Vang's Sushi

This will be the spot of the summer. It's a chill sushi and drinks place. Sometimes you're just in the mood for a few rolls and some drinks; and not a whole fancy sit down. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Inside there are tables, bar and single window seats for those eating alone. Outside they have water bowls for dogs. It just opened so it is always packed with a 30-45 min average wait time on food. It was almost a 2 hour wait for a table. However, they have great drinks and they accommodated our wait time with free espresso shots. The seemed well staffed and provided great service. The only thing I was upset about was our server forgot to refill our waters. I've been a long time fan of Vang's sushi food truck so I'm glad they finally opened a brick and mortar. Do I even need to talk about the sushi? It's bomb! Everything on the menu is delicious! I know they just opened and still working out a lot of things but I'm sure this will be here for a long time.

You will find them popped up around Virginia Beach 757 area like I did. They offer a food truck as well. I had been searching for a while and was thrilled to finally catch up with them. I tried two different dishes. Mr. Unagi and SayNoelmore. Both were superb. Also super owners that came over to chat me up, Super guys, I think they may be brothers.Follow them on their social media platform for their schedule.

My employer has the Vang's food truck come on site for lunch sometimes. I've yet to submit a review, and always check to see how I thought the food was. It's crazy that I am coming to the realization that the food, just isn't memorable. Its not terrible, and not spectacular, it's "ok".Today I got:Cucumber salad, fried rice and, spicy crab roll. Cucumber salad: NOT.. sorry not sorry. This is sliced cucumber with a splash of vinegar and a handful of sesame seeds. There was little to no flavor at all. I added soy sauce to give it something, but it just wasn't that great. Fried rice: Was interesting! there was chunks of ground beef, green onions, peas & carrots. Looked very promising, but lacked flavor. It seemed oily because of the beef, but the rice itself was a little dry. Peas & carrots seemed old. Spicy crab roll: Stick to what you know. This roll never disappoints, I just wish the pieces were bigger. I taste mostly siracha, again it could use more flavor. I will be sticking with the sushi from now on.

So I've been following them around for a while now and was so happy to hear they were at Vibrant Shore Brewing on the oceanfront. It was a beautiful Friday evening, hubby and the little one were with me. I decided to get the Great Bambino. Hubby ordered a cucumber salad and the Marty McFly. The Bambino was delicious! I chose this roll because I saw chili and garlic oil. I was hoping for a bit more punch with the spice but it was still yummy. Of course, I tasted hubby's and it was also very yummy! The cucumber salad could have used a bit more rice wine vinegar but other than that it was wonderful. The rolls were a bit pricey compared to others, but I will definitely come back soon to try other items on the menu.

Weather this past Saturday was blissful - which called for family time @ Vibrant Shore brewing. Vang's has a trailer here and they are open every day except Monday. We had just spent a couple of hours walking around the aquarium and were famished by 1pm, when they opened.We opted for 3 rolls to share - shrimp tempura, California and another roll I can't recall the name of (something like Vu Tang?). In any case, the rolls I tried had no texture, which was such a weird experience. I didn't try the 3rd roll, but the Cali and Shrimp tempura were a mouth full of mush. No cucumber crunch. No tempura crunch. The rice was way overcooked.The flavor on the tempura roll was good, but I couldn't stomach the texture and only ended up eating a bite or two and ended up buying the brewery's popcorn. I hate to say it, but we were both pretty disappointed, considering the cost.

If you're craving sushi do yourself a favor and check out Vang's Sushi, you won't regret it!! I would rate them 10 stars if I could, they are that good! We've had the pleasure of eating Vang's a few times now. We've caught them at Commonwealth Brewing in Virginia Beach and COVA in Norfolk. They are great at keeping their social media updated with their weekly schedule which I really appreciate. I've found the best way to keep up with them is through Instagram.Their sushi is so fresh and the portions are a good size. And that FRIED RICE!! We tend to over eat because my husband and I have to each get a roll and then get the fried rice to split. My favorite roll has been the Sunny D which had shrimp tempura, crab salad, mango, salmon, avocado, wasabi Mayo, eel sauce, scallions, masago and sesame seeds. I was a little disappointed when they didn't have it during our last visit, but I'm sure that was only the case to make room for new tasty rolls! Their menu seems to rotate so if you see something you want to try on their social media, RUN! We love Vang's and I know we aren't the only ones. When Vang's is at a brewery, the brewery seems to be much busier than usual. We highly recommend!!

I had my first meal which was not to mt liking. Spicy beef, it was ground beef with frozen veggies (carrots, green beans, peas). It was not something I would reorder.

Great food truck. My nephew and I grabbed some food while drinking at commonwealth brewery. The food was so good it made me miss my ring camera alert and now my wife has been gone for two hours spending my hard earned money.... not cool. But at least my nephew appreciates me. And we both appreciate Vangs! Recommend!

Today I have my first sushi experience at Vang's and it was amazing. The owner Noel was able to accommodate my allergies and my preference of seafood. And when I tell you they went above and beyond they truly did. I recommend anybody who wants a true sushi experience to give them a try. I will be back.

my dad offered to take me to this "cool sushi truck for lunch" on fathers day so i accepted his offer and what i got was nothing but amazing. the sushi rice i noticed was specifically well done and every roll was perfect. Also since i got the spicy salmon, they didnt overdo it or underdo it with the sauce. I will be going here again for sure in my week of vacation in virginia.
