I have been a fan of Whale Tea since they popped up in Hampton Roads a few years ago. First, it was through a Yelp Elite event in Virginia Beach and then they opened up shop in Yorktown. Most recently, they appeared here in Hampton Roads where Kung Fu Tea once stood. Sophia and I have been here a few times already. So how does this location compare to the others? After ordering food from Chick-Fil-A, we drove here to order treats. Just like the other locations, you can order from a kiosk station which transits to the counter and from there, your selection will be ready. And the staff did greet us once we walked inside with pop music playing. My selection was a large creme brulee Oreo milk at 50% sugar with tapioca pearls. It was pretty good and full of flavor. The reason why it's a 4-star review is due to only one kiosk station on site. The other two locals have two stations you can order from just in case you walk in besides ordering online. It does add time to your wait, but at the end of the day, your product does come as requested.Overall, not a bad stop. As always, we'll pop in for some much needed desserts. Till next time :)

I was in town for family and happened to see this pop up in my boba search. Located in the Hidenwood Shopping Center, this store is fairly new. You have the option to order at the counter or use their self-service kiosk which was easy to use. With their modern contemporary design, it was pretty relaxing inside. The boba drinks I ordered to go, came out in a timely manner and were accurate. The bobas itself were made fresh and delicious.

I was in the area doing some banking and it was hot - so why not grab a cool drink? This shop is cute and I was served quickly. I opted for the mango refresher, which was tea with some actual fruit in it. It was tasty and refreshing. It does put a hurting on your wallet though - I think in total it was like $8 for one drink so it's not going to be something I can do on the reg.

Cute place - the counter person was very nice and friendly. I tried the Vietnamese coffee, hot. It was too sweet for me but that, I'm sure, is a personal preference. I plan on going back to try some more drinks, and I can't wait to try some of their desserts, as well. Check them out!

The employees are nice, but unfortunately I'm leaving a Yelp review because there's no way on their website to submit feedback.I ordered a:Lychee tea with lychee jelly A milk tea with 50% sugar and no toppings2 taiyaki What I got:Lychee tea with lychee jelly, milk foam, and 50% sugar.2 taiyaki My milk tea was missing... and then they tell me they didn't ring me up for it. I asked them how my order was over $20 and they said it was just the other items, but they didn't give me a receipt so I'm pretty sure I was charged twice for the milk tea.So I get the milk tea and by this time I'm running late to get back to work so I assumed it was correct and I get back home and I see the milk tea is also wrong even though I've now told the cashier twice my order and the guy making the drinks once. The milk tea they gave me was 100% sugar instead of 50% and had boba when I asked for none. The milk tea was for my husband and he can't have a lot of sugar due to a medical condition so he couldn't even drink the milk tea which I probably paid twice for!!I know English has to be very, very challenging to learn and I cannot imagine having to understand a new language. But when you have one employee working who has limited English and one who is proficient in English doesn't it make the most sense to put the person who speaks the most English on the register to take orders??? Shouldn't the one who speaks the least English be behind the scenes to make the drinks??? I am so frustrated and boba is costly and a big splurge plus the order with all the screw-ups was so time-consuming that I just wasted almost $30. I will stick with Kung Fu Tea where I've purchased 100s of teas without incident.

I ordered a large milk tea with no boba, and ended up receiving an amazing drink, but with over 3/4th filled with ice. Honestly, for over 8 dollars, that is such a disappointment, and kind of unacceptable. What's even more frustrating, both my friends who were there ended up getting almost no ice, and one of them got practically the same thing. While service was decent and fast, I can't say that I'll be back because of this.

I loved going to the Hidenwood location...until I didn't. Took a couple of sips then on my third sip my boba has a strange consistency. I spit it out and there was a dead fly with my boba. absolutely unacceptable and disgusting! I won't be going back.
