The Blue Heron Restaurant - Charles City

Came by boat, the upgraded marina with bumpers is awesome! Got drinks and appetizers, crab dip delicious, chicken nachos queso was a stand out, highly recommend the strawberry limeade and peel and eat shrimp were nice size. Our server and bartender and hostess were super friendly!!

We don't know. Had to meet my wife halfway between Williamsburg and Richmond so we chose The Blue Heron based on recommendations from my Dad and his friends. Drive all the way here and it's closed although Yelp says it's open for another 90 minutes... haha . Probably should have called. Please update your listing!

The food was OK just about everything is fried unless you get steamed shrimp or raw bar items

On Sunday, I was there the bar tender, named Heather, said racist things about blk people. She said they are walking EBT cards and she gets nauseous just looking at them. She said they don't tip either. I found her to be very racist and rude! She doesn't make good drinks either!! She should NOT have a job in any type of service industry, especially not a restaurant.

Just a great place off the beaten path but easy to get to. Great cocktails and food. Call before coming as hours change and varies by season

Walked out as soon as we were told we had to order using and app that require us to enter personal information. What a shame that the owner doesn't understand that many people prefer to be unplugged from their devices while going out to eat. We have enjoyed this restaurant over the years, but we won't come back until this ordering business model becomes more flexible. Why have a wait staff if they can't even take an order or make things right?

We drove from Williamsburg Wednesday evening for supper. It was a little unusual having to place our order using our phone but the process was easy and accurate. The staff did take the time to answer any questions. The food came out hot and good. Prices were fair and we paid online as well. We sat at a table and my only complaint was that the table was wobbly and metal chairs were not too comfortable. All and all we will return when it's cool enough to sit out on the deck.

Amber is the greatest waitress. Food is really great. Casual and fun. Calamari is some of the best I have ever had.

We have gotten take out several times.The food and service have been great. We especially love the grilled chicken Caesar salad. Their Caesar dressing is the best I've ever had. The fish & chips and fried shrimp are amazing! Their homemade tartar sauce is fabulous!!We'll be back!

Food was good and the view is great. Is especially nice if you are staying nearby where options are fairly limited.
