I took a star off because going here is getting... weird. It's probably because of the area, but as a customer I don't like it and it's making me reconsider eating here. Ugh. Today I ordered takeout and ate it in my car. I realized I needed to use the restroom so I went back in. The restaurant was empty and a different worker was at the front on the phone. I was carrying my takeout bag. The worker gave me the "just a minute" finger and I signaled that I was going back to the restroom. As soon as I started back she paused her call and asked me if I needed something. It felt weirdly accusatory. I let her know I had just finished my takeout and needed to use the restroom. The time before, I had my two year-old in a stroller and I ordered takeout. I paid more than $40 for just two items. The restaurant was empty this time as well. I told them I needed to head to the restroom and when I came out I set my food down and straightened myself and got my kiddo ready for the great outdoors. One person working picked my food up from where I had set it down (it didn't feel polite, it felt like they thought I was going to... sit down and eat the food I just bought from them, or something else horrid) and started to walk it towards the door "for" me before I was done. It wasn't closing time. It was just bizarre. I am clean, middle-aged, very polite. I'm not sure why in both instances when I had spent good money and shown my "worth" to them that the treatment was so weird, but I'll consider it next time I'm in the area. I guess the combination of the two weird experiences got to me. If they were isolated I would feel less weird about it (although the second one I listed alone felt pretty bad). I hate writing this. I hate to be sensitive about this but I was a paying customer who just needed to use the bathroom.

I enjoy the food here but it's just gotten way way way too expensive. I certainly can't afford to come here much more than a couple of times a year because I just can't justify the value for the money. Maybe I'd feel differently if I were a celiac vegan, but I'm not, I'm a vegan who can eat gluten so there are much better-value choices around. Today I had the Grickle pizza and a lemon bar. The Grickle pizza was pretty good but the cheese had sort of a funny taste (nooch? I definitely prefer cashew cheese on pizza). The lemon bar was delicious and I think they have really great baked goods in general. On previous visits here, I've had their taco special and also their nachos, and I liked it but didn't love it -- I'm not sure Mexican food is their strong suit. I've also had their alfredo and enjoyed it.Atmosphere-wise, it's bright and clean and welcoming. Service was great.I would come here more often if they lowered their prices a bit.

Probably the best vegan restaurant in Tacoma. Food is amazing, but not always consistent. But it is always delicious. Biggest issue is their pricing, everything is way overpriced and everyone I go back the prices are higher.

Just adding another review for our lunch photos. Lunch was great! My sister-in-law and I both enjoyed our meals, and they accommodated her food allergies (garlic).

The best vegan restaurant in Tacoma!Oh how I love raw vegan but not only that they have the comfort foods like nachos, Mac & cheese, mushroom dip, cauliflower wings. And if the entrees aren't enough check out their decadent display of desserts. From raw cheesecake, cookies, hummingbird cake, chocolate truffle cake, peanut butter bars.Service is very attentive! They're quick & friendly. Ambiance is good for large groups or intimate dates.A must try for vegans, plant based, flexitarians, carnivores, everyone!

The food here looked delicious! I didn't get to try a whole lot of options but, I got the 253 Philly. The flavor of the sandwich was delicious. I'll say that the sandwich was pretty dry once all the sauce was gone. The service here was good. Our waiter was friendly. The ambiance was quiet. Not a very loud or crowded place which is nice. I will come back here again sometimes soon to try something different. Cause I know there's bound to be something I love on the menu.

We were greeted by the owner and got a brief history of her vision for servicing an all vegan, gluten-free and organic menu. Great customer service from our server. Menu special on the wall and other options on the menu. Most prices over $20 an dish. Offers coffee, juice, beer and wine. We dine in. We order the ginger wings. Delicious with and without the dipping sauce. We also enjoy the BBQ pizza. I'm not a fan of warm pineapples, but outside of that it was also delicious. We will return as there were so many other options we would like to try. The ambiance was perfect for our dining experience.

Viva has a great vibe, tasty food, and solid service. I have to say it is quite expensive in comparison to other restaurants in the area but keep in mind they use organic high quality ingredients. All of those positives being said. The Hawaiian style pizza ordered made me incredibly sick. I'm not sure why, but it did. I would be inclined to give them another go in the future potentially.

Update as I have gone back. The nachos supreme are definitely worth the extra price compared to the regular nachos. I will come back just for the nachos. The mushroom melt was also stellar. So happy to have so many vegan options here in tacoma.

Vibe: The new (ish) location is too big, has an awkward layout, and is decorated poorly (very cold) Service: was terrible! The young lady felt the need to give us a 2-minute lecture about vegan food at the vegan restaurant that makes it very clear they are vegan on all signs/advertisements (it was a very awkward situation-- possibly could have given her some grace had she seated us first but a lecture in the cold breezeway is very uncomfortable) After being seated, she served us lukewarm water before taking our drink order (two hibiscus mimosas) that never arrived. Food: was good but way overpriced, and the portions were small and took 45 minutes to prepare (it was just two of us, and the other four parties in the restaurant had food already) Overall, we won't be back, but if you're vegan and want a decent meal, I recommend ordering to-go.
