I purchased a Groupon and when I called, the young lady I made our reservations with almost forgot to tell me about a $7 per person fee would need to be paid upon arrival. What she didn't say was that it needed to be in cash. The good part: The experience for the girls was great and Maddie treated them like princesses.

I hosted a party for my daughter here. She had a wonderful time and her friends did, too. The KM was very forthcoming with the tip in cash and charge for extra children. As a planning parent, I did nothing at all other than show up- they had everything ready and even consolidated gifts after they were opened, insisted that they clear the table and not the girls after their cupcakes and so on. The cost may seem steep, but I felt that it really was all inclusive. The girls left with fancy braids and hair, glitter, nice nails, and lots of dancing and fun.I recommend it for a splurge fun spa party. They did a nice job and put forth a lot of effort.

I wanted to love this place, I really did. I had this great plan of including it in a reward system for my now 4 year old daughter. I walked by it all the time and finally decided "What is a better time to try it out than to get her and some of her little friends dolled up before a birthday tea party?!"I walked in for my first encounter with them. The receptionist was very stand offish and not very welcoming of any of my questions. Apparently the "original" price of the tot make over is $35 at least it is when it comes to the (only cash) gratuity that you have to pay. It's been advertised as $17 in the window for the last two years that I've been walking by there. My second encounter: I left but I had a couple more questions (since she made me feel super awkward and wasn't forth coming with any party info) so I called and nobody answered, I called a couple days later still no answer so I walked up there and they were with other customers OK I can see why they didn't answer. I give her my reservation thinking I have to pay a deposit but she doesn't mention it so we get there for our kiddie makeovers and I'm told I have to pay this forced gratuity upfront and in cash. I have to then leave my little girls first salon makeover birthday party because this girl "Oops" forgot to tell me. I leave and there are two attendants doing toenails for the four girls. I get back and there is one doing hair and makeup, the other one is one the phone or slumped over on the computer while the other 4 year olds are bored waiting. (Funny how there were other guests there twice before and they couldn't answer the phone when I called but here she is, on the phone) So I just help keep the girls happy and not show my annoyance because that's not going to help anything. At the end I'm saying thank you and whatnot and they aren't even making eye contact! Not doing that again.

I am first going to start off by saying that I am sorry that there are not better reviews for this place. I purchased a groupon for my 4 yo and she absolutely loved everything about this place. She received hand and toe polish, and got to pick a base color plus glitter topcoat. She got to wear a cute diva robe for the time we were there, and then after hands and toes, the lady did her hair in a cute fancy bun with glitter and did her makeup, colors of my daughter's choice. Then she was surprised with a crown and a ring, and a box of gummy bears at the end. I loved this place and we will be back, groupon or not!

Klumsy moose staff are the most unprofessional I've ever meet. To make a long story short, small businesses like the klumsy moose wouldn't progress w/o military families. Therefore, to my surprise Brandi one of the mgr., whom I've communicated with throughout my baby's bday planning would have the audacity to give my time slot to another customer. Btw**Brandi nor the owner has not apologize. second mgr Candace , visited the store and spoke to find out what happened. She responded by stating Brandi knows better and I can call the owner on Sunday and speak with her. She does not have a contract number for either one. Please understand that I communicated with Brandi at least once a week because I wanted my baby's bday a certain way. My limo was reserve the same day, I reserve my date/time slot. I was told by Brandi she would add my name and assure my time was secured. I also requested a clean environment including all costumes. Which I was promised would be taken care of, which I received a called from Brandi stating the owner could not fulfill all my request. reallyI was honest letting her know , The facility was not sanitary. They are over price for no reason, and the groupon coupon is a joke. I took my business somewhere else with my pink hummer.

I just took my daughter and her friend to the Klumsy Moose this past Saturday. I will NEVER return again! 1. When we walked into the shop no one was smiling or greeting us until we said we were there for a 12 pm appointment. 2. The girls were ages 3 and 5 and received a robe that was size 10/12, they wear X-small clothes. 3. I was told when I made the appointment that each girl would have their own "stylist" which was a lie. They had one stylist for each girl. So when one was getting their nails/hair done the other one was not engaged, so she was very bored. 4. They both received a very small condiment container of gummy bears which had about 5 gummy bears. 5. This is their job, they work on little girls hair all the time so you would think they would be more creative. Nope. One girl got two braids in her hair which was out by the time we drove 10 minutes to the mall. The other girl was tender headed so that "stylist" didn't want to take the time to actually comb her hair out and instead put the hair in a bun held bobby pins. Anyone who has worked with little girls hair would know that their hair will not be hold by bobby pins!!!6. We have an hour for their visit. The next group came in 10 minutes before the end of our appointment so the "stylist" began to start rushing. If there would have been two "stylists" then there would not have been a need to rush. 7. I paid extra for the girls to receive hair chalk in their hair. I payed over $12 for this extra charge. My daughter has light brown hair and the "stylist" said she could only use purple on her hair. I said that was fine. I have used the hair chalk that they use before and know it lasts a long time and is very vibrant, so I was excited. Then the "stylist" was using a blush brush to put the color int he hair and she only did one small piece in the front of my daughters head. The receptionist said it would be 3 pieces. My daughters friend has VERY light blonde hair and I was expecting it to be very vibrant. She wanted pink, but the "stylist" said they didn't have pink and she would have to use purple again. Literally I could not see the purple at all!!!! This was also after the fact that I had to remind her to put the hair chalk in her hair, which I payed for, because she was about ready to run off and help the new group that came in.8. The "stylist" then ran off to the new group without saying good bye or if we were happy with everything. At this point I had to give the receptionist $9 tip for each girl for the "stylist". I was very unhappy. The girls were not impressed, I was not impressed. I paid well over $60 for this experience. I am a licensed stylist and I feel that this was a horrible excuse for any person in the beauty industry. My purchased included toes and finger nails, hair, and makeup. The girls did not receive makeup because time "ran out". This business is a joke. They have no other competition in the area and they are very below par. I am surprised they have lasted this long in the business. Don't skip over the bad reviews and book an appointment for your girls. I made that mistake and now I am out $70. Take them to where you get your hair done/nails done and you will spend about the same, maybe less and you will receive sooooooo much more for your money. Let them dress up in princess dresses and it will be better than what they will experience at the Klumsy Moose.

My daughter was invited to a party and everyone seemed to have a great time! She had her nails and face painted and said she wore a fairy costume, colored and ate pizza and ice cream. My one concern was glitter in my daughter's hair. Due to limited party space, parents were unable to stay during the party and therefore I didn't know what was taking place during the party. I think the "Klumsy Moose" should acquire permission to do anything hair related. It has been three days since the party and I am still trying to get the glitter out of my daughter's hair.

I made an appointment for my daughters birthday three weeks in advance, drove all the ways from fredricksburg for them to tell me they did not have my appointment written down. I asked, the lady when I made the appointment if I can pay when I walk in and she said I could. Well it's a good thing I didn't pay anything. I will go spend my $150 at a place that has time for my daughter and her friend since they could not give me the appointment time they scheduled me for!!!!!!

My daughter attended a birthday party here on 8/17 and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The two girls working the party seemed they wanted to be anywhere else and barely spoke to the kids, no excitement at all! There was a lot of just waiting around for the kids with no direction. The cost compared to the service is insane! the required tip is unfair, tips are based on service and I would not have tipped 18% based on the service received. The nail polishes were old and cheap and could definitely use some refreshing. The "facial" consisted of a cheap paint brush and lotion that was used on each girls face- not even cleaned. The fruit punch given to the kids had already been opened and used for quite some time and some of the kids said it tasted bad. Great concept- terrible quality and service. Will not recommend to anyone.

Phenomenal, innovative and delightful are just a few words to describe this diamond my daughter came across in the city of Chesapeake for the celebration of my granddaughter's 8th birthday. The "The Klumsy Moose," was decided upon, because all the girls invited could also be made to feel special; almost as if it were their big day too. After about 10 minutes in to our experience, one of my granddaughter's friends was notably shaking. When asked if she was cold her response was, "no, I am just so excited." Later another friend commented that this was the best day of her life! I am not making this up friends, clearly the experience had a magnificent effect on these precious little ones. On a 1 to 10 scale, this would have to be classified as a 20. The staff and ambience are the combination that make this a very special experience. Gloria J. Wilson, Camellia Shores--Norfolk 2-10-17
