Whalebone Seafood Market & Takeout

On vacation and decided to grab some take out blue crabs at the last minute. Called and they answered quickly. The person that answered was extremely helpful in giving me recommendations. Decided to go with 2 dozen crabs, some clusters of crab legs, cornbread, and corn. We ordered for pick up. Order was ready at pickup time no issues- got in and out quickly. The crabs were decent compared to Maryland crabs. A few were light, but they did the trick. Cornbread was delicious!Corn- I wasn't a fan of the corn, but that could be because it was a takeout order and cooled a bit before eating. Overall pleasantly pleased and will be back!

This place rocks! We got 2 dozen blue crabs, 3 pounds of King crab legs, fresh tuna streaks, their garlic butter and 2 bags of hush puppies. Oh, can't forget about the key lime pie! Awesome meal for the family, it was all so fresh and delicious, saving this place for future trips! I wish we found it sooner on our trip because we would have been regulars all week. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They had all the drinks and fixings you need for your meal including apparel.

We were having a boil for our family on the 4th, I called in the morning and ordered 3lbs of shrimp and some snow crab clusters. The lady on the phone was very friendly and helpful. I went in and picked up the seafood at my pick up time and everything was ready to go when I was there, I even added some more crab legs to my order and they were happy to help me. The store was very clean and they had a wide variety of fish and shellfish. Everyone inside was very nice and friendly, I will definitely come here again.

I preordered a steam dinner of shrimp and clams. I forget which one it was, but it was delicious! The last ordered can be pick up at 5:45, so make sure you order by 5! I will say the dinner I ordered said it was enough for 4 people, but it really was not enough LOL! They also had a great selection of fresh fish, if you want to take anything home to cook. We will be back!

We investigated several seafood stores before we made our purchases here. The building is clean and bright. The thing that hits you when you walk in is that it doesn't stink! Some of the other seafood shops were not like this. The staff were also friendly and seemed genuinely eager to serve. The seafood is displayed over ice and behind glass and looks fresh and moist. We were certainly not disappointed when we got it home and made a huge paella with it. The scallops and shrimp were so fresh and tasty. The bag of 50 clams were awesome, only about 2 or 3 failed to open. Bypass all other seafood stores and get all your OBX seafood here. Hit me up for my recipe.

We got a dozen steamed crabs and 2 pounds of shrimp. We got extra heavy for their house seasoning.

Ordered the Buffalo City (added 2 lbs shrimp) and a 1/2 bushel of crabs. Easily fed 15 people and had leftovers. Food was great. Place was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Order was ready in-time. Will return next visit to the OBX!

I was so happy we bought a seafood meal from whalebone. I loved the concept that you could get a steam bucket meal to take home that was already cooked. They have set meals but we decided to create our own. The only thing I wanted they did not have was raw oysters but they called ahead and let me know that they were unavailable. The website is very easy to use and you can choose your day and time to pick up your food. We ordered clams, scallops, crab, lobster, and tuna with no spice. I also got the trio of sauces which were really good. We added corn bread and desserts to our meal. The banana pudding and peanut butter pie were very delicious. I would suggest getting the crab paper because it may clean up much easier.

This place is great.....very clean store, employees are super helpful and the food and prices are great too. We had the best crab leg and shrimp platter and some awesome trout too......highly recommended

Had an amazing shrimp and crab leg boil crab legs were massive seasoned to perfection. Went back and got the premade crab cakes for another amazing dinner. to top it off the Keylime pie was 10 out of 10.
