Awesome little family owned butcher shop. Fresh beef, pork, elk, venison, bison etc...Always friendly, and excellent customer service.Thus far, I've purchased some of their ground bison, fresh bacon, turkey, and pork.Holidays coming up and you want something fresh not frozen???They also take orders for fresh Turkey, I ordered a 14-16 lb bird and got a 16lb lovely Turkey. I adore this place. They do have sales, but they also sale wild meats or meats you can't find at your local supermarket. And here is a little secret from me......they carry North Carolina BBQ and Virginia Beaches one of a kind favorite, Speedy's Hot sauces here as well! Which is another nice place to shop! Just go by and look around, you may find something your looking for. But they do close at 5pm these days!

They have a very good selection of cuts and different meats. I wanted a smaller brisket than the one he had in the counter and he went in the back to find me one. He also had cooking tips and a bunch of good rubs and bbq sauces/marinades.Update. I have since cooked said brisket. It came out perfect. This most likely had to do with the cut of brisket since it was my first.

The workers there are really friendly and nice. They had reasonable prices and quickly helped us and answered all of our questions.My only reason for not loving this butcher shop is because their substitution options are just more ground chuck. That's very misleading when on the phone we asked if we could substitute meats since I don't do pork in our meat pack. The answer was yes, but when we called back to place our order, it was only ground chuck could be used as a substitute. That's not much of an option as we were led to believe. Regardless, we got our meat pack for 2. We also ordered our chicken cut up, but got a whole chicken instead in our order, which I didn't realize until I went to get it out of the freezer and use it. I still used the chicken for ramen stock, but I know what we asked for.For what we want, this butcher shop isn't for us. For those who either want 3 lbs or so of ground chuck for substitution or don't need to substitute anything, this place is great for others. I'm glad we went there. They also had really amazing flank steak that we used for fajitas. I would say if we were at Hilltop and needed or wanted just regular meat, we might come back, but for now, we get our meat packs with substitutions at another butcher. I am not knocking their choice for what you can substitute because it's their business and their choice, but we just needed more accommodations and choice. I would still recommend this business to my friends and family.

I've been to the Village Butcher Shop many times, and its always been perfect. Excellent selection of meat, and a pleasant, honest owner. We have tried nearly all of the meats out of the case and its all been delicious. I especially like the bulk sausage.My latest trip was for a large Beef Tenderloin. I wasn't sure what to do with it, so I called and talked to the owner for a while about how to prep it. In the end, he did it for me prior to arrival. The cut was perfection and said best by my guests - "This might be the best cut of meat I have ever eaten." There wasn't a knife used around the table we devoured 5+lbs of Beef Tenderloin (aka - a log of filet mignon).PS - This review isn't a response to anyone - but I happened to glance at other reviews... people with 1 hateful review on Yelp should have their reviews hidden until they opt to actually contribute to the platform in a meaningful manner.

This place is amazing, you will always get great cuts of meat. Each pork shoulder that I have smoked from this place came with bone removed and a nice 1/2-3/4 inch fat cap that needed zero trimming. Each shoulder fell apart when taking off the grill. Went in the other day to get some baby back ribs and he only had one on display after the gentleman in-front of me bought two. I asked "do you have anymore in the back" the owner responded " no, but I have 80 coming in tomorrow. How many do you need" I said " 3 sir" asked when I would like to pick them up and I responded as soon as you open, he replied " I'll have them ready for you at 8am sharp with membrane removed". The best service you will find, is the meat more expensive than at a grocery store? Yes it is but the quality and service make it absolutely worth every penny.

Excellent quality meats and great service. Have gotten steaks (tomahawk, NY Strip, etc), a turkey for Thanksgiving, and even bones for my dogs there. Every item cooks up beautifully (well, except for the dog bones!), and tastes delicious!

We're visiting family in the area and decided to make a brisket. Found Village Butcher Shop on Yelp and gave them a call to confirm that they had the correct size brisket. Most butcher shops have the full 15 lb brisket but nothing smaller, Village Butcher had an 11 lb brisket. Headed to the shop and found it to be clean and bright, with a large display case full of options. The shop owner was pleasant and professional. We got the brisket and added 4 lbs of burger meat.We taste tested the burger meat vs some store bought that we had and obviously everyone preferred the flavor and texture of the Village beef.The true test came the next day with the brisket. First time making the recipe and it called for 6.5 hours in the oven. Completely covered in foil, so we had no idea how it was going. It came out fantastic, super tender with great flavor!Village is worth returning to!

I cannot believe how I was just treated over the phone when trying to order a prime rib from your location. We are locals and have ordered from this location for years. The gentleman on the phone who always takes orders hung up the phone on me he said he was too busy Saturday and Sunday to complete my order and hung up. Very disappointed.

In times like this (pandemic) people don't care to build relationships with their butchers, local farmers, etc. if it wasn't for them and being able to trust we are not getting food from a big plant where we don't know if anyone is positive for COVID or not.
