I've dined at Swan Terrace twice - the first time was for Mother's Day 2021 (5/9/21), while my most recent visit was just this past Christmas Day. For both situations, I felt dining out was a more feasible option with it being just my mom and I. If nothing else, ST has plenty of food options. Outside of it being ayce, variety is a close second for hungry eaters. I'm no longer big on buffets, but I like having many options to choose from. I essentially came back to our table with something different each time, albeit I was only able to finish three plates (well, 3.5, since I grabbed dessert). We had a 12:15p reservation. Since COVID restrictions have eased up, there was no longer a small presentation before seating to explain the "buffet protocol" (must wear a mask; must put on provided gloves before grabbing plates and food). You have to check in first, they will give you a small piece of paper with your table number and server's name. Once the doors open, you hand that piece of paper to the host/hostess, they'll seat you and then you can eat all you want. Since I took pics of the Christmas Day menu, here's a small list of what they offered: Prime Rib with au jus Crab Dip with Assorted Crackers Crustless Broccoli Cheddar Quiche Applewood Smoked Bacon Breakfast Sausage Cheese Blintz with Fresh Raspberry Sauce Breakfast Sidewinder Potatoes (similar to what Tailgate in VB used to offer) Sour Cream & Chive Mashed Potatoes Roasted Garlic Broccolini Truffled Mac & Cheese Garlic & Herb Salmon atop Wilted Spinach Chicken Breast topped with Red Pepper Basil Cream Sauce Smoked SalmonChilled Steamed Shrimp Oysters on a Half Shell Our server on Christmas Day was Christin. She took our drink order and kept the refills coming. She was working a big section, so there were initial gaps before the refills arrived, but she was working hard and was all smiles. Just like the Mother's Day visit, there were 2 separate sections to alleviate any long lines. I went to the one outside near their giant Christmas tree because it was closer to our table, but mainly that's what I preferred during our last visit. But mom went inside and mentioned that the prime rib station was better equipped to actually cut the prime rib. The outside prime station used a chef's knife instead of a prime rib knife, so they were having trouble cutting into the prime rib (the pieces were too thin, uneven, chunky and looked like leftover scraps). Other than that, my experience was just as good as my Mother's Day visit. The facility was clean, well decorated and welcoming. Thank you, Swan Terrace, for another fabulous experience! JV

Stopped for a dinner here during the illumination event - the food was meh, very limited menu. My husband did like the prime rib. They were short-staffed, but our server was very attentive and truly tried her best. The restaurant itself could use a little more holiday decor to match the festive ambiance of the Founders Inn itself . My parents also come here for the weekend brunch a few times a year and they seem to like it.

The restaurant is inside the beautiful Founder's inn in Regent University campus. This is the place we go to for special occasions because the place is so beautifully. We have a lot of wonderful memories here. The staff are so nice and serves with smile and excellence. The food is so delightful and very delicious. I had a steak that is so tender and flavorful. My husband have the most tasty salmon. The veggies are fresh and good. The dessert are so good too. I'll never get tired of coming over here. So see you soon. Btw, the place is so large, saying that the parking may be a good walk to the restaurant. You can also go to the back place for a nice picturesque place.

A no frills menu on the buffet bar. Not a complete spread compared to a Sunday buffet. The clam chowder is just right. Light on the cream, potato, and nicely clammed:-))) Had to get another serving. Salad bar selection are just what I like, garbanzos, olives, beets, and more. Parmessan or cheedar on top of romaine or garden greens. Thousand island or blue would have completed the selection but ranch was fine. The main menu was chicken beef, or salmon. Tried a slice of each with chicken topping the list, The beef reminded me of what's being served on overseas flight on AA, while the salmon was a ok. Could be that its not sockeye but rather farm raised. Mash was spot on.The finishing choco cake with coffee sealed the meal. Servers are very attentive, always checking on you!!!

Took our daughter to lunch for her birthday yesterday and oh what a beautiful dining area! The furnishings are elegant yet comfortable. We sat at a window with a view of the courtyard--picture perfect for weddings. Our server, Stephen, was attentive, professionally friendly, and took several good pictures of the birthday girls and I to remember our time together. There was a full buffet with salads and lots of add-ins, fresh and delicious fruit, veggies, meats, and desserts. The coffee was especially good. Definitely will return!

An elegantly laid out dining room. I stopped by for breakfast the last couple of mornings. It's basically a buffet with a very limited menu. The food is delicious, especially the omelet station where the chef cooks to order omelets for you. The eggs are fluffy and cooked just right with the fillings of your choosing. The staff is nice and takes care of your needs. My only negative is the efficiency of the operation. Since it's a buffet, they should probably charge you on the way in or way out, which would free up the server to do other things. Other than that, I really liked the place and will probably eat here again on my next visit. Thank you, Swan Terrace, for providing an elegant place to dine while staying at the Founders Inn.

Nice quiet ambiance with friendly service. Our waitress was Jana was very pleasant and accommodating. She took our drink orders promptly and offered us the Restaurant Week menu option. We both ordered the Chicken Galantine for our entrees, the fried green tomatoes caprese and the butternut bisque for the appetizers, and the mango cheesecake and the pineapple coconut cake for dessert. The total price per person was $35-a truly amazing dinner! The chicken galantine was very flavorful with the chicken very tender and crispy skin and mushrooms over a bed of fettuccine with a bordelaise. My compliments to the chef as it was the best dinner I've had in a while! The desserts were not only delicious but a work of art! We ordered the mango cheesecake and the pineapple coconut cake coconut cake. The mango cheesecake has a tangy great flavor and texture, while the pineapple coconut cake has a light delicate flavor and texture to match!! Kudos to the pastry chef! Overall, it was quite a relaxing dinner experience with wonderful classic background music, excellent fare, and outstanding service!

We were not sure where we wanted to go on Thanksgiving, but I had heard that the Founders Inn was a nice restaurant in the Virginia Beach area. We drove down from Williamsburg for a 3:30 reservation. Once we got there, we saw lots of people waiting for the same seating time. We were a little worried that with so many people, the food would be like a typical buffet-lukewarm and super crowded. We were very pleased to find out that not only was the food delicious, but the lines were not too long. tThe service was great and both the dining room and the hotel commom areas were beautiful. We would definitely go back. The price was right, the environment was lovely, and the food was very good for a very busy Thanksgiving day.
