Such a special evening! The waitress saw to our every need and request. The beautiful Inn provided a wonderful setting for perhaps the best meal we've had in years! All 4 courses were such a culinary delight. Thanks Chef Messeret for sharing your beautiful food magic with us!

My wife and I had dinner at Hooky, which is Hope & Glory's outdoor dining space (during Covid), and are extremely disappointed with our experience. When my wife called to make a reservation, she made it a point of telling the woman she spoke with (Chef Meseret) that it would be our anniversary, and that wasn't even acknowledged at any point during our meal, even though they recognized another customer's birthday. The meal itself was fine, but not exceptional, from oyster appetizer to crab cake entrée to cheesecake dessert. Everything was more or less good until the meal was finished. The waiter asked us if we wanted "to review your charges", which we thought was odd, since we figured we'd just get the check. Instead of that, the guy came over with an iPad and showed us the charges. In addition to the fixed price meal ($80 per person) we ordered two cocktails ($28 total) and a bottle of wine ($52), and then they had the nerve to charge us another $16 for an alcohol service fee. WHAT?!?! You can bet that they made plenty of markup on both the wine and the cocktails, but to charge us to serve it too...WTF?! I questioned the guy about the charge, and his answer was "I don't know, I just do what I'm told". As if that wasn't bad enough, he then put us on the spot and asked if we wanted to add a tip, and how much? What an annoying end to an otherwise fairly pleasant meal. All told, the tab was over three hundred bucks. Totally not worth it.While we were eating, we discussed the possibility of staying at Hope & Glory for a future visit to the area, but after getting nickled and dimed for a service fee, they're not getting any more money from us.

With a five-star meal and service comes a five star price. This is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in the Northern neck. I love the food here. The service was great. The sheriff, the waitress, the owners were all friendly came over to say hi. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who has $200 for dinner for two.Trying to get them on the phone for reservations ain't easy

My wife and I had problems getting return phone calls to make a dinner reservation for Valentines Day. Finally, we did. Our perseverance paid off. We had a great meal there. I spoke with Chef Meseret who explained that Covid was the source of the issue and her explanation appeared to be reasonable. What is most important was the quality of the meal, the service, and the upscale ambiance. All were top notch. For those who like to speak French, you will enjoy speaking with the Chef about her career, travels, food, and of course her cooking. It was all very enjoyable. We liked the wine so much that we purchased a second bottle to take home. We would recommend dining here and plan to go back ourselves. Bon appetite.

If you want a superb evening of fantastic food, service and ambience, I would strongly suggest you have dinner at Hope and Glory Inn. Dining there is of the nth degree of wonderful. The chef, Meseret Crockett's, attention to detail and skill of preparation leaves one more than completely satisfied. The emphasis the night we visited was on seafood, crabmeat to be specific. It was absolutely the freshest it could be and the largest most succulent lumps. Chef Meseret gave us excellent guidance in ordering our entrées and wine. And don't get me started on the desserts! Everything about the evening was delicious and wonderful. We cannot wait to return but I know we have to make plans accordingly. Seating is limited and they get booked far in advance. But one should definitely make plans to dine at Hope and Glory Inn and enjoy Chef Meseret's skills.

We came down from Fredericksburg to celebrate my wife's birthday. We booked a charming cottage at the Hope and Glory Inn. Wonderful accommodations! But the dinner my wife and I just experienced was a masterpiece. When I booked the weekend, I was asked about food allergies and personal tastes, etc. We love seafood, and told them we were up for anything. The Executive Chef at the Inn took it from there. First course: oysters Rockafeller. Perfectly prepared, with a basil pesto base. To die for!Second course: a fresh salad with feta and a delicious vinegrette, served with homemade bread that was excellent!. Main course: crab cakes with roasted vegetables. OMG, that course blew me away. Perfectly balanced, crab was simply prepared and the best I've had in a long long time. Desert was a wonderful chocolate covered custard type of cheesecake. And a glass of Port. Nirvana. I would come back here at the drop of a hat. Wonderful service, excellent accommodations, and a simply remarkable dining experience.

For THE best oysters AND crab cakes in the world....come here! Meseret is a most awesome chef --cooks with care and love from her heart! The service was impeccable....no sense of being rushed nor being ignored. The menu is all locally sourced farm to table. Situated in an old boarding school that is over 100 years old, dining is elegant yet comfortable and relaxed. It was worth the two hour drive from our home to dine at this slice of culinary heaven in the Northern Neck of Virginia....
