood gumbo to start off with, very good and the bread was amazing. Then I had the Crawfish étouffée, and it was too similar to the gumbo. I would not get that again. My wife had the Catfish PoBoy and that was good. The best was dessert, Beignets were amazing!

I'm just being a tourist for sure!!!! First time coming here and the food was spectacular.. the seasoning of the gumbo was soo delirious... the gator bites with the sauce was in an amaze of sweet and tangy.. the fried oysters well you just won't be disappointed at all.. our server was soo sweet, efficient, and prompt.. when we first walked in i wasn't expecting a big restaurant but its set up soo nice, like you feel like your down in New Orleans for sure and I've never been. It's a must come for sure!!!! Highly .

And it's still 5 stars: when my child runs to hug the owner ("Hi, Mr. Herb!") who consistently drops by each table to ask how the food is, you know you're in a great place. And the food is just as grand as the people who work there-- chicken and sausage gumbo, seafood gumbo, etoufee, jambalaya, red beans and rice--I've had them all. If you can't decide, just grab a cup of two different ones! The fries--I don't know what they do to make those fries so delicious, but they're magical. The grilled cheese sandwiches are magical, too: just ask my son!Please try this place! If we didn't live nearly an hour away, we'd be there weekly!

My family wanted to go to Voodoo Gumbo for the bread pudding...which is amazing! We ordered our food to go... a lot of food, by the way. It was good, but I felt it was overpriced for a couple of the orders. The fried oysters meal was light - to be specific. I thought that maybe we got less since it was to go. I'm sure they normally give the same amount as when eating at the restaurant and this was just an oversight. The service was great. They were very friendly at pick up. We had to wait an extra 10 minutes which was. Not a problem. They were very nice.

For authentic Cajun fare in the Bellevue area, come to Voodoo Gumbo. The jambalaya was delicious. Their french bread is the best and it makes for an amazing po'boy.The staff is friendly and attentive. They do not assume you are a NOLA native and explain the tastes and options for everything.This is great food to take to go or for delivery.For a quick lunch or delicious dinner, consider Voodoo Gumbo.

Dare I say the best OYSTER POBOYS IN NASHVILLE! huge and packed with fresh fried oysters! Now the kitchen was in the weeds which made for a long take out wait, but the food was AMAZING!

Our family got takeout for our Mom's 91st birthday. The food was amazing, Herb was very helpful with picking the menu, upon pickup they were very helpful getting the food to the car, serving utensils were included, rice was portioned in single serving sizes, everything was labeled, they provided chafing containers and sternos to keep the gumbo and etouffee warm...They were amazing. Looking forward to another visit and takeout for another party.
