The Harbor Club

The Harbor Club is on the second floor of Watersides main building and I went there to pick up my packet a few days ago for the race weekend. It was clean, large and spacious. Easy to find and there is plenty of nearby parking in the garages downtown.

So it's day two of the opening of the Waterside District Marketplace.We dined at The Harbor Club on the second floor and I believe this is the only bar/restaurant/Lounge on the second floor and it's beautifully designed! it has an outdoor patio as well ... views of the Elizabeth River ....boats docking and sailing you can see the ferry dock as well as the American Rover it's just beautiful and I'm sure it's even nicer at night when they turn on the lights and you see the glow from the water and the skyline... breathtaking.This is exciting for Norfolk Waterside the second third time around... hopefully it's going to be here to stay. The Harbour Club is definitely going to be a special asset to the District. Very sexy in here!We dined in for their happy hour. We were able to check in with one of the party host for an extended happy hour instead of it being until 7 pm with our yellow wristbands it was extended until 9 p.m. Drink specials only!Happy hour included draft specials, Margaritas were $5 and well drinks I believe for $4 and wine was $4 as well no food specials.This restaurant only features tapas so it's basically meant to come: chill, take a bite of something and just enjoy the atmosphere.I'm not sure if they play music but I can see where as they would push the lounge table and chair's back or take up the chairs and tables and have an open dance floor So excited to see how the night life will be in here. We arrived a little after 5pm... traffic was crazy on Waterside Dr.The atmosphere oozes high energy!!We sat at the bar (large bar) where our bartender was Katharine AKA Kate and she made us some grrrrreat Margaritas!!She's legit see her if you're in here!!The restrooms are on the outside of the restaurant so it's a short walk. If you want to dine on the patio you can do that as well.The Baja tacos which I had were absolutely good I didn't know they had onions on them but other than that they were still good.The harbor sliders they were very good as well with a handful of chips that I believe are homemade... cost $50 so you can't beat that looking forward.TVs are positioned around the perimeter of the club. And there are two bars located inside this club.The wait staff seems a little scattered but they managed to care for all. Parking is available via: the garages, meter parking.The food did take a lonnnnng to come. I'm not not sure why. While time was passing by we were high off of the energy in the club!Tapas and a full bar can be found here... mostly seafood. So much enthusiasm and high energy in the atmosphere where as time went by super fast but still the food should have came out a little bit sooner than what it did.

It was honestly a terrible experience, especially because I had an allergic reaction due to the wrong dish being delivered. The service was very slow and they also made a mistake on our check. Would not recommend going there for food. I'm sure it's a great place for drinks next to the harbor.

Stopped by to try this place for the first time and turns out there was a private event happening, but no signs were posted so we waited at the host stand for a second before we were approached by a staff member who rudely shushed us out like a bouncer rushing people out at the end of the night. Vice politely stating there was a private event and asking us to leave. 2 stars solely due to first impressions based on the staff interactions.

I came here on a Sunday during their opening weekend for a blogger meetup. The staff at Waterside was aware of our visit and gave us a tour of the entire building prior to us sitting down to eat. They asked us to order first and then go for the tour so our food would be ready when we returned. Unfortunately in doing so, when we returned the food was cold so that was disappointed. There are 11 food items on their menu, and unfortunately they were out of about half of them. So we ordered Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mini Lobster Rolls, Coconut Shrimp, Lobster Bites, and the Harbor Club Sliders. The hummus tasted exactly how you would expect it, so I wont speak on that. The lobster bites were plump, and not heavily fried with too much batter. There was promise to the sliders, which were topped with caramelized onions, and came with a side of chips, but since they were cold it wasn't satisfying to eat.I tried their food again at a catered event PBR where they had kabobs and steak sliders. They were delicious and I wish that some of those items are featured on the regular menu. I definitely want to go back and try what I originally wanted to try which was the Ahi Tuna Stack and Lobster Tacos and Crab Roll Stack. Its been a few months so I would hope that they have since improved.

During my visit to The Harbor Club there were 2 major parties (one wedding) taking over the entire outside balcony. Lucky we are friendly people and after chatting up the grandmother of the bride we eventually crashed the party and made our way onto the balcony to enjoy the view of the Harbor. I sat at the bar with my friend and had a few drinks and appetizers. The bartender was nice enough but service was extremely slow due to the big parties . We ordered:* An Old fashioned (bourbon drink) the ice Cube was in the shape of a skull. Drink was made well!*Lobster Tacos- Yum!* Tuna stack. Was really good. I would order it again. A few of the chips were a tad soggy. When we asked for a few more the waitress basically said she would try but alluded to the fact it probably would t happen... and it didn't! The lack of attempt was a big customer service No No for me. However, I'll try them again. ~

I attended the Junior League's Brunched event held at The Harbor Club this past weekend. What a really great venue.It's bright... But we were there from 11am to 2pm with a lot of amazing natural light to fill the place.The venue is quite spacious and beautiful inside. I was reminded of looking out over the water when it was a Hooter's several years ago... A much better use of the space now. Plenty of seating with lounge areas, the bar, and the outdoor patio overlooking the Elizabeth River.Top tip: sit outside if the weather is gorgeous. There aren't a lot of views this good in Norfolk. On nice days, like when I was just there, they open the doors that allow for a nice breeze into the place.TVs fill the place throughout that are connected to one central system, a good feature for events, as the Junior League had a rolling slideshow of all their sponsors.I didn't interact too much with The Harbor Club staff although they were helpful with getting us drinks. A couple of folks kept pretty busy keeping the place clean as people were trying foods throughout the venue.Definitely a great place to host an event for 100+ people.

Spacious and charming. Very clean beachy feel. Drinks were great and food looked amazing. Friendly staff, can't wait to go back and see it in its full glory at night!

This is not a restaurant! Cocktails and apps in a nice, modern, open floor plan. Almost like a very well lit bar/night club scene. Was about 30% occupied. Immediate greet at door and Service was good.

Wow. Jahnee and Hysonia made our day today!! Best service. Best vibe. Can't wait to come hang again these BADASS ladies!!!
