On a journey from DC to Southern Maryland there are few bright spots. It's a desolate and depressing drive plagued by gas stations and roadside "local flavor for sale" shops. Yes, these include a couple selling authentic Amish-ware. When I finally come over the hill, exited California (Maryland) into Lexington Park, I was completely relieved. However, mid-exhale, what did me eyes spy... The cutest little shop called Twist. Wine and Spirits. Excellent!I immediately pulled a u-turn and swung into the lot. Inside, little alcohol mecca... If you're into the ale, this is the place to go. They have an extensive collection and the majority of it is chilled already. I would highly recommend a stop into this new little gem to anyone in the area whether you're on a weekend trip to the Chesapeake or a local, Trust me, you'll come away with something pleasing.

This is a neat liquor store! There is s huge walk-in cooler for the beer; however, the variety isn't what you'd expect with a room that size. The staff are friendly too!

I give them five stars because, for the area, they're pretty great. Twist might not be the place for you if you're looking for a specific wine, but if you go in with just an idea of what you want and are open to finding something interesting, this is the place for you. Their location is easy to find, they're clean, and all the employees I've dealt with are friendly and helpful. They've got a decent selection of "classic" beers, along with a bunch that I'd never heard of before. They also have a section of wines from local wineries, which I love to peruse (if you like the taste of the wine, try looking up the winery and seeing if you can take a tour!) and lots of unique drinks (interesting bottles/labels/etc). There's a whole shelf of chocolate wines, though I haven't been brave enough to try those yet. They also hold regular wine/beer tastings, though I haven't made it to one of those yet, and they're expanding to a deli next door, which will be on my list of places to check out once it's completed!

I really like Twist for quick stop-ins. Their wine selection isn't the largest around but I contend that their beer selection might be. They have a huge walk-in cooler section with a great variety of beer. They'll also carry an obscure liquor if you request it (and MD distributors have it). Sometimes they have beer and wine tasting and have had food tastings too.Active Duty Military gets 10% off on Mondays and they have a 'rewards' program that will also get you credits.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet!!! This is the bar I have been searching for in southern maryland. High quality beer on draft, high quality spirits on the back bar, European cheeses, and spicy charcuterie. The atmosphere is laid back, even when it's busy. The bartenders and wait staff are great! my favorite bartender from the duck works here now too!!! I love this bar.

I'm always happy to see a specialty wine/alcohol shop open up that offers something a bit beyond the standard southern Maryland corner liquor shop. A sign that doesn't rely totally on the word "LIQUOR," for example. Twist is a big place -- bigger than Blue Wind up the street -- so I was excited to explore the wine selection. Here in Maryland, you can't buy wine in the grocery store, or at Trader Joe's, and most people haven't heard of Bevmo, nor can they ship to my door here. (Maybe one day the state will join the current century, but alas, not yet.) I'll couch what might sound like a harsh review with a caveat -- I'm not a big beer or liquor drinker. And most of Twist was full of a wide variety of beers, ales and hard stuff. There was only 1 short aisle of wine. The section labeled "Australia" was just a couple of short shelves -- they had only one New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that I could find (Kim Crawford, always a safe bet), and the less popular wine countries -- like, oh, FRANCE -- had shelves with even less to offer. What Twist DID have in the wine department was pretty much every kitschy label I've ever seen. Does it come in a bottle shaped like a fish? Oh yes? You're in luck -- Twist had that one. A Chateauneuf du Pape? Sorry, don't think so. Something called "Vampire Red" that will be perfect for your book club meeting about Twilight? Yes. An unoaked California Chard? Probably not. To be fair, they may have a few of the things I was looking for, but I was totally distracted by the red, bright blue and opaque white bottles in the wine section, and might've missed the old standards. I understand what they're doing, and I guess maybe shooting for the less educated wine consumer who is more likely to be looking for a cool label than for a traditional Rhone style red is probably a safe bet in this locale. But I respect Blue Wind more for working to educate consumers about good wine instead of assuming that they would rather find a funny bottle. Isn't a good bottle of wine a conversation piece on it's own? Does it really have to come in a flaming red bottle? Anyway, I miss Bevmo.

We need more places like this around here. The food is good and the drinks are delicious. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star is because the drinks are very small and very pricey. And the mixology is inconsistent. Also, the sound is very loud in there. Don't plan on having a conversation while there.

Awesome selection of beer and liquor. Good prices, too. Friendly staff. Parking lot easy to get in and out of. They have recently added on, so floor space is probably close to double what it used to be. An already good selection is now great. Conveniently located near other shopping. Could not ask for more.

Purchased a flask from this establishment which turned out to be defective. The flask leaked out my expensive spirits just as fast as I poured it in. Obviously I was not happy about it. Well I returned to the store the following day and the cashier (which didn't want to give her name) called the owner who refused to issues a refund because he said the package was opened. Well I am not sure how one is supposed to know of an issue unless you try to use it. I had to contact my bank and they are issuing a refund and investigating the situation. Thanks NFCU
