So I thought this was going to be an in-eventful zoo experience when I read they charged, but how many zoos can you go to where the escort is a Peacock?Right then I knew this experience was going to be different. And they did not let me down. They had animals that you don't normally see at a zoo, like the Bongo, or Bison, and a Watusi longhorn. Now we went on a chilly day and most of the animals were hibernating but no worries after we walked around the entire park, we just went to the administrator office and asked for comp tickets to return on a warmer day.I really wanted to see lol the animals but there were a lot of empty displays. I do recommend you download the app so you don't miss anything and also it looks like they are expanding. This is the first zoo I been to were they had a petting zoo as an attraction. It was a great experience! Until next time..another not so Fatboy Adventure.

This was my 2nd visit to the zoo with my parents, husband, and daughter. And it was as good as I remembered it. Parking is free. Admission was around $17, but they do offer AAA and military discounts. They have a wonderful array of animals - lions, tigers, and bears...giraffes, zebra, rhino, and so much more. Peacocks are wondering about and there's a pretty cool reptile/amphibian exhibit. The zoo is spread out but not huge. The parking lot was completely full but the zoo didn't feel crowded. If you don't go to a live show I would say you need a minimum of 2 hours to go through the zoo. They have places to purchase food but they don't check your backpacks so you can easily bring in drinks/snacks of your own if you want to save some cash.

We have a zoo membership so we come every few months. Love the fact that it's a simple path to follow so that you don't miss any of the animals. Always enjoyable. We saw the new cheetahs today. Their enclosure is a bit small but I guess they had to do that they could. Live animal demonstration was cool at the new animal clinic

This is a great place for everyone. I have a membership and visit multiple times a month just to go on a brisk walk with my toddler. It's a well designed zoo and the gardens are beautiful. I think the best part is their effort to educate visitors on the efforts to rebuild species populations and care for each individual animal and their specific needs. The volunteers their have an impressive amount of knowledge and I learn something new every visit. I also love the member exclusives, like events and special offers or discounts. During event nights the parking lot can fill up, so go early. It's super easy to get to and conveniently located. Love this zoo and the work that everyone does there!

As a Norfolk native, I've seen this zoo change so much. When I was a kiddo, it was perfect (in my little kid eyes). As I got older, it seemed to diminish somewhat...it was the sad Norfolk zoo where the prairie dogs died (sorry for the downer downlow) and overall appearance was deteriorating. However! Over the last few years, there have been awesome changes to the zoo. From the landscape to the exhibits, and of course, the animals - it's lovely. If you have a little one, especially if you live fairly close, it's imperative that you get a membership. It's $95 a year for 2 adults, and additional guest and however many children there are under 18. We visit several times a month and sometimes I go just to let the little run around freely. In the warmer months, there is a water fountain area for the kids to run around in. I haven't actually experienced going yet with my guy, but once the weather gets warmer, it's just another activity to add to our weekly agenda.

This place could definitely benefit from a major overhaul. More animals, more indoor spaces. The snake, etc building isn't that exciting, they could use some additionals! We went on a Monday before Thanksgiving and it was absolutely dead- we only saw three other groups. There was no food places open, and the gift shop attendant was fairly non-existent, forcing us to wait at the register for at least 5 minutes before she came out of the back!

It's been a while, it was great weather decided to stop by the Zoo. The area has good access and good parking and reasonably priced. It's a good sized zoo with a variety of animals from China, Africa and Australia. I was told by one of the attendants it has been upgraded over the years. So take the kids and enjoy, oh by the way if you get hungry they have great Hot Dogs! Enjoy

This zoo isn't the biggest but the grounds are beautiful and the animals are spread out. It's really clean and the staff is really nice. The price could be a little cheaper BUT since it goes for the animals I'm ok with that.

They were definitely on the small side, seemed like an older zoo, but I liked how close it was to our house. The prices you couldn't beat and it was a good experience exert time we went there. I just wish we got to see the new exhibit that was being worked on when I moved away. That seemed like it was going to come out really awesome

Lot and lot of animals. Nice design and placing animals. If you do go then go late around lunch time or past it cause animal will be awake and move around. There is part u can touch little wallaby. When I was there, they don't have people to watch out so I can't go in.
