Triple R Ranch

Both daughters attended Triple R Camp during the summer for many years. Their experiences were still fresh on their minds and they continue to stay in touch with friends they made there.

My daughter has now gone to this camp twice in one summer, thank goodness we are local! Everyone jokes with us because we too have a horse farm and they say, "You live at a horse farm, but you're sending her to a horse farm?!" YES, yes I am! The staff, counselors and everyone on site are so kind and friendly! My daughter now has memories that will no doubt, last a lifetime. She is still talking about it and reminiscing on a daily basis! As a horse owner myself, I am always impressed just HOW gentle and safe their herd of horses are! They put up with a LOT from silly kids, mine would never be the saint these horses are! The activities are great and the fellowship for the kids is just amazing! I highly recommend Triple R's camps!

We went here for a community event and it was so fun! We loved the horse riding, laser tag, canoeing, archery, and rock wall climbing. We had lunch there as well. It was okay. But we didn't go for the food. The only negative was the water, I couldn't even choke it down. Maybe they need to get filters or just have bottled available.

Spent an evening around a campfire and thoroughly enjoyed the memories made. Had a great location near a little pond toward front of the ranch and heard the horses neigh nearby in the stables.

This place is AWESOME!!!!! It has so much history and a community that loves and cares about people! You won't regret spending the summer at RRR

Went here as a teen with a church youth group. I had the best time. We stayed in like cabin style bunks. Just some great outdoors fun!

I decided to give this place only one star because the animals were literally the only people that were nice to me when I was a camper at Triple R in 2013. I was twelve years old at the time and when I got there, the rest of the people in my room would stare at me like I was Osama Bin Laden and then look away when I said anything to them. I tried my very best to be open to socializing with them and hopefully give them a better impression but when that didn't work, I gave up and decided that if they claim to be good people but don't treat others the way they want to be treated then there was no reason for me to treat them with kindness. When I vocalized my differing opinion on homosexuality, it was then that they finally had a reason to ignore me although no reason is a good reason to ignore someone who had not done anything wrong. I was also bullied by fellow campers for being a germaphobe. When the camp counselors and other employees at the camp about the situation, they were very reluctant to let me go home earlier then I was scheduled to because it would make them look bad. It finally got to the point where I was begging the guy who worked at the office to call my mom and tell her to pick me up and he finally did so after his poor attempt to talk me out of doing it backfired. I didn't explain to my mom all the reasons why I left until one day I stood in front of my mom while she was having a cigarette and I nervously came out to her as bisexual. I didn't know what her reaction would be until I said it but she let me know she'd love me no matter what and that she was very understanding of how I felt. At least one Christian actually treated me with kindness unlike the campers.

Excellent place for youngsters to learn about the great outdoors! Nature comes alive and they will find themselves enjoying a whole new world of wildlife, horses, interactions with others, etc. It is an all around wonderful experience! Our four young granddaughters attended the horse-riding lessons last summer and loved every moment of it. This year two of them are participating in the sleepover camping experience and are there this week. We can't wait to hear about all of the fun activities. The staff and counselors are amazingly kind and genuinely care about each of the campers. A very special place indeed! Highly recommend Triple R Ranch!

I started horse back riding here when I was 10 years old. At the time I didn't know much about horses but now at 21 I realize they do not treat these horses well. They put 2 horses to the stall and they are tied in the stall with no room to move. Outside they were tied to posts by the bit. It's incredibly dangerous to tie a horse somewhere by it's bit because if they pull they can rip their tongue out. The horses would be tied outside in the Virginia heat for hours with no water, no grass to graze, and they would already be saddled which I know made them hotter. The horses that were in a "pasture" were stuck with multiple other horses in a muddy disgusting filled pasture. The pasture was always filthy with mud and horse poop. They did have a nice BIG pasture full of grass but not once in my 3 years of riding there did I ever see a horse be let in grass filled pasture. I will say that at my time of riding they had great instructors and I learned a lot there. But Triple R Ranch as a whole clearly didn't care for the horses and only cared about money. I haven't been back since I was 13 but I hope they changed their way of doing things with the horses.

I purchased a 1-hr. trail ride for my granddaughter for her birthday. The weather was extremely chilly on the day that I took her down for the ride, but her heart was warmed so much by the incredible horse that she rode, the staff rider that conducted the ride, and the office staff who were both extremely friendly and efficient in getting us checked in - she didn't mind the cold day. A wonderful warm reception and a great trail ride made for a wonderful birthday gift. We highly recommend Triple R! (My online name says we are from "San Francisco" for some reason, but we are here in Chesapeake.)
