Found this restaurant on yelp, as I was visiting from out of town. The atmosphere was very nice, we came for brunch and Riviere did not disappoint. There was a DJ with a nice set and the service was great as well; it wasn't overly pack as well. My best-friend got the mimosa flight ($25) and the french toast with two sides ($20); she said it was good. I had the grits bowl with catfish ($21), the dish was good as well just an odd touch with the shaved Parmesan cheese LOL. Definitely recommend this place and to make reservations

Stopped by The Riviere on our way back to MD from Williamsburg and it was the perfect hidden gem! The food was delicious and well seasoned. I had the salmon cakes which came with two sides, the Mac and cheese was amazing and the cabbage was great too. My partner had the lamb chops and waffles and really enjoyed it as well! Server was nice and offered recommendations.

The Riviere is a decent bar that has potential with brunch restaurant aspirations. With the ambience of a nightclub and the food of an unsuccessful brunch restaurant I was highly disappointed with my experience. My date and I arrived at 11:05am on a Saturday morning which is minutes after opening hours. Shortly after seating ourselves we were notified that the restaurant was completely booked for the day and walk ins could only sit at the bar. Initially I was impressed, rather than disappointed - I assumed that this meant that the establishment was of great quality, shortly after I discovered otherwise. I ordered the shrimp and grits, my date got the catfish and grits alongside a blueberry lemonade mimosa. To keep a long story short, neither of our dishes tasted fresh, frozen fish and frozen shrimp both fairly dry while the grits were extremely thick and dry. I would highly recommend cooking the grits for a tad longer, providing less and including more cream alongside these dishes and using fresher ingredients. The food is almost market price while customers receive frozen seafood - not only unethical and distasteful but unsatisfactory. In all the service was fair but I do not have any intentions on revisiting. A good place for a quick drink for the music and drink menu but this restaurant has a lot of room for growth to say the least.

We walked in and stood at door for about a minute, without being acknowledged or greeted by anyone...not even the dj that is right by door, made eye contact. The place was only about 30% full and looked like all the staff was huddled behind the bar socializing, so we walked out. Out of town and always prioritize black businesses but if you are too unprofessional to even greet your guests, then you won't get my hard earned money! Also, was willing to ignore the fact that the music was too loud for that size room and the scent of weed that smacked us at the door.

Breakfast: I didn't want the same breakfast I'd make at home, this place achieved that. The food was tasty. The waffles had nice crispness and a sweet glaze drizzled over them along with a few blueberries. The grits had great flavor and the bacon was as expected.Only negative, depending upon your expectations was plastic silverware, plastic cup and plastic container for the syrup.Wait staff were not fast but friendly.

Happy to have parking adjacent to the building!!For brunch, you'll want reservations. It gets packed quickly. Disappointed that they did not have steak and cheese egg rolls that day. The mimosa flight is a cool option if you want to check out a few flavors. The pancake platter was a nice choice and I really liked the fish + grits. The music was vibey and staff were upbeat.

Met up with a friend for lunch on a weekday afternoon. The dining room was half full which gave each party a table or two in between each other. Seating is a bit tight otherwise (think Cheesecake Factory table space). Service was pretty quick with the server taking our drink orders and clarified menu items we had questions about. Food arrived in good time. We both ordered salmon bites and grits. The salmon was seasoned well. The grits were heavy on the cream, soupy even, but delicious after a good stirring. However the food seemed a bit lukewarm. I also ordered a side of sweet potatoes because I was craving them. The texture was perfect, but they were heavy on the cinnamon and super light on the sugar. From other reviews I probably should've gone with the waffles. Might give them a try next time!

An Unforgettable Birthday Experience at The Riviere!I recently celebrated my birthday on a Saturday at The Riviere, and it was nothing short of perfection! From the moment I walked in, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel special. A huge shoutout to Dee and Rae, who provided the kind of impeccable service that transforms a good evening into a memorable one.The food? Absolutely divine. I can't rave enough about the Super Drizzler and the Broad Street Alfredo--both were culinary masterpieces. The cook did his/her thing! And let me tell you, the mac & cheese as a side was hands-down the best I've ever had from a restaurant. Creamy, cheesy, and seasoned to perfection! But the drinks sealed the deal. Dee made the most flawless Lemon Drop Martini, hands down the best drink on the menu. It was balanced, refreshing, and exactly what I needed to toast the occasion. The Riviere delivered on every front: exceptional food, extraordinary service, and an unforgettable ambiance. I can't wait to return--birthday or not. Five stars aren't enough for this gem!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We arrived at 12:55 pm for our 1:00 pm reservation. The waitress was AWFUL! She sat us told us everything they were out of and left. We sat for 15 minutes with no water, drinks, communication at all. There was a table seated after us and she waited on them, went behind the bar made them drinks and took their order. We finally flagged down another waiter and asked him if he could be our waiter AWFUL! It took them 45 minutes to make me salmon and scramble eggs. The salmon was the size of 1 chicken tender. I could not believe they served me that for $20.00. It was more eggs than salmon. I sent it back and they said they were now out of salmon. At 2:00 pm and they were open until 6:00 p,m. I opted not to order anything else that this was my experience for an hour. My husband ordered the grit bowl that comes with catfish and was told they were out of catfish. He and my son ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was piping hot and the grits were luke warm. It was sent back, reordered and it came out the same way. I believe the grits are precooked and on a warmer which explains why they are never hot. We were so unhappy, we left. I never ate which is sad to leave a restaurant without eating. The focus on the food was lost. The esthetics are not good. When you walk in, it is a small tight spot with seating jammed in 1 small room. There is a DJ who plays the music so darn loud you cannot hear the people you are eating with. There was a birthday scene that was supposed to emulate bottle service that looked horrible and forced. The focus should be on the SERVICE!! The female waitress is awful and it seems she would rather be a bartender than waitress. She gave horrible service to the table next to us as well. Our service was so bad the table beside us complained for us because they noticed it. Stop adding automatic tips to the ticket. This is why we get bad service so that's why they do not give good service!!!!!!!!!!! If they have to work for it they will do better! It is UNPROFESSIONAL to run out of food AND to open at 11:00 am and to be out of anything at 1:00 pm. Lazy business! Black businesses want to say people don't patronize them. This is what we get when we do. We do not want to waste our money. I will NEVER go there again! Save your money and go somewhere else!

A friend I had lunch today. *the music was too loud*we where given plastic utensils and cup*they ran out of salmon*they ran out of wrappers for the egg rolls*the server sat when he took our orders *the server sat when we paid*we couldn't pay with cash*the menu informed us that a 15% gratuity added*over all poor service, disappointed with the food and the music was similar to being at a club not conducive to eating and talking.
