By far my favorite pho place ever. The food is always fast, hot, and fresh. My strawberry smoothie is always made perfectly! The meat never has an old or leftover taste, I absolutely love it. I always have the same server when I come which I believe to be the owner. He's such a sweet guy and always says "see you tomorrow" which is funny because I always want to go back the next day. It's such a small, cute, and quiet restaurant and such a peaceful place to enjoy your food. Every time I go I get the same thing which is a strawberry smoothie, the fried spring rolls, and the #9 pho with extra cilantro.

The most important thing for me as far as pho goes is the broth. The broth here is way too clear and MSG-flavored. I can tell the broth was not boiled down from hours of boiling bones. Then the portion is so small, as almost just one-biter. Lastly the condiment came with a piece of long hair.

I have been to Vietnam a few times and one things I can say about this restaurant is that it is as authentic as you can get to the real thing. I was impressed by the menu. I got the number 9. I like fatty cuts of beef which give the pho great flavor. The service was good also. We were greeted and seated promptly. The restaurant was not busy at all which was surprising being that the food is so good. I recommend this place !!!!

My lunchtime craving was for a Bahn mi while leaving an appointment today. I recently saw a review for Vietnam 81, so there is no time like the present. I am on a search for the BEST Bahn Mi. HOWEVER, the nice owner informed me that he no longer sells them. Get this...at the request of another Vietnamese restaurant within 1 mile of Vietnam 81. He politely directed me to THE OTHER VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT! APPARENTLY, the other restaurants were in the area prior to VIETNAM 81 and did not want the competition, and he obliged. With that, I asked him to suggest a meal for me, and so he did. I can not remember the name of this noodle dish, but it was scrumptious and delicious!Service was not too long to wait as a good meal does take time. I sat and enjoyed a glass of cold ice water. The ambiance of the restaurant is nothing to fancy, clean tables clean condiments bottles and plants adorn the window. #SEE YOU TOMORROW#!!When my meal arrived, it was a feast for the eyes, as I couldn't wait to dig in. Frash grilled marinated chicken sliced, cut cucumbers carrots, and fried rolls that are also in the menu. With rice vinegar to top off. I was offered Sriracha to top off my meal. The simple act of kindness from this gentleman will take me back when I am in the area again.

Pho on point- small bowl loaded with the collagen broth I needed after a migraine attack this week. Weather-32degrees on Mon Sat 65 degrees.The owners are from Arlington, Va so they definitely knew the Vietnamese community & spots there. I am a fan.

My first Pho restaurant in Portsmouth, VA.It was a disappointment. The first taste for me is the "naked broth," without adding any side sauces or spices; sad to say it was not flavorful or does not even take me back home to memory lane.The Vietnamese ice coffee was mainly bitter the most even if there was mixed of condensed milk & sugar. I also found some piece of plastic that came out of the drink when I was sipping; I did not finish the coffee.Showed it to the cashier and he was kind to not charge me even if I insisted to pay.The location is convenient for me to go to but I definitely won't be returning and will be exploring to find a better Pho restaurant while I'm here.

I visit Vietnam 81 for lunch at least once a week and sometimes even more. It is the best pho I have ever had and it's not even close. I don't live in Portsmouth but any time I want pho, I make the drive out here and it's always worth it. Plus the coffee helps me get through the rest of the work day. Khoi is great and always in a good mood and makes the experience enjoyable. He always makes sure to provide the best service and is very attentive and personable. If you are ever craving good, authentic pho, look no further than Vietnam 81!See you tomorrow!

Great tasting, fresh food. You get good portios for the price. The staff is very friendly and the service was great. In my opinion, this is the best pho restaurant in the area! I wish they were open a little later as it is sometimes hard to get there before they close.
