The food reminded me of Europe. It totally tasted authentic to me. The service my family had was great and the server was willing to take the time to talk about the meals in the menu and gave multiple recommendations.

Vito's looks like a place that you'd want to go for Italian cuisine. It's obviously popular. We've been multiple times both just ourselves, and with groups of friends. I'd like to talk first about what what Vito's does really well. The service is very, very good. Top notch. I've never had a bad experience with the staff, the've been very attentive and we've appreciated that. It's a popular venue as well. It's not often we've been there where they haven't been busy. That's why I don't understand why the food isn't better than it is, which leads me to what my review is focused on.Based on my visits to Vito's, my impression is that they seem to have lost touch with what's really important in the restaurant world. Providing a culinary experience that leaves customers wanting more, and looking forward to the next visit.I've tried a range of entrees and pasta dishes at this restaurant, and while they're always "just OK", I've never had a meal there that left me saying "that was an awesome meal". Simply put, the food just isn't that good, although it could be with perhaps some new blood in the kitchen or a chef who is focused on creating well seasoned Italian cuisine that tastes great and leaves one wanting more. For our last, perhaps our final visit to Vito's, we shared bruschetta pomodoro, Veal Picatta, and a simple pizza margharita for myself. I've shared pictures of both entrees below that featured veal literally swimming in sauce with a light sprinkle of capers, and a terribly overcooked pizza margharita for me. The veal was ok, but it was drowning in sauce. The veal dish doesn't come with a side of pasta, but you can pay an upcharge for a side, $2 for pasta with pomodoro, or $4 for garlic and oil, or, you can opt for a side of sauteed spinach with garlic and oil for $8--which is what we did. Not surprisingly, the spinach side lacked any real seasoning of note. We ended up adding a lot of salt ourselves just to season up the spinach a bit. My overcooked pizza margharita featured paper thin slices of mozzarella that slid off the pizza slice with the first bite. And, god help me, I've had better pomodoro out of a jar than what came on my pizza. Topping off the pizza were chopped up bits of basil for color, I suppose. Finally, and probably the most distressing aspect of our visit was the utter lack of flavor of the Bruscetta di Pomodoro. Simply put, it was just a dry piece of bread with a scoop of unseasoned chopped tomato with olive oil. No seasoning at all. Full stop. I mean, really, how does that happen? So the important advice that I'd pass on is that they should remember that there are plenty of other options for Italian cuisine in town. If I'm going to spend my hard earned cash on a dinner out--especially at Vito's price point, I'm going to opt for a restaurant that will provide a meal that will leave me wanting more.

The food is sub par and the price is not worth it. Our server didn't pay attention to anything we said we had a server from another table taking care of us more often. Bland and boring is the best way to describe this place.

Walking into the restaurant with my stepson and husband, I was not greeted with a "hello" or "how are you guys doing." There were three hosts standing around, one asked "did you want me to grab this one?" Asking the other two hosts. Probably around two to three servers at the end of the bar - just looked at us with no smiles on their face. Stood at the middle of the bar - one bartender finally asked my husband if he wanted a drink. He placed an order which was made in a timely manner, by that time the host brought us to our table towards the back of the house. Towards the back of the house the seat and tables were tight fitting. It smelled like old carpet/stains and stagnant waterOur servers name was Donna, she was very nice and attentive. Was there to ask if we needed refills but we declined. Food came out quick and there were two bussers who kept coming back around to our table to clear plates. I ordered the eggplant parm- didn't have any flavor, eggplant was sliced very thin and had a thick outer layer. Had to add salt and other seasonings. The dish did not come with pasta but there was an option to add pasta. Was very disappointed it did not come with pasta. It did come with a salad, you had a choice of a creamy Italian vinaigrette or balsamic vinaigrette. My husband was going to order a chicken Marsala but instantly changed his mind as soon as he found out there was no pasta included. Again, there was an option to add pasta.Pizza was okay, super cheesy and fresh tasting. Garlic knots were good but was drier than expected. There was no flavor except the fresh garlic taste. Super buttery or oily - definitely add salt on top for more flavorOverall, my experience was not good. Customer service from everyone should have been better. One out of four dishes was good but would not be returning. This is a cash only place

Best food ever! Everything we ate was phenomenal. If you are ever in the Southern Pines area, I would highly recommend stopping at Vito's to dine. My family chose the red spinach pizza, penne al inferno pasta and chicken Parmesan and all were so delicious. Get the creamy Italian dressing for your salad. You won't be disappointed. The service was friendly and attentive, even while they were very busy. The owner even came to all the tables to speak to everyone which was a nice touch.

Vito's in Pinehurst has a small dining room and reminds me of those great Italian restaurants behind a NY pizza place. The service is great and the food is really good. They have great pizza and the entrees on the menu are usually quite good. If they offer you garlic on the rolls, be warned that it's plentiful and potent. In a town without too many Italian places, Vito's is a welcomed and worthy place to stop and dine.
