Very good food. A nice variety of choices. Friendly staff. The catfish dinner was really good.

We happened in this gem of a place for a late lunch and it was FANTASTIC! The hamburger steak is great but the candied yams are the BEST-taste like my grandmas used to at Thanksgiving!!! It's a "hole in the wall" place but the food is top shelf!!

Just absolutely horrible. Put me in a restroom for 2 days. There is nothing nice about this place. I thought it would be down home kind of cooking but it's absolutely disgusting

Order a pitcher and hot dogs with friends, sit at the bar and solve the world's problems with Billy the owner. 'Nuff said. Ambiance, folks, ambiance.

I ate lunch here about 3 weeks ago and had a club sandwich. What a delicious combination of chicken salad on the club sandwich. Yummy. I live in Chowan County and when I am near Chowan University I eat at Walter's. The place is clean and the food is always fresh. The staff is friendly too. Just a nice experience for lunch.

When I first moved to the area this was the first place I wanted to eat. I loved the look of a small town grill. You typically find the best food in these establishments. I went twice. The first time for the hot dogs that are the talk of the town. I found them to be nothing special certainly undeserving of the reputation. I went the second day to try the special. I think it was Salisbury steak. At that point I felt I did step back in time to the days of TV dinners in the metal trays. The old grease of years gone by make you stick to the seats with every movement. The owner did talk to us a bit but it felt more like a intrusion than welcoming chatter. Who are you ..why are you here..where did you move..why... I have not been back nor do I see myself returning.

Well, I cannot say what Walter's is like now, but when I was in school here in the mid-70's it was one of the very, very few places you could get something to eat. They had great hot dogs and burgers. If I remember correctly, Walt kept a 22 pistol tucked into the waist of his pants.

The people were friendly enough but we had a few hiccups. The special was delicious but the other food was just average. There were a good variety of sides that seemed home cooked. A fine stop but nothing fancy.

It's been a few years but this is a popular little restaurant located in Murfreesboro. Offering up burgers and the like fare, not really a veg friendly establishment. It's great if you like greasy and fried southern foods though.

Overall this place has cheap diner food. A couple of things do stand out though- the hot dogs are awesome, and the desserts are usually homemade, and very good. The breakfast buffet is also pretty good. What really makes it is the atmosphere- you feel like you are stepping back in time at least 50 years. The service is friendly and fast, and the stuff hanging on the walls is the real thing- not the fabricated fake antiques that you see in a Cracker Barrel. Definitely worth a visit or two, just to get a feel of local culture.
