Trial and Error

So for straight up variety this is my favorite distillery. They have so many really innovative things and they are so good. Black walnut liquor?!?.... It's freaking delicious! Whiskey...yep.... 2 different lemoncelos....both wonderful... the staff were AWESOME.....they Alon could get this place 4 stars if everything sucked.... But it doesn't....its delicious. We will be back with friends.

This cute little gem is hidden in the back of Bombolini. It is a distillery/ABC store and they have so many exciting things to try. I stumbled upon them one day while just hanging out on Lombardy and I've been a fan ever since. They are known for their Limoncello which can be used in an Lemon Drop or poured over gingerbread if that's your thing.They also have a few flavored vodkas, moonshine, whiskeys and gins. During my recent visit I tried the Yule Mule and it was delicious! I am a huge mule fan and this is the best one I had this holiday season. The mix of grapefruit, moonshine and ginger beer was very light and refreshing. The service is amazing. The owners and distillers are very friendly and knowledgeable. They don't mind sharing their "trials and errors" and no idea is too big or small when it comes to distilling. Outside of being a distillery, they also have wine, meat, cheese, smoked salmon and all things pasta that can be purchased onsite.

This place is awesome. The staff here were great and the cocktails were good. It's located inside Bombolini and has a few seats. I truly enjoyed trying some of the spirits and drinks and I'm happy to see they're growing. I highly recommend swinging by and chatting with the guys and trying their products.

I love Trial and Error because they are always willing to accommodate. This past weekend I was a part of a large group for a holiday bar crawl. The staff were attentive and made sure everyone had their drinks and were comfortable near the bar. While I have been participating in a dry December, I asked if a mocktail beverage could be made. My drink looked exactly like a friend's drink without the alcohol and it didn't lack in presentation. It also wasn't overly compensated with syrups and juice. I truly enjoyed my experience, and am appreciative to have had my mocktail comped as I was one of a few not indulging in alcohol. I'm looking forward to returning to sample their holiday menu when I'm done with my dry month.

I had a wonderful first experience at Trial and Error. The best part was the conversations that I had with the proprietors. It felt like a personalized experience and many of my tasting choices were based on the story behind the flavors. I will definitely be going back for more cocktails and the wonderful selections of Bombolini pasta they have. This is a great local spot!

Awesome distillery/brewery that operates inside Bombolino. While waiting for our pasta to cook, we got to taste a range of liquors and pick out a couple to make cocktails at home. The owner was awesome! He was very friendly and gave us some education on all the different alcohols he produces. There was a total mix of stuff- rum, gin, whiskey.

Swung by based on some good YelpReviews and picked up a couple of bottles of their whiskey. The one person "staff" was friendly and helpful. He described all the choices and helped me choose something thank I wanted.

On the way hoe from North Carolina I was looking for a distillery that was open, since it was a week day. I found Trial and Error online and decided this would be the stop. It was a little hard to find and parking is kind of a pain but hey it is in a busy area. I stopped in and the distillery shares the space with a deli which is cool with food available. They make small batches of their distilled spirits, reasonably priced, and the staff has very good knowledge of their products. They also offer samples. I purchased the maple whiskey. It was a few days before I was able to try my new purchase and I was not diss-appointed, good whiskey flavor, no heavy burn, and a sweet maple after taste very leasing and not over powering, it is good sippin whiskey and good with something light like ginger ale. High marks for Trial and Error for sure!

Great oak color and flavor for #3. I like it neat. You can pick up some handmade pasta while you visit the first rum distillery in RVA!

Such a fun place to get cocktails. I love the name. There was a lot to choose from and the prices were reasonable
