Wydia's Bistro

I went here several months ago. The food was served buffet style and I was able to eat plenty of fried fish. The owner and wait staff greeted and made us feel welcome. The building is older and it reminds me of a buffet restaurant in the eighties but the prices are reasonable.

I popped by here while visiting a friend after their baby shower. When I arrived. I was immediately and warmly greeted, given a menu and shown the specials. Once I ordered my food I waited and saw how each person who came in was greeted the same way and how kind they were to customers. The staff knew the regulars and asked about their families even wishing one a happy birthday. Now the food! I ordered the fish and shrimp with potato salad and rice and gravy. The fish and shrimp were hot and fried to perfection. The rice was cooked well and the gravy seasoned quite well. The potato salad was flavorful. The whole meal reminded me of family southern cooking and was fantastic. I definitely will return.

We went for lunch on a Friday. There was 2 other tables there when we arrived so we got seated quickly but the Service was slow. They only had one server and she was very elder and hard of hearing and didn't move very fast, (even took a personal phone call while another guest had asked for a condiment before getting that for the guest which I thought was rude). It took about 40 min to get our order. My husband got the seafood special which was $24. It was the Fried shrimp, Fish, and scallops with 2 sides. The sides he said were delicious and very well seasoned. The scallops were small and lacked seasoning. The shrimp were tough. But the fish was very good. The same with my fish, very good. Shrimp a bit tough, a bit over cooked. The coleslaw and Mac salad tasted like what I buy from Food Lion. I wish I had gotten something cooked after the hubby said his was good and seasoned well. Probably won't be back. But glad we tried it at least once.

This was my first trip through Franklin, and Wydia's was an unplanned stop. The Yelp reviews (including the few negative ones) made us want to give Wydia's a try. So glad we did! We can certainly vouch for their fried selections: French fries, fried scallops would have left Chef Ramsay begging for more. Everything was served hot, fresh. You could taste the oil they used was fresh and clean. The Club Sub was a monster. We needed to pack up half to bring home. Potato salad tasted homemade. Fried apples was a sweet side that we split as a dessert. Food here is great. Portions are good. Service is friendly. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean and unpretentious.

The service was friendly and helpful, this was my first time coming to this restaurant and I'm so glad that I tried it, I ordered the chicken wings platter, everything was delicious, the best fried chicken I've had in years, I will definitely be coming back to try other menu items

Came here with my husband tonight and lived the music and feel. Food was delicious--I had a mixed fried seafood platter. The cook makes a mean catfish--no muddy river bottom flavor! My only request would be that they start making tartar sauce in house, because it is so delicious when homemade! Waitress was on it!

Food was great! I got turkey wings and rice. Good sized portions! Wife got seafood special and we both liked it. Food aside, I'd come just to hang out and listen to the music, it was great, need to get that playlist!

My husband and I visited this establishment this week and I can say that nothing impressed me. I am a very easy going individual and I NEVER complain. But after waiting 45+ minutes for food when we were the first and only customers in the restaurant around 11am. The waitress never checked back in until the food was ready. I told my husband several times to pay for our drinks and we just leave, but finally they brought the food out. We had the food to go initially because we were taking it home, but honestly I was ready to walk out and find a drive thru after such a long wait. When we got to the car we checked the food and it wasn't even warm!!! I love supporting small local businesses, but this is not one I would ever revisit.

OK, I can't really give a review of the food at this spot in Franklin since we never got any food. We showed up early (around 5:00 pm) to avoid crowds and the place was not overly crowded. We ordered some iced tea and them made our meal order. That was the last we saw of our server for about an hour. The host (not masked) stopped by and gave us a refill and a different server asked us if we were ok. At 1 1/2hours we walked out. Not sure if this place will make it if they can't get food to their customers. By the way no apology, no offer of bread or salad because kitchen was behind. They just seemed not to really care. We also witnessed a handicapped gentleman get seated and he didn't even get a beverage for over 30 minutes...good luck Wydia.To be clear 1 hour 30 minutes is not an unrealistic expectation even in a very busy restaurant And the guy in the wheelchair Did wait 30 minutes

Excellent new restaurant in Franklin. Took a wedding party and everything went well and everyone enjoyed their food. Service was excellent. I had the grilled shrimp and scallops with cole slaw and green beans. Shrimp and scallops were seasoned well and the green beans were good old southern green beans.
