The Original Pizza Sam

Stopped back in and the pizza is still good and maybe more of an off day but it wasn't what I remembered. Service was okay as well. Still seating inside and napkins on the table which is nice if you are dining in.

I have wanted to visit The Original Pizza Sam for some time, and now I finally have the chance. Entering this place, all I could think about was a New York-style feel but also an Italian vibe. Now, let me tell you about his place. You have eat-in and take-out. Now, if you want to eat it, there is a spacious dining room. If you order a pizza, they bring it on a stand that off-sets the table, so it only takes up a little space. The restaurant's decor highlights the place's history, as the walls are all painted with the owners, their families, and so much more that you can understand their beginnings. I also love the open cooking area; you can see your food being prepared. The big pizza oven is right in the middle, with the magnum opus preparing your food. The service is excellent; they will go out of their way to explain things. I love the simple menu, and the taste is fantastic. The garlic knots are smothered in butter, garlic, and parsley-like they were made in an authentic Italian kitchen. Pizza comes in different cuts, and it is served by the slice. I really like this place, and I will be back. Happy Yelping!

We love the original pizza Sam. The food is great and there's a wide selection on the menu. We enjoyed the knots and two pizzas while we had family from out of town. The pizzas are really huge which kinda makes the price tag up there. We had 2 large 2 topping pizzas, a small garlic knots and 3 sodas for about $70. They do offer a 2% discount for cash.

My favorite pizza place in Virginia. I always look forward to making a stop here on my drive from Fredericksburg to Norfolk. You can taste the quality in the ingredients and I love the fact it's always hot. The service is great and the place is always clean

Got there later in the evening on the way home from traveling. We grabbed a couple of slices. The Sicilian style was too thick for me but the cheese slice was great. Service was nice.

Wow - I'm not on this side of town often, but I had to get my car serviced, and it took forever, so when I was done I was STARVING. This place popped up on my Yelp search nearby so I figured I'd give it a shot. So cute! I think when I first moved here, I did go to Luigi's a time or two before they shut down. This is apparently the next generation iteration, and I gotta say, it's pretty great. I was probably the only person in the joint not in an army uniform, so they've clearly got a line of regulars there.You can order whole or by the slice/piece. I LOVE being able to order by the piece because I'm usually eating alone and I simply can't handle massive amounts of leftovers. I ended up picking the margarita slice because I judge just about any pizza place by how well they can pull off a margarita pizza. The slice and a water was $5 and change. $5!! And the slice was HUGE. Bigger than my hand, and more than enough for me to be fully satisfied for lunch. Super tasty, the staff was friendly and speedy, overall I can't believe how good for the price (less than fast food restaurants these days!!). Everyone, go support this hidden gem in Newport News.

When I saw that this place had an almost 5 star overall Yelp rating for pizza, I was skeptical. To me, pizza is pizza- it is hard to mess up, and isn't necessarily anything I ever crave. I don't see the need to get "fancy" pizza, and I'd never go out of my way to seek it out. My husband had a craving for it, saw the reviews online, and placed a pick up order for us.WOW! We always get a veggie pizza and add chicken, and it was AWESOME. There was such a wide variety of veggies, and it was chock full of them! The crust was perfect and the pie itself was massive. We also got a Caesar salad, which was nothing special but definitely tasty. The vibes inside were great- it felt like a family owned business, where the owner could have easily been working the counter or serving up pizzas. There was an old school fridge next to the cashier with bottled sodas, desserts, etc. I also loved that there was an option to get pizza by the slice. Next time we will plan to eat there, and give the garlic knots and cheesecake a try!

Simple and delicious.The service was great. Everyone was polite and attentive.Everything was nice and clean. I loved seeing the owners family pictures on the wall.We took my son for his birthday. He's the pickiest of eaters, but pizza is his favorite. He loved the pizza!Will ba back next week haha

5 stars~! My husband and I walked in to try a piece of pizza and bread knots. OH MY GOODNESS! The sauces was so different and good we were both very surprised. I'm torn between telling people about this place or keeping to a treasure of our own (eventually the locals will figure it out). The eat in part was good but better for take out. The staff was fast and taking the order was a breeze. The atmosphere was calm and nice. It's the original Pizza Sam I remember from New York for sure.

Really good place for a slice of outstanding pizza. I was served right away by the staff. I got a slice of Sicilian and supreme both were so good. I will be back to try more of there menu
