We had a beautiful afternoon visit with small plates of shared appetizers as we chatted after walking through the museum in the AM.Service on the patio was a bit pushy as they kept coming by and asking to take items before we were really finished and saying no didn't really apply, they removed items anyway. I could understand if they were closed but we were only approaching 2 PM and aware of time. Even more frustrating when they were still open inside.

An engagement party was the plan; a luncheon at Zinnia and then a museum tour. And it was absolutely fabulous! Wow, Zinnia--you out did yourself. The staff accommodated all our requests and even served dessert for us. They provided plates and flatware to create an ambience for this engagement party. They didn't have to do that. The chef checked on us regularly to make sure everything was up to par. And trust me, it was. Everyone ordered from a scaled down menu--but with nearly 30 people in our party, that was the best choice. Our options ranged from steak salad to curried sweet potatoes--something for everyone. This day was a core memory for the couple--and Zinnia helped to create a lifelong memory. Looking for a place to host your next event? Don't sleep on Zinnia--they will EXCEED your expectations.

Visited The Chrysler museum for an exhibit and missed lunch that day but it had smelled so wonderful that I made a point of going back just for the Zinnia Cafe!Cute indoor and outdoor dining areas, great service and believe they said that they change up the menu every couple of months. So there will probably be some basics that stay but something new to try each time too Ordered: Coastal Cobb Salad

I love that they have updated the restaurant in the Chrysler Museum to Zinnia! It's convenient, has indoor and outdoor seating and is very modern. I appreciated the clean bathrooms as well! The staff is always nice and it's a great place to have lunch or just have a coffee. We stopped in to have lunch while we were seeing the Paul McCartney exhibit. And then continued to see the new painting collection upstairs. They do have a seasonal menu so it could change what is available. The portions are large ( I took home half my burger ) and well put together. My burger was cooked perfectly and how I wanted it. My only complaint would be having to sit too close to strangers because they are so busy sometimes. But that's a good thing! Also I'm not a fan of the ranch dressing or ketchup. It was almost a hint of vinegar in the ranch and the ketchup was sweet. Can't wait to stop by again and try something else on the menu.

Zinnia is a fresh clean cafe space inside the Chrysler Museum (which is a free amazing museum btw). The menu here is not extensive, but solid consistent options for lunch or grab and go when at the museum or in the area. Here is what I personally like: there are gluten free options, a kids menu, it's very clean and the staff is attentive and kind. The soup rotates and you can get something from their grab n go, order take out or sit inside/outside.It can get super busy when there is an event or lecture so be mindful of that. There are dedicated bathrooms so you don't need to wander in the museum. My favorite is the chicken salad, my friend loves the duck grilled cheese and pickles!

Zinnia is a newly renovated restaurant and events space that has taken over the former Wisteria Restaurant inside the Chrysler Museum of Art.It opened on January 24th of this year and is operated by the TASTE Family of Businesses, which is known for their sandwich shops throughout Hampton Roads. A warm welcome is always received when entering the Chrysler Museum. A staff member is always there to hold the door open for me when entering and leaving. Zinnia is adjacent to the Huber Court in the lobby of the museum with its entrance over to the left. Its entrance dazzles the eyes with an attractive open air atmosphere enhanced by its artsy and upscale vibe. Their table settings are nicely presented.Their main indoor dining area has a capacity for 75 diners. In addition, there is also an outdoor patio and garden terrace area, which are sure to become more populated with diners as the weather warms up. A sign at the front entrance reads: "Please Visit Back Counter To Be Seated." A friendly staff member has greeted me at their back counter and quickly found a seat for me with each visit. A Grab & Go station is also located by their back counter.I have tried the following to date:POKE BOWL: Ahi Tuna, Avocado, Pickled Onions, Edamame, Carrots, English Cucumber, Sushi Rice, Sesame Teriyaki Sauce, and Spicy Mayo. This dish was listed under the Boards And Bowls section of their menu. I asked them to leave out the spicy mayo, as mayo is one condiment that does not agree with me. I love a good spicy tuna poke bowl, but I had to go without the spice I was craving, since it came with the mayo. The poke bowl was beautifully constructed and tightly packed. There was also some seaweed salad in the mix, a welcome addition not mentioned in their menu, The bowl was very filling, and I began to feel full about halfway through. Unfortunately, the sushi rice was ice cold, which disrupted the harmony and the flavors of the other ingredients. Sushi rice is best served as close as possible to room or body temperature. I have never had rice in any type of sushi or poke bowl dish that was quite this cold. As a result, I would be hesitant to order this one again. My Rating: 3 Stars. PEKING DUCK SALAD: Edamame, Honey Roasted Tomatoes, Crispy Potatoes, Carrots, Romaine,, and an Orange Ginger Vinaigrette. This dish was listed under the Soups and Salads section of their menu. I love Peking Duck and have never had it served in a salad format before. I had visions of large succulent slices of roasted and crispy skin-on duck mixed in with the other salad ingredients. What I got instead were a few thin and tiny slivers of meat in ragtag disarray with no crispy skins. I would have never guessed the meat was duck if it wasn't for the menu. What I mostly tasted were the other salad ingredients. A Google search on Peking Duck Salad revealed several recipes when I got home. Each one included large and crispy skin-on slices of roasted Peking style duck, along with ingredients such as Hoisin Sauce and Five Spice Powder, which were absent from the version served here.Based upon the recipes I found, the Peking Duck Salad I had here did not present the taste and appearance of an authentic and legitimate version of this dish. My Rating: 2 Stars. CHICKEN CAPRESE PANINI: All Natural Chicken, Fresh Mozzarella, Oven-Roasted Tomatoes, and Basil Pesto in a Ciabatta Roll. Served with Parmesan Fries. This dish was listed under the Handhelds section of their menu.I had much better luck with this one. The panini bread was delightfully crunchy, and all the ingredients in the sandwich came through nicely with a fresh and flavorful taste experience. The fries were a bit lackluster. My Rating: 4 Stars.FRESH BERRY TRIFLE: Shortcake Trifle and Triple Cream Mascarpone. The berries turned out to be a mx of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries. My eyes were craving a more distinct view of the different berries. Otherwise, their flavors in combination with the shortcake and creamy mascarpone came through nicely with a light, airy, and pleasant taste and texture. My Rating: 4.5 Stars.HOT CHOCOLATE: Steamed Milk & Dark Chocolate Syrup. My serving was a bit bland and lukewarm with a light and thin consistency that reminded me much more of cocoa. I prefer a steaming hot chocolate with a thicker consistency made from melted bits of solid chocolate for a richer and stronger chocolately taste. The dark chocolate syrup mix didn't quite do it for me. My Rating: 3 Stars.Zinnia is a welcome addition to the Chrysler Museum. Their service has been exceptionally friendly and attentive with each visit.Based upon three visits to date, I feel that their food overall needs to catch up with the quality of their service, atmosphere, and vibe, which I am hopeful will happen over time.In the meantime, my actual rating hovers over 3.5 stars, but is rounded down to 3 stars at this time. I wish them the best of success going forward.

Ambience is wonderful, beautiful and clean and bright. Decor cleanlines and artistic. Ambience is a 5. Patrons of the Chrysler Museum of Art seem to be the frequent diners here. Service is nice, friendly, feels exclusive (upscale). Service is a 5.You're greeted as soon as you walkIn. You're asked if you want indoor or outside seating - on a gorgeous 81 degree February day - it's a noBrainer to ask for outdoor seating. I ordered the Peking duck salad. Large portion. The duck was dry and cold (not even room temperature), seems like I got the last pickings around the carcass.the salad was wilted. Maybe days in the fridge? Food is def 3. Will be back hopefully for a better duck confit sandwich.

Was greeted by the staff as soon as we walked in with friendly smiles. I ordered the Chicken Caprese Panini. I considered it to be a good sized sandwich. The pesto was delicious, and the ingredients all tied together for a simple and tasty lunch. I shared the Coastal Cobb salad with my friends. We enjoyed the cranberry cheese that came with it and the colorful veggies that came with. The place was organized and clean. The decor is very much a minimalist designed style with neutral colors. It gives a nice modern feel. I kind of wished we ate outside because the outdoor eating area looks so beautiful surrounded by trees and foliage. I ended my meal with the Brownie Sundae with Vanilla ice cream. It was warm and big enough to share. I think this was the highlight of the whole meal.

Zinnia in the Chrysler Museum offers a lovely lunch both inside and outside on their veranda. The style is clean and elegant. The menu features a variety of interesting salads, boards, soup, bowls, and handhelds. The soup when we dined there was shrimp corn chowder. Beverages include both alcoholic and nonalcoholic. We enjoyed Louise's Chicken Salad, which was presented as a salad with a large amount of chicken salad with almonds, three small pieces of toasted bread, and fresh fruit--cantaloupe, honey dew, and strawberries. It was a refreshing meal and perfect for lunch. We also ordered a modified version of the house salad. We modified it due to food allergies. The staff and chef were excellent at handling the allergy-related changes. For dessert, we shared the brownie covered with vanilla ice cream. Delicious!!It's such a treat having a quality cafe to enjoy at the museum.
