The Wine Seller

I swear, if you don't look a certain way (e.g. over 60, dressed preppy), these folks don't give a fart about you. Irony, the owner/manager (?) certainly doesn't have that appearance himself. I come in at 1pm on a Thursday for lunch and a glass of wine. Albariño was the white of the day. It was too green for me so I ended up leaving more than half the glass behind (and anyone who knows me, that never happens). I was looking forward to some Brie and apple crostini and a PLT (prosciutto, arugula, and tomato) sandwich, but the owner/manager was too busy with his tasting with a wine merchant to bother with me and the second employee apparently doesn't cook. I waiting 20 mins sipping terrible wine and finally got up, paid for my glass, and left. Don't come here unless you are just picking up a bottle or two. The terrible service is not worth it for anything else.

Showed up at 1145am and the doors are locked. Signage on the window says they're open from 9am-8pm Mon-Sat.

Food was above average, service was great, selection of tap beers was good, selection of wines was very good!

We had a work function at the wine cellar. It was a really good experience especially for how many people they were having to serve. We had a pick-your-own charcuterie with delicious cheeses and meats. The service was wonderful and the owner was really friendly. I loved the wine filled walls and their selection was great!

Great wine selection similar to the Cheese Shop basement on D.O.G. I buy my Amarone at both. Excellent beer and cigar selection and really good sandwiches if you're not in a hurry (as you shouldn't be for a good sandwich and drink). Best Reuben in town IMHO. The place has transformed from more of a wine bar to hipster beer bar (with music tastes as well) over the past few years. No TV or other distractions. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner whether you're a wine or beer aficionado.

Went to this place last week, and I'm afraid it's a one and done for me. I was looking for a Champagne as a gift, and since the selection was so limited I started looking for another wine. No one ever came over to help. Fine. So I take the bottle that I selected myself and walked over to the register where a guy with long hair was standing. The guy just ignored me then walked over to the bar which I realized he was tending. I get it if someone has to cover a bar, but you NEVER walk away from a customer without acknowledging them with at least "I'm covering the bar, but my co-worker will check you out in just a minute" or any basic polite form of acknowledgement. Totally rude. Then the guy who eventually came over and did check me out (never cracked a smile or said anything like "did you find everything you needed" etc) did the most lame job of gift wrapping the not-cheap bottle of wine that I bought. He just slipped in a silver cover and said "there ya go". Sorry, but at these prices, you don't get me back with that lackluster service.

It was my first time here before I left for deployment and I was super excited they could make an order for me. I came back from deployment to pick it up and the lady at the counter was rude. She thought my IDs were fake, and when I tried taking my military ID back she didn't give it. I will not be going back here again. It was an unnecessary confrontation, when both of my identifications are valid.

Great wine and craft beer selections every day of the week. We enjoy the (free) tastings on Friday - usually wine, but they do rotate beer. The staff have always been amazing, even when crowded. Their deli/kitchen has a good selection of flatbreads, charcuterie boards, and sandwiches or munchies. There's tables at the back to chill as a group, play games, etc.

Unexpected find after a disappointing experience at our planned lunch venue. We literally looked it up on the way back to the hotel and were blown away by the hospitality, food and wine. I had the delicious grilled cheese sandwich with bacon and tomato, while my husband had the meaty flatbread choice. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the wine we selected was really superb. This little gem will definitely be on our schedule to visit again on future trips to Williamsburg.

Pretty good beer selection and there's wine for everyone. The beers on tap were awesome. Just wish the staff were a little friendlier.
