White Marlin Inn

At a little over 300$ for two nights, it would've been better to spend the extra money to go somewhere a little nicer. If you just plan on sleeping here it's not a big deal but the walls are paper thin so you hear everything that happens outside. The parking lot is very small but a very reasonable walking distance from the boardwalk. I took plenty of pictures to share because the previous pictures were misleading as to what the rooms and area looked like.

DO NOT GO HERE. It was okay until it wasn't. Absolutely do not spend the night. This is genuinely scary at night time. There were people screaming and banging on the walls the entire night. The doors don't shut all the way so the crackheads that were pimping and doing hard drugs could easily break in. For your own safety, please don't go here. Also, there are roaches and mold, and the hot water doesn't work. Only plus was the office lady was nice.

Save Your Money!! This place has to be one of the worst locations in Va Beach..I reserved a room only to have to stand outside the office for 20 mins because the individual that was supposed to be behind the desk was in a room..After several call attempts and banging on the door , a nosey tenant who obviously lives there come out asking why am I banging on the door..then proceeds to tell me give the person that supposed to be in the office a few mins..then she proceeds to walk across the lot, knock on the door and some lady comes out with phone in hand stating she didn't receive any calls..She should be fired without hesitation..Find another location if you don't want to deal with ignorance and extreme lack of professionalism..Housekeeper also cleaning room with music blasting 9 in the am then proceeds to curse someone out at the top of lungs on her phone..absolutely disgusting sgusting location

I really love the retro-ness of staying in a motel. The summer after high school me and a girlfriend hitched all around Texas and on our budget these places were all we could afford. Good times!I found White Marlin because I wanted something close to the beach but pretty affordable. I knew, unlike some reviewers, that if you pay $$ when every other hotel is $$$ or more that you aren't getting luxury. Give me a BREAK. Having said that, this motel is so cool! The decor was fine and obviously refurbished. The faux wood floor was cute and the bright orange accents went great with my beachy mood!This place has a small fridge, microwave, every cable channel known to man, huge, new TV's and amazing air conditioning. I slept like a baby!The only thing that is kind of hit or miss is the front desk. They are there about 50% of the time and I'm being generous. That means if you need a replacement key, wifi password, etc. you'll have to wait until the wander back around. Having said that, there were no elevators and they helped me get my stuff upstairs so they're awesome when they're around!Other than that, this place was amazing, I had such a nice time here!

You get what you pay for. We did not expect a great experience, since the price was ~$80/night (for a weeknight) but hey, it is 1.5 blocks from the beach. If you all you want is a cheap, somewhat sketchy place to sleep so that you can wake up and walk to the beach, this is your place.My mother and my boyfriend and I booked two rooms. The hotel manager said she was so sorry but that we could not have rooms next to each other. Didn't matter to us, we said, so she gave us end units: one upstairs, one downstairs. We double checked they were smoke free rooms as I'm sensitive to smoke and she assured us yes. We checked out both rooms to decide where my mom would be most comfortable. Both smelled moldy and smokey, and seemed even worse once the A/C was turned on (my guess is they don't replace the air filters very often here). Oh, and that A/C unit is SO loud you won't be able to sleep with it on. So prepare to be hot.Our room had a fly infestation so we spent ~20 minutes swatting at them with our flip flops before going to bed. Mom's room had a dead cockroach and didn't have any toilet paper. Not one speck. Since the manager had already gone to bed for the evening (we came in late), we gave her a roll of ours from the 1.5 rolls in our room. Our room didn't have a trash can. There were also bathroom and cabinet doors that didn't close all the way, a strange layout for the minifridge/microwave that blocks you from using the sink, and a broken handle for the shower. Side tables were sticky. Like really sticky. This place overall needs a lot of work to fix up and get decent. Oh, and the room next to us was vacant the entire time we were there (only one night) so we could have been next to each other anyway.Why is it not a 1 star review? It's not the WORST place I've ever stayed in. And this: The sheets were clean, and the mattress was VERY comfortable - in both rooms. Also, the manager let us park our car in their lot while we were at the beach even after checkout.

EWWW do you really want me to review this place? My sister, great niece and I had originally booked a room at the Belmont a block away. After driving 4 1/2 hours from Maryland, we arrived at the Belmont and were told we did not have a room because guests had trashed it the night before. Say what?!! I booked that room two months ago! That's not our problem- find us a room! So the manager found us a room at the Economy Inn. After opening the door, we were greeted with a STRONG smell of stale cigarette smoke, or was that pot?..mixed with mildew and mold. Horrible! We turned on the air conditioner, hoping that would help. The floor was grungy and the bedspreads looked like they had never been washed. We were creeped out! There were long hairs on the bathroom floor and in the shower/bathtub. The bath towels looked like face cloths; thin like paper.Needless to say none of us showered that night. I was cold because I refused to use the bedspread as a blanket. This place needs a good cleaning and a lot of renovating!!! No I will not return.

I can't believe I have to say this, but seriously, thank you so much for absolutely nothing! Your kindness and sweetness really shine through in the abysmal room you provided. I mean, seriously, have you ever heard of cleanliness? The stench in that room was beyond unbearable, and the sheets... don't even get me started on the sheets! I've stayed in countless motels, but this one definitely takes the cake for being the worst. It was like the room hadn't been cleaned in ages, with spider webs and dust webs covering every inch. Absolutely nothing about it was pleasing. So, congratulations on making me lose money, all because you couldn't be bothered to do your job and keep the room clean for your guests. Bravo!

Bed bugs it had a righteous smell con webs cabinets painted shut dusty hotter then santan toe nails we spotted at least 5 bed bugs n the shower

I stayed at this Inn and its nothing like its being promoted. Their are cockroaches everywhere. There was 4 in my room and a huge cockroach found in my friends room.

First off, this is a MOTEL and it's disgusting. The pictures on hotels.com are extremely misleading. The place is SO dirty. Mattresses had bedbugs. When I reported it to the office, the staff picked them up and said "No, this is either dirt or cigarette ashes, not bedbugs". HOW IS THAT BETTER?! The stove and the toilet didn't work. There was a huge hole in the wall. THE WORST! And....they didn't wanna give a refund when I left immediately!! ZERO stars needs to be an option.
