Mooooo! This place has cows on the property. Like, a large green field and cows. It gives you the feeling of being out in the country, but all the tourist stuff is just down the street. So, if you're like me and you want a countryside get away, but still need the necessities of modern entertainment and conveniences, this place is for you. I admit that I love the idea of bed and breakfasts, but I loathe the prospect of being stuck in a house with other people. Strange, right? This place has two separate cottages right beside the main house.... I stayed in a cottage, and they will bring breakfast right to your door in the morning. Yummy eggs benedict when I was there. One cottage has a small kitchenette - microwave and sink. It was even stocked with cereal, milk and OJ.There were rocking chairs on the porch and I enjoyed just sitting there in the evening, having some drinks and watching the fireflies. It's very lovely and peaceful. I'm going again for a couple of days in September. Can't wait!

This was the perfect respite for a long weekend getaway with my girlfriends. War Hill Inn offered proximity to the spas, restaurants and shops, at the same time as an open country ambience and cozy homelike feel where you can stretch your legs. Will and Bill are like a warm glass of milk with their much welcomed Southern hospitality. Breakfast was a gastronomic treat with strata, homemade applesauce, sausage, berries and biscuits. Will even catered to the gluten-sensitive in our group. Now that's customer service!!! My favorite memories include sitting out on the bench looking up at the starry sky (never seen so many stars) chatting with my gals with wine in hand while black cows looked on. My friends and I shared a suite with 3 beds, which was perfect. It was clean, quiet and the hosts were kind, knowledgeable and welcoming. I'd recommend this for families, couples and groups. This is hands down the best B&B I've ever stayed.

We adored this place and the people we met here. Both owners and guests. Truly a rare opportunity to enjoy the fruits of a multigenerational family's effort to create a lovely and restorative haven. Website does a good job of describing the physical offerings so I won't duplicate that here. Food and rooms actually better than expected. Good value for price. Only difficulty came when it was time to leave. Wish we could have stayed longer.

This place is absolute amazing! It's quaint and impeccably maintained. It has a wonderful colonial feel. The grounds are stunning, and it's such a peaceful getaway. It's in the perfect location, far enough away from Williamsburg to feel like an escape, but close enough to get to the sites quickly. Gary (the inn keeper while we were there) was fantastic. This is a must stay place! Sad to leave!

My husband and I and our two adult children recently stayed at the War Hill Inn and loved every minute of it! We came for a quick visit to Colonial Williamsburg and wanted a unique B & B experience, instead of the touristy hotels and vacation condos. We stayed in the Washington Cottage, which is just steps to the main house for breakfast. We loved our cottage, with charming period decor, and had plenty of space with our 2 bedrooms and large bathroom. It was a wonderful experience to stay on a farm with all the cows, flowers and trees in bloom, and super quiet and private location. Will was an excellent host, making us the most delicious and very filling breakfasts each morning, telling us all about the area, and giving great recommendations for dinners! Thank you Will, we are so happy that we found you and thank you for taking such good care of us. The War Hill Inn was everything that we had hoped for and we highly recommend it to all!!

We had a group of five and rented the Washington cottage. It was lovely and spotless. There are cows on the property and an affable golden retreiver which makes it all the more bucolic. Its quiet, relaxing and picturesque. The hosts are knowledgeable and outgoing. Highly recommend this to those who relish nature and value peace and quiet.

Entering the gates of War Hill is like walking through a portal to the past. This home is a replica of a bygone era where simplicity and the kindness of the innkeepers make this working farm a piece of perfection. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere, and leave this respite from the 21st century to those who would enjoy it. We were lucky to be staying at War Hill when the calves were been weaned from the mothers and we could enjoy their company as they gently bellowed for their morning feed. Pure joy!

Clean, comfortable, and quiet. Fabulous food, friendly owner, and family oriented. The War Hill B&B was a wonderful change from chain hotels. A couple of people whined in their review about cows waking them up: ITS A FARM! The website makes it clear that the B&B is located on A FARM! Frankly, we were no the least bit disturbed by the cows and what we did hear was a definite improvement over traffic noise downtown. Another whiner complained that Will (the owner and host) was not around much. We found him charming, talkative and an encyclopedia of local history and current offerings. We found that he was around just enough to serve breakfast, chat with the guests and went back into the kitchen before he became intrusive to us or the other guests. Will we stay there again? You bet. Will we recommend War Hill Inn B&B to friends? Absolutely.
