I give it 3 stars this time. Came for lunch. The food was good. It was Labor Day and I think they were a little short staffed. I'll try it again another day for another chance to impress

Wow!!!! What a fantastic course for a great price! Really wish we had more courses like this in the VB area as it took game play to a whole different level. Playing LONG, it challenges any level of golfer for sure! The course was in great shape with really nice greens, especially in January. The view was gorgeous and so peaceful! Now I am not the greatest golfer but with my experience and 15 handicap, I would definitely say you need to at least be able to make solid contact with the ball as the distance could be challenging to reach in par. If you are new, playing from anything beyond the whites should really be considered for better ball strikers because it truly is long and challenging and suited for the lower handicap or scratch players. Slow play will come into play if trying to play out of your element. It is quite forgiving but if you get into the woods, it is difficult to find the ball under the leaves which slows it even more. Definitely not a walking course and loads of hills/undulations all over the place. It is a very fun/challenging course and was worth the hour and 10 minute drive. I will definitely consider making my way at least once a year to experience the courses in the Williamsburg to Richmond area. Definitely a different ball game versus where I live.

The course is really in great shape. To get this quality, design pedigree and challenge at this price is really nuts. The layout is awesome. It's heavily bunkered with generous fairways and is the only public course in the area with proper rough at the moment (hate when it's cut like a fairway). The greens are complex but roll true. The clubhouse is on the smaller side, but actually serves really good food. Unless I missed the main locker room, the one in the clubhouse is like a powder room which is a little inconvenient when the course is crowded.

This is a great overall track. Tree lined but very generous landing areas if you are playing the correct tees and don't mind hitting less than driver. Tons of bunkers out here too. Definitely a second shot golf course in my opinion. Middle of the green is usually a safe bet. Greens are big and not overly complicated as well. The greens are guarded by bunkers but have a lot of playable shaved areas. Ok most courses missing long is no good but those shots are playable here for the most part. Only the par 3 16th has areas around the green that are extremely difficult to get up and down. Speaking of par 3s, I think this place has a wonderful set of them. Each is unique and beautiful. Love that one of them on the front 9 had 10 tee boxes which give you many fun looks at the same hole. This place is also almost 7500 yards from the tips, so it's definitely a bombers paradise.Practice area is very nice. Good sized putting green, a chipping green/bunker area, and a big driving range. Plus you hit off beautiful grass. Clubhouse is being built so they are using a temporary unit. Workers were nice overall but the people in the pro shop didn't seem to want to be there.

An absolutely stunning golf course. At all times of the year, this place plays amazing. The clubhouse is always clean and looks great. Bryan Brooks works the pro shop and many other things and is such a great guy. Very friendly and helpful. One of my top 5 courses to play in VA without a doubt

Enjoyed a beautiful day on the golf course with my buddy yesterday. I was able to use my gift card I received from my girlfriend. Super easy process and the staff were very friendly and informative about the course. It was my first time there and I will definitely be going back. The tips were lonnnnng, the blues were lonnnnng and the greens (what we played) were still a tad long and challenging but overall I really enjoyed the challenge. Just frustrating at times! I loved all the different tee options too. Great conditions. The greens were under maintenance, so a little bumpy but they actually played really well considering the conditions. I make sure you book online. They have great deals at great times!

A five star golf track that in my opinion failed miserably in hosting a tournament for 100 golfers.I play on a local golf tour and an overwhelmingly majority of us drove some 50+ miles to play this course. It's a great layout. The course is in great condition. Their greens roll true and while it can be a difficult track they have numerous sets of tees so that any caliber golfer can enjoy the course. People have asked me about the course before and I've said nothing but good things regarding the layout and conditions. That's not my problem...Normally when my golf tour shows up to a golf course the staff normally makes some announcements before we head out to our holes. This typically includes a thank you for coming out and we hope you enjoy the course speech. Not with these folks. Pardon my French but the folks running the show seemed to have been 'd*cks' with their tone to us. It's as if we weren't welcome to their course. The only impression I got was being pushed out to hurry up and play the course so we can get done early so more golfers can come out to play.To top things off the course maintenance crew didn't even bother to rake the sand traps on Sunday morning from Saturday's play. I'm glad to see that 100 golfers can't merit quality service and some prep work for a quality experience...

I'm no professional but I found this course to be the best I've played in the Commonwealth so far. The course expectably maintained and incredibly serene with bridges and winding cart paths designed to surreptitiously moves you from one hole to another. Very little housing development along the fairways coupled turns taking you from one to another makes it incredibly quiet and relaxing. Ranges: Unfortunately, I was there as part of the staff for our tournament as well as play in it...so having to help work the check-in I never had a chance to make it to the ranges so I cannot make a comment at this point and time.Fairways: These Fairway's are some of the best I've seen. Extremely well maintained and designed. If you're a scratch golfer that can hit it off the tee 250yds or more you'll enjoy this course. Most of the holes have a challenging turn, hazards or slopes with many of them having all 3. Drops from the tee box on the shorter par 3's and well-placed bunkers around the green make every hole a challenging one. The thick tall vegetation and forest surrounding the fairways is both beautiful and unforgiving for balls that took a wayward flight off the fairway. All that said, I felt like the peacefulness of the course made us play above our norms. Greens: Varied in size, slope and bunkers making everyone of them requiring a carefully placed shot. However, being impeccably cared green makes it easier to deal with the one that got away or was sucked into the sand trap by mysterious wind vacuums I seem to always encounter.Service: After reading a review from a trusted Yelper and expert golfer I was a little hesitant on having Viniterra host our tournament but I think they took his Yelp to heart because it was a complete 180 from his experience, which tells me Yelp works for patrons, business owners and staff. Admittedly, there's a difference in the customer service from the winery next door, which was outstanding, and the golf course...but not too much. The golf staff was all friendly, helpful and encouraging on our return the following year. They helped us set up our tables, had a solid pre tournament review of the rules and send off, and got everything set for post event activities while we played the course. To answer their question...yes we will definitely be going back next year. Overall: I loved this course and its tranquil surroundings. Despite my not having the opportunity to rate the ranges (driving, putting and chipping/sand) I'm going out on a limb and giving them 5 Stars. That said, I look forward to returning for another game and reviewing them then.

The Club at Viniterra is a beautiful course. However, the pro shop is a joke. What pro shop doesn't have golf balls for sale? I paid $66 dollars for 18 and a cart only to leave the last 7 wholes unplayed because I didn't have any balls. I went to the pro shop at the turn to get more only to be told we don't have any?!?! I realize they are getting ready to move into the new clubhouse but it is no excuse. Really disappointed in this facility. I am from Richmond so I drove a good distance to play. But not, because they do not cater to the customers that their business is designed for.

Golf was great. Clubhouse bartendress turned me off to the place. You wait for a Diet Coke that could mean the transaction is a great tip is beyond the woman tending the bar. I stood there a full 5 minutes as she schmoozed with a single person! C''Mon be aware of one other person standing at the bar!
