The Blaque Room

This establishment is breathtaking! Wow! Nestled in the Churchland section of Portsmouth and it's a great location for any number of events. We were here for a kickoff of a nonprofit, Czavi Cares Inc. and I'm truly impressed at the decor. It's classy, stylish and I am not sure if the food is standard or was it catered but it was THE BOMB!!!!!!I will definitely remember this when I am looking for a venue.

I acquired The Blaque Room for my family reunion on August 6th. There were some positive aspects of acquiring the venue: the price to reserve the facility was reasonable, the location was convenient, and being allowed to get in to set up an hour earlier was nice. However, some negative aspects were the temperature of the facility, the overlapping of events, and the lack of chairs. During our event, the temperature became extremely warm, which made it uncomfortable for my family. The previous weekend one of my family members attended an event at the same venue. She stated it was hot and other guests complained about the temperature. So, I shared my concerns about the temperature before my family's upcoming event with the staff of the venue. It was suggested that I (my family) may want to find another location. The suggestion caught me off guard because it was six days before my event would take place. Secondly, my contracted time was from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (The contract I signed allowed for one hour to set up before the event, and one hour to clean up after the event.) Another client came inside the venue at 2 p.m. to inform me that her event was at 3 p.m. My family had to rush to clean up. So, she would have time to set up for her event. Finally, on July 31st, I requested 14 tables with 8 chairs at each table which amounted to 112 chairs. The Saturday before the event, I found out there were only 100 chairs in the facility. So, I had to get additional chairs from a family member's church.
