An old neighborhood bar serving up thin style pizza in Chicago. The place has the feel of a working man's bar...probably has looked like it does for a good many years. The pizza was good and well worth trying. They get a real good cook on the pizza...which we all like it this way. Now: We tried the pizza with the eggs and the deep fried chopped up bacon...e en added garlic at the waitresses suggestion. I don't think the egg added anything really. But it was still a good pizza. Sausage pizza was really good.

Took a 40 minute ride to this place, wanted to love it.. The place is old school like walking into a bar in the 70'sService was excellent, pizza was good, was hoping for more. They only accept cash and it's posted in quite a few places outside and in The restaurant. If you're in the area a great place for pizza. If you're not, there is surely a equal place near you.

At times mentioned as one of the best pizzas in Chicago. My experience was far from it. We decided to dine in as some reviews noted that the thin pizza can get cold by the time you get it home. Upon entering you're taken back to an old school bar interior, reminded me of a VFW bar. Vintage decorations, pictures, and brown carpet on the walls. A contrast from all the new, modern places. We were seated within a few minutes, but took more than 15 minutes for the waitress to come back and take our drink and food order. We ordered a couple cokes (came in large cups), jalapeño poppers, and 2 pizzas. 1 sausage and gardinera and 1 pepperoni/black olives and gardinera. The poppers were great. Generously filled with cheese and a thick slice of jalapeño. The pizza took over an hour from the time we ordered it. I was excited to try it and was completely let down. The sausage pizza was cold and the pepperoni was barely warm. It's like they forgot it and let it sit for some time before bringing it to us. The crust was barely crispy in some places and not at all in others. The middle slices were all floppy and undercooked underneath. Taste-wise I'd say it would rival the best frozen pizzas I've ever had. But, best pizza in Chicago, not even close. We were never checked in on again from the waitress. I had to go up to her to ask for the check. It's cash only. She brought the check over and left. I needed change, but again she never returned. So, I had to go up and ask for change before finally leaving utterly disappointed.

You don't come here for the wine list. You don't even come here for the beer list, unless you're a fan of PBR or Old Style. You come here for the thin crust Chicago Tavern style pizza. Oh, that and a huge basket of fried mushrooms with a delicious creamy garlic, dipping sauce. It's cash only, so beware. I always have an extra Benjamin in my wallet :-) not that I needed that much cash, two drinks, fried mushrooms, and a large pizza with many toppings ran us about 40 bucks.highly recommended for thin crust Chicago Tavern style pizza in the south Chicago area, especially if you have a layover or a late flight at Midway airport.

Delicious Chicago cracker thin crust pizza! Was looking forward to this for a long time, it did not disappoint! The sauce was tangy and sweet without being cloying. The cheese and toppings were fresh, the crust was the star of the pizza, perfectly light and crispy. I can't wait to come back!

Even if you've only heard about this place because of Dave Portnoy, you should definitely make the trip down to the South Side to try their thin crust pizza. Pizza takes around 20 mins to make, and the interior feels like a neighborhood bar and cozy familiar atmosphere. If you've felt like Home Run Inn is too buttery and chewy for you (don't get me wrong, I also like home run inn), you'll LOVE the texture and flavor of the pizza here. I'll definitely come back.Don't forget that they are cash only here!!

Normally this place is a 5 star visit. We came on Fathers Day 20 mins after they opened. We had to wait 10 minutes to place our order. Understandable with how full the place was. However, 1 hour and 50 mins after placing our order we observed 5 tables seated and ordered after us get their pizza's. The server told us that our pizza would be out in 10 minutes. Then 30 mins later it finally arrived. Food was great. If the other tables had not been served before us then this would have been a 5 star review.
