We had our wedding reception at Historic Boxwood Inn on June 6th 2019. It was such an elegant, comfortable and stress free event. My husband and I rented the place out for the weekend. We were so pleased we did because it allowed our out of town guest to stay with us at the Inn. It provided enough bedrooms to accommodate our families. Also, some people had to stay over to sober up until the morning. The venue is huge, allowing guest to mingle freely throughout the Inn. It made such a gorgeous venue for our wedding reception. It's decorated with beautiful antiques and a showcase stairway. The Bridal suite is gorgeous. The girls and I had a wonderful time getting ready upstairs before meeting the rest of our guest downstairs. We had a private ceremony in the Green Room which was beautiful, although already married...we exchanged vows in front of our 45 guest. (My husband and I Eloped in April at the beach in Yorktown.)The owners are incredibly accommodating, and friendly. I called her a million times and she always answered my questions. We have such fond memories of our intimate wedding reception. We are so happy we chose Historic Boxwood Inn. By sharing this review, we hope others can have the same experience as we did.

The owners are so sweet and have obviously put their heart into this place. The food was amazing, I had the crab cake sandwich and potato salad which was just like my mom makes it . The food was reasonably priced and you can walk around the house and view the open rooms and antiquities. Highly recommend!

We decided last minute to make a weekend out of our visit to the Newport News area, and booked the "Miss Nana" room at the Boxwood. We arrived to a warm welcome by the housekeeper, Kathy, who gave us a tour of the beautiful historic house and made us feel at home. Our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and furnished, and very clean. The cherry on the cake was the delicious homemade treat waiting on the desk for us! We had two great nights of sleep in the peaceful house, and woke up to two amazing breakfasts served by the housekeeper and her husband (who were also wonderful company and very knowledgeable about the area!) They even recommended great local places to eat, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, we could not have had a more pleasant stay, and we definitely plan on making a return trip to the Boxwood!

This was such a fun treat. I had to come up here for another appointment, so I decided to. A,e a weekend trip out of it since I did the drive. Well worth it!!You really get great customer service here and are treated like VIP. The locals are well aware of this historic gem. Check it out if you get the chance. Prices are decent, food is great. Very professional atmosphere and the employees exude tranquility. I dope to a few of them and they told me how they loved their job and it shows

This is a elegant southern home that has been turned into a bed and breakfast. My family has had many lunches and dinners there and the food is phenomenal! Also, we loved it so much my husband and I got married here! The Hulick family who owns this B&B could not have been more helpful and accomodating. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. The rooms are fabulous, large and well decorated. All in all I love this place and would reccomend it to anyone for a nice getaway or their next event.

We thought we were being treated special by the staff at the Boxwood Inn. But, after reading the other reviews, it seems that all guests are treated like VIPs. This did not change throughout our multi-day stay - everyone and everything consistently focused on making sure we enjoyed our stay, which included delicious event food at a reception, wonderful breakfasts, and snacks. The accommodations were exactly as described. There was plenty of free parking for us and those attending the special reception event. We've added the Boxwood Inn to our list of B&Bs that we would stay at again. Sincerely, Karen & Art (Karts) Huseonica, Crofton, Maryland, USA

We stayed at the Boxwood maybe 10 years ago. Beautiful place . Apparently since then it has changed hands more than once . We needed a place to stay near Norfolk this year to meet with a medical professional and thought of the Boxwood first . I explained my situation with the owner and she was gracious enough to allow us to stay a couple days . Lydia , the caretaker, was knowledgeable, very friendly and took great care of us . Unfortunately the property has fallen into somewhat disrepair thro the past owners but you can still see the old charm . The new owners appear to have plans to bring it back to its southern charm and are in the process of renovating it now along with a new large addition that they're working on now . Give em a little time and it could come back to glory . I'll need a place down there next year and I'll check her out first . Mike B , 3/20/2024

After the Lee Hall Easter egg hunt earlier this weekend, we headed over to the Boxwood Inn for lunch. It was a delicious, fun and delightful experience. I had a burger and soup, my partner had soup and a chicken sandwich, and our endlessly excited 4 year old had a grilled cheese sandwich with chips. The food was delicious and satisfying. The ambiance of this grand old place is amazing! Decorated and packed with antiques, collectables and other interesting things, the Boxwood is willing to sell most anything and EVERYTHING is pretty interesting. We enjoyed the staff, the place, and the lunch. We'll be back soon!
